- Surely this is a true 4x4 with a motor at each wheel producing 295 BHP at each wheel ! This is the new U8 SUV from Yang Wang in China. Is it a Defender copy ? with a fully electric drive chain ( plus in build petrol generator ) is this more futuristic than the new Defender ?

My mate went to Thailand and came back with a Yangwang as well. Antibiotics soon sorted that out though.

BYD are going to put a lot of people out of business as they expand. China makes a lot of junk but it's also where a majority of high end products are assembled and while they're not my thing, looking at the BYD reviews they are right on the edge of making genuinely attractive cars you'd buy because it was the best, not because it was cheaper. I do have one question and this goes for all electric cars - we all know that if you run a battery powered item as hard as possible the battery drains faster. This holds true for everything from torches to radio control cars to laptops and cordless tools. If they were dialled back to not all do sub-7s 0-60 (even cheap middle of the road general EVs will do this), would it result in more useable range?
Yes you are 100% correct - rapid acceleration wastes power as does braking - the trick when we drive the Tesla ( my wife's car ) is to try not to use the brake at all.... as you lift off the accelerator the motor slows the car and charges the battery ( regen ). Touching the brakes wastes power is heat at the brakes ! Interesting our Tesla Model 3 dual motor is the same car as the Model 3 performance - but the software is different - the reduces the acceleration of the standard dual motor version - but it gives it a better range ! ( same motors and battery )

I've owned LR for years and anyone calling this Chinese rubbish has clearly never owned a LR product. Nearly every repair is a poorly designed part. This is blatant copying but I doubt the quality is any worse.

Hello Simon! I wish I had been there with you because I had a good look at this huge creation. It is desperately ugly and the interior is a challenge BUT….im sure you noticed the build quality and that generator engine was a super smooth gem idling away. It is too big, too challenging and not for the U.K….but the next one will be very different…think Discovery Sport size with massive technology and toned down styling….JLR had better get one of these in stock to have a VERY good look at it! 🤔🤔🫣🫣😃😃😃😃Richard.
