Appreciate this conversation. Been incorporating grass fed bison and beef more and more and noticing my recovery is improving
Bison good for muscle growth? How does it taste and how much protein is in it?
It’s not the meat itself it’s the high level of fat & if you consume a large amount every day it will cause a build up of cholesterol & can cause cardiovascular issues
Macros don’t matter if you’re caloric intake isn’t too high.
3000 calories is 3000 calories. It doesn’t matter if 1000 come from fat 1000 from protein 1000 from carbs. Or any combination. 2000 from fats 1000 from protein 0 from carbs.
Even though I totally disagree with what the MP guys are saying in this video their other videos are so spot on and filled with value I have no choice but to challenge my current beliefs on red meat.
it is good to be a person who considers whether they have bought a lie.
with a name like alpha general, i hope you aren't a vegan.
@@omp365 not a vegan Toby but I cut my meat consumption way down to be healthier in my earlier fitness days. Now I’ve added whole meats ( nothing processed, meat with a bone in it) and my body has gotten way more muscular in the last year.
Red meat is literally the healthiest food on the planet..
Couldn't agree more
Yes
But how much is too much ?
How much is right daily ?
100 gram ? 250 ?
Wait how about red meat clogging the artery?
All a lie
Do carnivore once and you’ll find that meet is pretty harmless. Mixing it with a bunch of stuff is the real issue.
Meat and salt? Ok
Meat, sal, garlic? Bloating, farting
There are many examples like this.
I eat 1-2 raw garlic cloves a day. Soooooo good for you and your arteries. But no garlic powder
Mmmm steak and burgers 🍔
It's virtually impossible to eat too much on an all-red-meat and only-red-meat diet.
If you are eating too much red meat, it's not that you are eating too much red meat. You are eating too much of other stuff with it.
Where did you get this information from?
(Not coming at you, I’m actually very curious)
I don't know how many of you out there can eat read meat daily & not feel like shit
My heart can't handle any kind of red meat... literally a hot dog or a few slices of bacon have my heart beating soo fast like it's a out to implode minutes after consuming it
My heart oddly enough can handle large amounts of ICE CREAM shakes BEFORE the palpitations start to arise
WHITE MEAT on the other hand I can handle
What about grass fed ground beef?
you named some of the worst meats
Hot dogs and bacon lmao. Basically the 2 least healthy processed red meats you can consume. Did you not even listen to this video?
I completely fked my kidneys on keto from over doing it with too much meat.
I guess the MP crew have never heard of controlling for confounding factors in epidemiological studies. When they do, red meat is still a no-no.
I have taken those types of surveys (through 23andMe, whose data is used for epidemiological studies) and I really do not see how that could control for all confounding factors. They don’t ask what types of red meat so everything is weighted equally. Self-reporting, as they mention, is also a problem and nobody’s diet can be rigidly controlled long-term. I recently read an article about this and while red meat consumption is associated with greater mortality, the consensus is while the metadata supports reduced consumption, scientists admit they do not know what it is about red meat that is producing those results. I think the MP guys have made a lot of valid points and anecdotally, as someone who used to follow a mostly vegetarian diet, I have felt much healthier, and my blood work agrees, since including more protein and red meat in my diet.
@@heidilongman8128 what a well-written response! Damn, Heidi!
Just avoid red meat unless it’s home cooked. Red meat is typically very healthy if you home cook. I’m anemic so I need to consume a ton of iron, and red meat helps. I don’t have any health problems
@@heidilongman8128 People always make it sound like food questionnaire questions are like ‘what did you eat on Tuesday two weeks ago?’. They are not. As an example, these guys admitted in this video that they eat red meat practically every day. I know for a fact that I never eat red meat. Similarly, it would also be easy for someone to know with a great degree of certainty that they eat red meat about 3-4 times per week. While none of us would be able to remember what we ate last week, it would be pretty easy to bucket us into ‘high’, ‘moderate’, and ‘no’ meat consumption study groups.
@@megavegan5791 the questionnaire I answered asked how many servings I ate per week. It did not differentiate based on fat content or degree of processing. There was a separate question about processed meat consumption, but have past studies looked at that? Obviously diet in any individual can vary over time. I’m guessing based on your handle you are vegan but have you always been? I’m not trying to put down a vegan diet because I believe most diets based on whole, unprocessed foods can be healthy. I also believe it is extremely difficult to consume enough protein on a vegan or vegetarian diet to achieve optimal muscle growth, at least without consuming a lot of unhealthy processed foods. I guess it depends on what your goals are.
I understand that this is a nutritional and muscle building channel, but please make some mention of the devastating effect intense cattle farming has and is causing to the planet. I love my red meat but try and eat it as sparingly as possible, in fact try I and eat as little meat as possible. Studies show that of all carbon emissions in the US, (by far the biggest culprits) almost 10% was from cattle, let alone the devastation caused by eco system destruction, felling of forests etc. The only solution is for Human's and Westerners in particular to cut their beef and meat consumptions massively. FK your gains if there is nobody left on the planet to see them.
None of that stuff is true though. You're believing the propaganda and paranoid delusions
You’ve bought into all of the BS. Not surprising.
Nah I love my gains & red meat 🥩
In Sal’s interview with Robb Wolf from a few months ago, they go through the implications you’re alluding to, the studies they’re based on, evidence to the contrary, etc. Great interview. Even if it doesn’t change your stance, it may be good to go check it out so you know the counter arguments to what you’re suggesting. You won’t get any traction with audiences like this without updating the way you communicate your points.
Jesus wept 😔
