FOUR MEN - ONE MISSION
It happened during the summer of 2000. North America’s most prominent drum and bass DJs joined forces to create the legendary crew known as PLANET OF THE DRUMS. Using their combined muscle to push drum and bass music into the spotlight of the main stage they toured tirelessly for well over a decade, fronted by the vocal rhyme animal known as Messinian. Their incessant drive and motivation helped set the groundwork of the scene that exists today.
Feeling their work completed, the team turned their focus to personal projects and the PLANET OF THE DRUMS program was retired. But as was soon discovered, the drum and bass scene in North America began a slow freefall into underground obscurity.
This could not stand.
Reuniting in 2017, the PLANET OF THE DRUMS crew returned to continue their original mission - celebrating, honoring and advancing drum and bass music. “AWAKENING” represents a retrospective of some of their favorite sounds, highlights and moments from the past year. What always made POTD special was the compelling combination of the boys’ varied styles - AK and his raw motherfucking breakbeats. Dara’s rolling dancefloor vibes. Dieselboy with the heavy cinematic pressure. Three hundred and sixty degrees of futuristic drum and bass business.

Saw them in Miami last month...best show I've been to since the last time I saw DSL in 2015 (and I go to church as much as possible. lol)!!!!!!!!!!!!! DSL has been coming back to Kentucky more often the past decade which is awesome, but the last time POTD (without Messi) came to Louisville was 2006...and Dara 2012...so I'm happy I moved to FL even if I can't afford to go to all these shows that basically go on every weekend down here...

You can really hear his vast experience compared to most (if not all) other artists in the same genre. I didn't think there was a style of this music I actually liked, until I listened to modern Dieselboy. Awesome!
I loved Dieselboy's previous mixes too, but this mix is INSANE. One of the, if not the, best mixes I have ever heard.
I love the dark style and fast beats and the way these guys do the vocals is sublime

POTD 20 year reunion tour was so much fun. Saw people who stayed with it for 20 years I had not seen in ages.
I chilled with diesel boy at buzz a few times. Got an auto on CD at a free hour concert at tower records.and followed him sent early 90s. Nobody the touch him he's just to dam sick.

I remember the first POTD Tour in 2000 at the Asylum in Springfield Mass. It was the Tables Turn event. It was some of the most insane DnB shows that place had. Especially when they had POTD tour vs NO2 Crew from Cali. for the 2nd installment of that the following year.

When mellenials ask me, “how did they come up with dubstep?” I just hand them a dieselboy album and tell them that is the origins.
But that isn't correct. Dubstep came from Garage/Reggae. Brostep came from Dubstep, DNB, Breakcore, etc.

Also, please keep in mind, my definition of dubstep is Kode9, Mala, etc. Going to have to browse my archive this weekend as I have a few mixes from Dieselboy from that era.
@Joel W You are correct. There are numerous commonalities between the sounds of DNB/Jungle (ol skool) and Dubstep. Just not in terms of bpms.
