- Utterly incredible footage of a manta breaching.
A rare spectacle captured yesterday by lucky volunteers on our Manta México Caribe project.

I used to see them in the Gulf of Mexico when I was a young man working on shrimp boats. Some times I would hear something like a thunder clap and I would know it was happening. What you filmed was a beautiful memory. Thank you for sharing.
Could this possibly explain some UFO sightings and the like?
@@Joe-yc4fsPeople think horny elk sound like Sirenhead or Bigfoot, and factories releasing steam sound like souls being released from hell, so maybe?!
😅
@@Joe-yc4fsI was just thinking the same thing.
So they still do it? Or are they all gone?
@@NinjaPhookaI live by the coast, people think the tsunami alert has gone off when my wife starts yipper yapping
Great shot. The island of Bora Bora has a large population of giants. 15 to 20 foot wing span cruising around the channels inside of the outter reef drop to deep sea. That was not an easy video shoot. That's the best ray footage I have ever seen.Thank you for sharing.
man, every few years someone mentions how big they are and I'm like 'no way they're this big', then I rediscover their huge size

That's one hell of a shot. Well done.
Many years ago my family used to vacation at Cape Hatteras. One early morning I poured a cup of coffee, went out onto the balcony and looked out to sea. At that very moment a huge manta ray breached, about 100 meters out from the beach, and then he was gone. The one and only time I’ve ever seen one. Right place at precisely the right time!
at last what i have been looking for, not the small mobula rays leaping but the true giants jumping out of the water. i hope these majestic creatures will thrive for many years to come with the help of the manta trust. thank you for the footage and good luck with your work!
Agreed! I read a long time ago that Giant Oceanic Manta Rays breach (and also that they are incredibly fast swimmers) but that always seemed crazy given that adults can weigh over 3,000 lbs. There is even a flying Pokémon called Mantine that is inspired by them. This is the first good footage of a giant manta jumping I've ever found on CZcams. I did see it once on Animal Planet but unfortunately I wasn't recording. :(
@@eliotj Überleg mal, was ein Blauwal wiegt und der springt auch.
They get 10x that size this is still a small manta ray
WOW 😮 What a beautiful sight and fantastic camera work. 👍
Nearly did an inside loop in the air, just having fun!
I have been lucky enough to see this for myself in Wilmington NC in the harbor where the river joins the sea. We were on a ferry to a nearby coastal island when one of these creatures rose up out of the water and sailed through the air. I was the only one to see it, but what a life-changing event it was. I'll never forget it!
Exactly how did it change your life?
@@jeffwhitney3369 He can now brag to everyone about how a he saw a ray jump out of the water. His instant fame will then lead to millions of dollars of ad revenue that he can then donate to cure cancer and win the best person on the planet ever award.
See, life changing.
When I was in middle school I was at Myrtle or Wilmington, (forgot which one) with my friend and my dad. We were all swimming in the water next to each other when my dad and I saw one of these breach just about 20 feet ahead of us. It was amazing. My friend didn’t see it tho😅 He didn’t believe us

That manta ray must have been feeling really joyful, I want to imagine how expansive it must feel to be a sea creature soaring through the air - so cool 😊

Animals just want to have fun.
Once when I was diving off western australia a huge shadow came over me and I looked up to see a manta ray who was having a great time playing in the bubbles from my reg. He kept coming back for more bubble tickles.
I've never seen one do a backflip before!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I've lived at the beach and had never seen this from a ray . Great footage .
I don't think you are going to see them at a beach, but in deep open water
Pretty, but kinda scary to see a creature with a 15-20 wingspan jump so close. I know mantas are harmless, but they still weigh alot.
I heard a woman got killed when her speedboat zoomed by a spotted eagle Ray jumping out of the water, and it hit her. The ray died too from the impact, but accorfing to other passengers it was nearly 4 feet across and weighed 200 pounds. So even though it wasn't a giant Manta, even the smaller species of ray can be pretty heavy, so you don't want to get smacked by one.
Was in Deerfield Beach Florida 45 years ago , dead calm summer water and 14 ft manta breached to remove remoras on his under sides. Never will I forget it!
.
I remember my encounter just as clear! This was at Jacksonville Beach. I was in my mid teens, so it had to be around 25 years ago. I saw something black in the distance as i stood ashore. I thought it might be a whale. A wave crested and blocked my view, and just as the wave fell, i saw the manta breach. I was stunned. I immediately knew what it was, but i did not know they breached.
Same, off the coast of Mississippi I was fishing from a boat in still water when a huge speckled manta ray leaped out of the water. I just happened to be looking in that direction and it was freaking awesome. Was probably about 60 to 80 yards from me.
Truly something you will never forget.
I just read that rays breach and I had to see it for myself. How majestic.
He was in a happy mood. They are cool creatures, i gor a ride from one in the keys once, nearly ripped my mask off we moved so fast, really friendly and i completely had the sense he enjoyed the play time as much as i did

Beautiful footage .
I saw 2 of them fly straight up out of the water in a split second (we think whale chasing them). It was SO fast, so startling and unexpected, that if you’d blinked at that second you would have missed them. This was in Cabo San Lucas in 2021. One of the most fantastic sights I’ve ever seen! They were AIRBORNE!!
I witnessed this near Marathon Key in my younger days, but the ray flew along side the boat for what I remember as a ridiculously long time. To this day, it remains on my "Top 5 Coolest Things I've Seen in Nature" list.
I didn’t expect that you had underwater footage as well- my gosh- this was amazing!!

What a great video!!! Thank you for sharing.
Great clip! I was fishing on a party boat on the ocean side of the Chesapeake bay bridge, while trying to catch Croakers on a line with triple baits, a leatherback turtle the size of a volts wagon had grabbed a croaker that hooked on my line, and it breached fully out of the water and spit the fish back at me! It was one of the most amazing things I’ve seen, everybody on the boat was cheering and clapping taking videos. One of those moments in life I will never forget!
Absolutely spectacular!
The word Awesome is chronically misused, but not in this case.
Opportunity of a lifetime to witness it. Beautiful photography.
Amazing! Such cool animals. Thanks for posting.
Never seen or knew about mantas breaching like that. Pretty cool.
I didn’t know they did fucking backflips!

I knew they did. And this was super cool to capture. Looks like he/she was having a lot of fun doing it to.
I saw one 30 years ago about 12’ across breach in Port Mansfield Tx. when fishing on the jetty. Hoping for a 2nd jump but never happened. I knew it was a special moment! 👍👍👌

Add to this that manta rays are able to recognize themselves in a mirror.
Fabulous!! Thank you!!! They are such unique-looking beings, almost like birds!
What a efficient swimmer
They are evolving to fly out of water and grow feathers…right?
Yes, if it keeps practicing for about 300 million years, it will grow feathers. Unfortunately they only have a lifespan of about 50 years... I guess they'll be stuck in the ocean forever.
One of the most iconically beautiful animals on earth.
Its design is so cool, that we worship it in movies, TV, and science fiction.

God does good work.
❤How do you get to hell?
Very simple: claim that you're innocent.
How do you get to heaven?
Very simple: Admit that you're not Innocent, you're guilty and ask for mercy.
❤

Continued:
>>> 1 of 3.
Part 2.
The Ten Commandments:
Do not lie.
Do not steal.
Do not commit adultery.
Do not insult God by using his name as a cuss word.
There are six more but let's just leave it at that.
How many lies have you told in your life?
Have you ever taken anything that didn't belong to you?
Jesus said, if you look at a women lustfully you've already committed adultery in your heart with that woman.
How many times a day do you do that?
Do you use God's name as a cuss word?
Would you do that with your own mother's name?
If you answer these questions honestly you know that you're guilty.
....
Part 3:
Ask him for mercy.
His name is Jesus. It's as simple as this, The Ten Commandments are called the moral law. You and I broke God's laws. Jesus paid the fine.
The fine is death.
Ezekiel 18:20 -
"The soul who sins shall die."
That's why Jesus had to die on the cross for our sins. This is why God is able to give us Mercy.
Option A.
You die for your own sins.
Option B.
Ask for mercy and accept that Jesus died on the cross for you.
❤

This video has nothing to do with fairy tales.
@@hyena131 The real fairy tale is that the universe popped out of nowhere, by magic. It cannot be eternal, because of the laws of thermodynamics (or else entropy would have already reached the 'heat death' stage and nothing would be alive or moving). In other words, the universe MUST have a beginning, and things don't pop out of nowhere, unless something causes it.

It's always amusing when something can't be explained and people have to invent gibberish and fairy tales in order to vainly - and laughably - attempt to 'explain' it:)
