Why use big saws with small bars?

288 clone, 16 inch bar, Square filed C85 cutting the limbs of a big box gum.

Would think the main determinant factor is the diameter of timber you are cutting, I tend to lean towards a longer bar to save my back, less bending and I feel more comfortable with a bar farther from my face and body.
