  • Philips just launched the new HearLink 50 series, which shares many physical and technological characteristics with Oticon's latest hearing aids ("Intent"). Both products are manufactured by Demant Group, out of Denmark, and both incorporate the latest in Bluetooth, AI noise reduction, and motion sensing. If history repeats itself, the new hearing aids will be available at Costco sometime in 2024 as the Costco Philips HearLink 9050 hearing aids. Tune in for my prediction!

    Costco.
I purchased Jabra Enhance Pro 30 from Costco. I was not happy as the hands free feature to answer calls was not working. Costco staff was not believing me. After 10 months of purchase, I finally gave up and insisted HA specialist to send it to the factory to investigate.
Factory changed all the parts and now it’s working fine.
So Costco staff should not be protective of the company and trust the customer.
    I suffered for 10 month!
After watching your video, I am planning to go for Philips 9050 Costco hearing aid whenever they make it available.
    Thanks for the information.

I bought Jabra Enhanced Pro 20 at Costco in January. I'm hoping that the Hearlink 9050 will be out before my 180 days are up. I tried both the Phillips and Jabra at the manufacturer defaults in the store and the Phillips sounded a little better to my ears but the audio specialist recommended the Jabras, In part due to the app. Well, the app has been updated!

Thanks for nice preview! Tried Jabra Enhanced Pro 20s Costco, returned (bluetooth instabilities, streaming quality) so looking forward to trying 9050; but, really disliked rechargeable aspect of the Jabra (having to keep track of charger, get aids to them every night, etc) and am wary of the battery-replacement timeline/cost, so I really hope the 9050 get a replaceable version

I have Phonaks from a private company that were replaced under warrantee, so basically new! And, I went to Costco today since my insurance covers new aids every 3 years. I had the best, most complete hearing exam ever. Afterwards, the technician said that Costco would soon be coming out with the 9050 model from Philips. She will call me when they arrive and I will upgrade to them!

Good video Matthew! Wish they would allow the client some ability to program certain frequencies away from the audiologist office. Programming inside an office building is far from the noises outside in the real world !! I think I read in some countries the audiologist come to your home to do programming. I have the Resound Nexia and it's only one button. With no rocker switch it makes a user more dependent on the phone app. I'm going on like two months now with Nexia and am still having a hard time adjusting from my older style CIC style. I'm not sure if REM's would help even those she matched up the frequencies from my previous ones on screen the best she could.

I bought Resound from Costco 5.5 + years ago, and bought Jabra Enhance Pro a year ago, but returned them just short of 6 months. In retrospect, I think an auto adjustment feature couldn't make up its mind what the optimum setting should be, and the fitter did not pursue that possibility. When I returned the Jabras, the fitter said if wanted to try Jabra again in the future, to make appointments with the senior HA specialist. Meantime, my Resound HAs need help, and Widex & Jabra online hearing tests indicate my hearing can be improved to GOOD (what else would they say?). I am wondering whether I should wait until Costco has Philips HearLink 9050 HAs available. BTW, I have just subscribed (should have done it 2 months ago).

I bought my hearing aids at Costco. Last bought the KS 9 hearing aid from them. Great hearing aids. needed a replacement aid for 1 ear due to dog chewing & then face mask pulling it out unbeknownst to me at the time. No replacent warranty left. Bought the Phillips set Costco carries in Spring 2023. Just did not work properly and horrible compared to KS9. Took them back after 6 months. Wish Costco hadn't burnt their bridges with Phonak. Am now wearing just 1 hearing aid from the KS9 set.

"May the best technology win" is the only way to address the challenge of trying to hear clearly in places of public accommodation. The only catch for any solution that might replace consumer-preferred hearing loop systems is that, once again, facility operators will be charged with investing in an "accommodation" without reimbursement and, sadly, most of them are unaware or not convinced that they need to do it.
While ramps and curb-cuts for those with wheelchairs, walkers and strollers are very popular and available to all, assistive technology for hearing loss (an invisible disability) is hard to come by. In spite of ADA requirements for "effective communications" the majority of owners/operators of public spaces in the U.S. are not in compliance with our ADA.
It will be interesting to see how often "Auracast transmitters" are installed in public spaces, and whether or not the new system will qualify as a solution for ADA compliance. Until then, any and all efforts to raise awareness of the critical need for assistive hearing technology to boost audio clarity and comprehension in public spaces is VERY WELCOME!

The international specifications will be completed in 2027. Currently no hearing aid can receive Auracast. No Auracast transmitter has been built. So today, use a telecoil to connect to thousands of venues/institutions/organizations in an infrastructure that already exists.

    • @juliettesterkens721
      @juliettesterkens721 Před 3 měsíci +1

It will likely be 3+years. Even Ampetronic, a MFR of hearing loop systems and working on bringing an Auracast transmitter to market - states: "Where practical to install a loop system that should still be considered as a primary choice for accessibility now, little has changed since hearing loops and telecoils were the preferred technology of choice by 86% of hearing aid users (reference on Ampetronic website). Part of this is also ease of access, in many cases accessing a loop is as simple as seeing the recognised signage and pressing a button or switch on the hearing aid. There is only one channel of audio available, and there’s no doubt that the audio you’re connecting to is trustworthy. For all these reasons it’s imperative that these technologies co-exist for many years to come. Short answer: Consumers need both telecoils and Bluetooth in their hearing aids.

@@HearingTracker In the past I have always used a hearing clinic. I just don’t want to pay 6000$ for hearing aids so I went to Costco. The funny thing is my hearing clinic called me for my annual hearing test. I told them I got new hearing aids from Costco. They told me that they would have matched the price with Oticons. I actually find Costco more convenient

The hearing aids people are buying today will be on the trash heap before LE Audio is widely available.

AI can dominate whatever it wants, except hearing aids. I have tried nine of them not one worked.
