    The "play only ghost notes with one hand" exercise really helped me both to then get the quick ghost-accent-ghost strokes happening after an hour or so, and also I think it is improving my left hand control in general. Good stuff!

    Cobhan, for one was an inspiration on his ghost note technique; however his ghost notes in Mahavishnu were probably as loud as my normal playing :)

    Is there any wisdom to practice the soft-LOUD-soft with larger than your normal sticks (IE - Practice with SD1s when you normally use 5A) as a way to soften up the ghost notes?

    • @johnrobinson8323
      @johnrobinson8323 Před 2 lety

      That's what I do A.J. Actually I do pad routine with SD-1 sticks and I practice on the kit with 5Bs. But when I play with the band I use 5As. This gives my ghost notes more control as well as my overall volume comes down and blends with the band better.

      @@johnrobinson8323 Thanks! I guess I could boil practicing down to “2B or not 2B.”

    My (attempt at) ghost notes are way too loud no matter how hard I try to minimize the force I use

    • @weareallbeingwatched4602
      @weareallbeingwatched4602 Před 2 lety +1

      That is fine. Keep them nice and loud, they disappear easily in a mix. Make your accents louder.

    To me, ghost notes are cool for vey sparse sections like breaks, but in most cases they don’t do much but muddy up the sound and make the rhythm less tight.

      i understand u trynna get paid and i get that but balance it in a way where people can come to the channel and stick around cause some people would feel frustrated because they get adds every 40 second or every minutes.
