-Praiser 🙌🏻
See you on trail!
Bryce canyon..... I grew up in Panguitch. Good video thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Appreciate the video! Looking forward to your journey.
Thanks!
Great video! Lots of nice gear. I have a lot of the same. Happy trails! Hope to see ya out there!
Thanks and hopefully so!
AM IN THE 2024 APPALACHIAN TRAIL ALSO ==GREAT VIDEO
Thanks! See you on trail!
Hope to see you out there! Great gear choices
Hope so! You still thinking of bringing the doodle? (Caught the podcast)
@@GetOUTdoors75 Yes Leo is coming and will outlast us all! Seriously though he is a service dog but also my favorite hiking buddy and loves it.
Awesome!!
Great gear choices, 17lbs base-weight is good. I used gallon ziplocks for clothes/ditty as they were only 12g each, they hold up well and save a good bit of weight. I didn't get my thermals until New England, wish I had started with them! I'd recommend a pair of convertible pants so you can have pants/thermal/shorts/no-thermal setups, without extra sets of clothes (I slept in my hiking clothes, I guess I embraced it). My rain kilt was a pack cover most of the time, but did well as a modesty kilt when loaner clothes weren't available.
Are you going to get camp shoes? I bought some foam sandals just to let my feet dry out during hotter days in PA/NY/NJ. My BRS3000 also had the threads go bad around there, so be sure not to over-tighten your fuel canister, it adds up over 2K+ miles! Slow and steady wins the race, looking forward to seeing your videos!
-Fun Facts
Thanks for the input. Contemplating camp shoes and after this hike I just finished...well I shaved a little weight off with a few things I wont be taking . ....Always learning.
Looking forward to following along! I’m leaving right now for a two-day section in NC
Nice! Enjoy the trail!
Awesome, good luck. If i didnt just get the zpacks fleece hat I would be getting that appalachian gear co hat. looks likes a good kit.
Thanks
Great gear man! Good Luck! Subscribed!
I tried! LOL Thanks!
Have to let us know what worked and what didn't.
Its in the works lol
Really looks like you put a lot of thought into your gear! I look forward to following your hike! What’s your start date?
I did put a lot of time and research into selecting my gear. I plan on starting in March.
Maybe I missed some first aid supplies and electronics
Oops. There are the electronics.
Didnt go into detail with electonics...maybe a second video for that????....first aid...leukotape, neisporin, ibuprofen, and some doxy in case of a tick bite.
@@GetOUTdoors75 i have bias favoring bandages/bandaids too
What was the thought process behind bringing a rain jacket, kilt, and pancho. Seems a bit overkill? Good luck on your thru hike!
Indecision. I am just unsure of what exactly is going to work best for me. I did update that and will address it in my next video lol. I have gotten that question alot. Wasnt much weight so figured why not? Well I did make a decision.
@@GetOUTdoors75 That accent. You south of I-10? haha I'm a N. LA boy aka "fake" Louisianian.
🤣
Stick with the gaucho
I really want to...it just takes up a lot of space
Are you on the trail yet
Not quite...wont be long.
Poncho and rain jacket?!
Indecision is what it is. I have decided on starting with a rain jacket and umbrella. ...jacket because it doubles as a windbreaker. ..not as a stand-alone rain jacket. It has no pit zips and I want to try and not sweat too much.
I do the same with my rain jacket. Hey, I see you’re from LA. I’m from Lafayette. Not too many hikers around here. I’ll be following your
Vlog. I finished about 135 miles from Springer to the NOC in sections. On my most recent section - Albert Mountain- we stayed in Franklin at Grove Hostel, and it is now owned by a young lady from Baton Rouge. Very nice folks. Decent hostel.
Thanks! I will be sure to check out that Hostel when I get in the area
I am a die hard poncho hiker. But in colder weather I bring a rain jack and poncho. They work great together. When it warms up a bit I swap the rain jacket out for a UL wind breaker.
@@BarePawGear They all have a place....but I really don't want to carry them all....so went jacket/kilt/umbrella route.
Nice loadout!
Thanks
