House, as a show, is made for the viewer, as modern medicine is usually quite boring to watch. The script demands they jump to conclusions before finding some one symptom that eliminates all possible solutions but one.
Furthermore, the time the physician checked for the pulse wasn't intended to be medically accurate - it was supposed to be a high-tension moment that required speed. They spend certain amounts of time on certain actions for pacing.

It's not. Cake is extremely unhealthy. NO physician would prescribe a high carb diet, rich in sugar. Except the ones who believe in the Food Pyramid, and the ones who tell type 2 diabetics that they need to be eating 150 grams of carbs per meal, and you of course HAVE to eat 3 meals a day, and breakfast is the most important one of course.

So a body builder can be obese, but a low weight person with a high body fat percentage literally cannot be considered obese. Yes we can still get diabetes and the health issues related to obesity as a result of poor diet, but the term obesity still isn't applicable.
I'm just saying she doesn't necessarily need to get fat even with adjusting her diet to accommodate her medical needs. Jesus. Updated.
Having an eating disorder I sympathize with her. After 2 years of starving myself I decided to recover and gained even more weight then before in a couple of months and faced all the fears that led to a disorder in a first place. I keep telling myself I'm doing the right thing but honestly I hate myself right now
UPD: It's been a year so I thought I'd update this. Thank you for all your support in comments. I had came here a ton of times when I felt bad about myself and your kind words saved me so many times from relapsing. You are wonderful people and I appreciate you all.♥️
Hey, I'm doing better! Not starving myself anymore, I recently skipped a breakfast and was like "I'M HUNGRY, I WANNA EAT", like, I can't stand feeling hunger now, amazing cause before my recovery journey I couldn't even feel hunger cause I was so used to just ignoring it. That made me think I'm gonna be fine very soon.
Some things still trigger me, but I'm so much better, not obsessing every day about my weight, my appearance. I'm at about 65 kilos right now (145-ish pounds) and I didn't suddenly become uglier or less worthy.
If you're struggling with an ED, I hope you'll believe me, recovery is so worth it. It will be hard, but you will get better. You deserve it. You are beautiful, you are worthy, you are loved.

That's because you're not doing it right. The more you starve yourself and do cardio , the more your metabolism drops and the greater the weight gain when you splurge. Your only option is a high protein low-ish carb diet with sufficient healthy fats and a moderate to high intensity weight training regime interspersed with required cardio. This is a sure fire way to boost up your metabolism and keep your hormones in check

As a Doctor I loved this show, but just an FYI, an echo has to be done by a trained cardiologist, a gastroscopy by a gastroenterologist, surgery by a surgeon, pulling a blood clot from the brain by a neurologist, and so on.
Also Doctors only order an MRI and Xrays, they don't actually put the person on the machine and run the computers that control these machines, that stuff is done by technicians or radiographers.
Also only pathologists and haematologist ever look through a microscope, all other Doctors don't.
Blood tests are also not actually done by Doctors. Doctors order and sometimes draw the blood. The actual blood assays and lab work is done by technicians.
On House, every Doctor does everything, including the job of the nurses, technicians, radiographers, and all specialities. That is just BS, and is not remotely close to medicine.
The good Doctor suffers from the same issue by the way

You can lose 50lbs and your body is still going to try to get back to being 50lbs heavier because it's been programmed to recognize that body as it's normal. Even with regular exercise and diet. The only way to maintain the loss is making working out and dieting your full time job. Which no one can realistically maintain unless you work for a gym. Really it shouldn't be about losing weight. It should be about being healthy because many people out there are healthy and also fat. Whereas skinny people can be unhealthy because of lack of exercise and diet. She’s so scared of being fat that she’s rather risk dying (on a really bad day) and that’s very accurate to the real world and really really sad.

Yeah, but for any acronym to make sense, you have to give its full name first and then the acronym. That would go over the head of most of your audience. You've got to remember that most patients aren't in a place to digest such information when they are being treated, and that people like you are a minority in society. Especially as education around the world except in a few societies is being underfunded.

BigHenFor Doctors don’t call it Tri Acyl Glycerides, it’s just referred to as Triglycerides. Full chemical or biological names are irrelevant to patients and doctors alike. In med school we hardly are expected to know the full name of many abbreviations.
