To think like that doesn't make sense. Instead, you should think of ways you can earn more and not how you'll pay your bills. I earn more than £16,000 as a quant. I used to work for the NHS as a porter on weekends only (16 hours per shift), and I earned more than enough to save, help out friends and family back home, and even go on holidays. Now that I earn this much as a quant, I have understood that there is always the potential to earn really big as long as you're prepared to sacrifice some time for studies. Instead of people looking for ways to earn more and enjoy their life, they simply complain. Most people who like to complain too much never get anywhere in life.
