    6:40, that was the trailing unit on the Boeing LRVs’ final revenue train set with 3485 leading on 03/16/07. The train went from Riverside to Government Center, rounded the loop at Gov Center (which was the last stop) to get to the westbound side of the station, went back to Riverside when it was taken out of service permanently and moved out of the station onto the yard track and backed into the yard (which is just west of the Green Line platforms) with all of the other parked Boeings, marking the end of the SLRVs’ almost 31-year service life in Boston.

    Wow, at 7:11, Northeastern University on the E-Line. That was my freshman year there. I half-expected to see myself walking across the tracks! Great memories.

    1:43, 3636As B-end was with Type 7 3612 when they struck another train which consisted of Type 7 3637 and Type 8 3808 between Government and Park on the westbound. 3612, 3636 B-end and 3637 damaged beyond repair. 3612 was scrapped in mid-2012, while 3636B was scrapped at Alstom along with 3602A, 3630, 3650, 3679A and 3693 on February 15, 2019 when the 3600-series rebuild program was completed.

    Northeastern stop! Buildings look exactly the same, Marino center was brand new. Looks like they did some construction on platform though, looks slightly different today

      This was taken in the spring of my freshman year at NU. Most is similar now, but man the memories of hearing the train as you pick up a coffee at Wollastons :)

    Yup I lived right on the B line in 1999. I forget the name of the stop but it was right at the star market just past BU. It was in Brookline. Sometimes during snowstorms especially, the train would just stop and not start again so I would have to get off and walk the rest of the way. It was faster than waiting. Hahahahahahahaha. I think the monthly pass to ride the T was 30$ for the month back then. Grundgy times back then but wouldn't trade it for anything these days.

    I wonder why the C line was exclusively LRV and the B/E exclusively Type 7

    • @MichaelLaferriere
      @MichaelLaferriere Před rokem

      A handful were on the D line. I would occasionally ride one in 2005-2006 but mostly Type 7s at that time on D.

    • @KevinSun242
      @KevinSun242 Před rokem

      iirc some lines were a lot more derailment prone to the Boeings, like the street running portion of the E.

    it feels weird seeing the type 7 have non-LED signage

    • @robertknight4672
      @robertknight4672 Před 6 měsíci

      I believe at first they switch to LCD original and later on updated to LED as it was easier to read. When Finley retired to be nice if a museum would get one in and store going back to a roll sign even if they just do it to end of the car.

    Didn't the Boeing LRV have sliding doors instead of double fold doors?

    • @D40LFKing
      @D40LFKing Před 4 lety +1

      The MBTA had to swap the sliding doors bc of there riding ship so yeah

    Did the Boeing standard LRVs have foot pedals or hand controls?

    • @richmartin1427
      @richmartin1427 Před 4 lety

      E. Marquise Sanders Hand controls. The train was controlled by a hand throttle operated by the operators left hand. The type 7s are operated by foot pedals. I think the type 8s use hand controls as well.

    Did the Type 7 had a different ATOR Motor at that time?

    • @ericschwartz2062
      @ericschwartz2062 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Yes. During their overhaul by Alstom in Hornell, New York. The type 7’s received new traction motors, propulsion systems and climate control systems as well as major interior and exterior work, asbestos abatement and mechanical fixes due to some being in worse shape than others, thus requiring the greatest amount of work. The cars’ exterior skin and frame required the most work on some cars to preserve the integrity of it after suffering from severe corrosion and water damage for the last two-and-half decades among other improvements and overhauling or fixing of all of the cars’ major electrical and interior/exterior components this includes signage, seats, door mechanisms, flooring and HVAC systems. Big rust blotches appeared on the sides, roofs and fronts of the cars around the early to mid-2000s. I don’t want to remember how the MBTA allowed cars to run in such decrepit condition for so long.

      Again, remember that the original type 8’s are only 1-2 years newer than the 3700s (the first of the 20 type 7.5s arrived in early ‘97, with the first of the 100 type 8’s arriving a year later!). Some 3700s and 3800s were delivered the same year. The first two-car train, cars #3802 & #3803, went into service on the D branch on 03/24/99. (The last type 7.5 car arrived in March ‘97, with the first type 8 pilot car arriving ten months later).
