    Hey im new im trying to figure out at the most basic level what i should be aiming to do in neutral. Is it more character specific? I play raven because he looks cool and also he kinda clicked a little better for me than other characters so far. But should i just be looking to set up opportunities to whiff punish? Should i be looking to frame trap my opponent with jabs? I have never “seriously” played fighting games (tried to learn and get better and understand the strategy of how the game plays on a fundamental level) so this is all new to me anything would be helpful

    • @AveryxFGC
      @AveryxFGC  Před 8 dny +1

      hey, thanks for the comment! Neutral in the most basic form is when both characters are neither advantage or disadvantage in positioning specifically. your plan in neutral will depend on life lead, round count, character specifics, opponent character specifics, and opponent habits. For instance, if your opponent is bryan, and he keeps using 3+4 (his long reaching mid kick that has huge pushback and counter hit launches) your goal might be to bait out the 3+4 by focusing on advancing quickly to freak him out and get him to press, and immediately sidestep and launch his 3+4. I would say the three most important things when deciding what to do in neutral would be your character and the gameplan you would like to execute, your opponents character, and your opponents habits. Everything else is eventually important, but isnt as immediately important as those three things.
      TL;DR: if you know your opponent keeps throwing the same few moves over and over in neutral, base your gameplan on exploiting those moves to punish them!

    How do you actually build & keep the pressure up ? I play DJ, and I often feel like I'm unable to threaten the enemy, since I only have one strong low and many of his pokes also kind of suck...
    So I often end up not being able to open up or seriously threatening the opponent, while just getting blendered by them

    • @AveryxFGC
      @AveryxFGC  Před 23 dny

      the simplest way to explain DVJs gameplan is to open players up with hellsweep, if you find opponents arent ducking and you have the time, throwing out hellsweep into a decent combo can net some decent damage, but also scare your opponent into ducking more. The essence of Mishima characters being so hard is because the game plan revolves around "am I going to hellsweep or not" your mids are there to check them if they duck, your electric for if they get lazy with approach or sidestepping, and your 1,1,2 to lock them down. DVJ has some decent get out of jail options for when hes getting attacked, but the problem comes from actually attacking. If your opponent just has solid ass defense everything ive said above is going to become much harder to do. As someone who plays a Mishima, the best advice I can give you is to really focus on movement, with EWGF being literally the best launcher in the game, learning how to KBD if you havent already and control space will carry you so far. The gameplan of "hellsweeping to get health lead and just not approaching and only playing whiff punishes" can actually win you so many rounds against people who like to turtle up, because at the end of the day if you have the higher health bar when that timer goes off, youre the one thats winning!

      @@AveryxFGC thanks alot for the tips ! Yeah ok, so that proves what I feared/thought would be the case... I love DJ for his "main villain boss" vibe, but the sheer amount of buttons you have to press in such a short time to be a real threat (cd-iws2, ewgf, kbd, wp ewgf...) frustates me; others press one input and I lose 50%HP 🥲

      I am an offline player that has only ever grinded really with offline tourney players and finally giving ranked a chance, so I honestly am not sure what my highest will be. People I play with are around emperor-TGS so id say probably the bottom end of that while im focusing on learning matchups im unfamiliar with!

    • @markshmellomd1370
      @markshmellomd1370 Před 23 dny +2

      @razborkaptrsk9428 nah, u can get to fujin just by flowcharting and having no real fundamentals, I did so in 30 hours with bryan, and I've never played a tekken game before. Raijin is when people actually start becoming good stepping, whiff punishing consistently, whiffing on purpose with low recovery moves to bait whiff punishes etc. Everyone else is just pressing buttons.
      There's a reason 20 + percent of the playerbase is in fujin. Ruler ranks are 40% +. Would u really look at a GN to MG player from csgo and call that player an intermediate player? No, but they are statistically the same as a ruler.

    • @markshmellomd1370
      @markshmellomd1370 Před 23 dny +1

      @AveryxFGC do u actually consider ruler ranks intermediate, tho? Unless ur playing reactably, u aren't really playing tekken. Ur just flowcharting until something sticks. Up until mid blue ranks players are learning how to pilot their character rather than playing the game.

    • @AveryxFGC
      @AveryxFGC  Před 23 dny +2

      @@markshmellomd1370 I would say intermediate is a "slightly better than average" rank. I dont think setting "intermediate" to be middle of blue makes much sense personally. in the grand scheme of things if the majority of the player base is stuck in a certain rank, the few ranks following it are where you would be above average, thus "intermediate". I have seen quite a few good players consider tenryu to battle ruler to be the intermediate ranks. you have to keep in mind that ranks are going to be bloated with the game just coming out, and the nature of a 1v1 game youre going to find people much easier that are boosted than if you played a 5v5 like counter strike just because the lack of other opponents in the lobby. remember, intermediate doesnt specifically mean GOOD. I do agree that it is all flow charting, but in a sense flow charting is the simplest form of understanding of a game plan. so if none of the other ranks understand gameplan and are all mashing, I think its fair to say the ranks where people finally start having a gameplan for their character would be intermediate (even if the gameplan still sucks), and it would only become advanced play once players start to understand the opponents character and plan their gameplan accordingly. The game has gotten very popular very fast, so the skill ceiling has gotten a lot lower right now, it seems much easier for players like us who have a basic understanding of fundamentals, but because of the larger player pool and the huge vast variety of players with varying skill level, I think its safe to say in my opinion ruler ranks serves as an intermediate testing ground, and blue ranks serves as a test of if a player is dedicated enough to learn their character and their opponents as well!

    • @AveryxFGC
      @AveryxFGC  Před 17 dny +1

      I said at the very beginning of the video that this isnt my actual rank. im an offline player that doesnt play ranked because I have practice partners that are tournament players. I only started playing ranked because of youtube, theres a lot ive learned playing with some of the best players in the united states, and what ive talked about is not only true, but things that have been passed down and taught to me by these same professional players im practicing/playing with
      EDIT: The topics im talking about as well is the absolute basic fundamentals of neutral that red rank players should be learning right now, if Fujins dont understand at least the first step of advancing in neutral thats a very bad sign
