- I was invited by the Thai government to explore the rice culture in Thailand and visited a rice field where I got to try planting and harvest rice and then enjoy a rice themed feast! This was part of the Think Rice Think Thailand Champaign.

i m 100th! i should have a prize rice!
100% agree!! 💯💯💯
Since childhood, my parents taught us this: Treasure the rice in your bowl, every grain is the result of hard work. Not only rice, I treasure every piece of food. Every minute, there still are starving people in the world.
I love brown rice 😌
That dang outfit from northern thailand was so dang bomb. It was like south america refined 😁😳
I treasure my parents if it weren’t for them I’d be homeless and hungry and naked
@@babybookworm003 i commend you sir 😔👊
Well put. I always remind myself that if you have your health, shelter, a bed, water and food you're doing very well in terms of human history.
"Eat whenever you want, whatever you want" 😂 That's a motto to live by
Love Thailand, love Thai food. I lived in Thailand for a little over half a year and never had a single food item I didn't like.
You sir are a true food ambassador. I feel like I'm there with you, great content!
"...YOU STEPPED ON MY RICE?!"
-saddest anime deaths of 2019
I threw my cat out the window...actually happened
Maria ,Maria! You remind me of a Westside story.
Hahahaha 😂
R.I.P. Mikey's rice.
And here in the states they throw rice at weddings! My parents went nuts when they attended a interracial wedding and they threw rice. They literally started picking them up. 😂 My Dad was like why would they waste food. 😂😂 He came from a very poor family in Vietnam and my mother is from Laos with ancestors. So coming to America was quite a culture shock. 😂😂
Pair papaya salad with pad Thai. It goes well together.
Oh my goodness lol bless your parents 💖
Omg I love how you're showing us about the culture too. This made me so happy ❤️
Thai Rice Festival was awesome day with tradition and hospitality. Mike, you looked like you were having a wonderful time and this was one of your best videos. Thank you. ❤
Every time I watch your videos I get happy and I don’t know why, but seeing how respectful you are of other cultures and how much you love food, that’s the content I’m here for.
3 am for breakfast...meanwhile at a Hampton Inn in the US, breakfast starts at six. Cool to learn the traditional process of rice
Avery the Cuban-American The other day I was travelling and left at like 4am and had to wait until 6 for MCDONALDS breakfast...so full breakfast at 3am is awesome lol
One of your best vids Mr Chen thank you so much.for the experience its was like i was there 🌹🤗😍
The one video where you actually immerse yourself deeply into a culture, please make more videos editted like this
I love Thai culture and their food are amazing. They use less or no greasy on their dishes...which I appreciate! 😎🤗😘😍
Honestly you are the best CZcamsr keep up the good work you deserve over 10 million subscribers
I had never considered Thailand as a destination before but your video won me over big-time. I have to visit this country!
It's gorgeous when it's not raining season!🙌
You're radiating such a wholesome aura, especially in this video. Can't help but feel relaxed and happy along with you. BTW, Chiang Mai represent!
Mike your dancing was my favorite part. Hi from Costa Rica
This is easily my favorite video on this channel (I'm more of a Strictly Dumpling fan)
Experiencing the culture like that is just amazing
Here's the Thai rice video I've been waiting for! Thanks for another awesome video!
Love from Germany at 3 a clock in the morning ❤
Nothing is better than opening CZcams and seeing a video from you !
Thankyou for this! I think this is my favorite video you've done yet.
I think this is my favorite vidéo, from all of the ones you made. Great content! Thanks for sharing.
I was at work when you uploaded. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself so much. Please don't forget to say thank you. These people look so kind, I wish I was there.
Wow, this is one of the best videos you have put out. Really shows what goes into something we consider so simple.....thank you for this!
That's amazing, I love it! Congratulations on getting to have this special experience! I bet you'll always treasure this visit.
That was an awesome video. Loved that you immersed yourself in the experience and not just filmed it.
Definitely one of your best videos. I loved watching you be interactive within their culture
This episode made my soul smile. I love to be able to see people experience other cultures, because I will likely never get to myself, though I would love to so much. I've always had a deep seated desire to travel, but never had the opportunity to, even where I live. The furthest I've ever traveled is Florida (from Texas).
Thank you to Mikey Chen, and the other CZcamsrs I watch who travel - your documentation of your trips allows me to experience travel vicariously.
Love all your videos. Really liked this one because of the fact it was very informative. Loved the history of rice. Keep it up.
very impressed the way you described everything. You are great ambassador for food and did wonderful job for this convention. Thank you.
That planting must be back-breaking work.
Mike! Your an inspiration. I’m striving to do exactly what you do. Traveling and eating? Yes please! My first stop, Japan! starting July. Anyways thank you for all the entertainment! Keep at it :)
omg yes! have fun in Japan! ヽ(‘ ∇‘ )ノ
Alexis Meade Thank you! I’ll be sure to make the most out of it!
One of the best videos. We also have a rice festival called nobanno in here Bangladesh. Whenever I go to Thailand I buy jasmine flowers first. Love your vids Mike.
Such a great video! Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
Absolutely wonderful video! Mesmerising food and culture. I miss Thailand so much after seeing this...I really need to go back there.
This was an extremely beautiful episode on mikey Chen. I mean beyond even all the delicious food, to see the rice making and culture... just beautiful.
Mike : im gonna come back on harvest season :)
Watches his hopes dreams and rice stepped on
Mike : dId yOu JuSt StEp On My rICE?!!?!?!YOU JUS STEPPED ON MY R
Love the music! Goes along with the event so well, light hearted yet full of respect for the rice we get everyday🌹
I love this video. It shows us that rice is not just a grain but it's a whole process. Thank you!
Makes me appreciate rice even more with all the effort that has been put into it. Thai rice is the best rice to cook too! Now I know why!
Love watching all of your vlogs Mikey. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Well done video..FYI, the fruit you were referring to as "Logan" is called "Longan" pronounced long gan. The soup with the chicken drumsticks and crispy noodles is a Chiang Mai specialty.."Khao Soi"
Wow! How do you know so much about that? And what is the fruit like? Micky didn't describe it like he did everything else.
Yeah, I also cringed a bit when he said "Logan". btw, the taste of longan always reminds me of lychees.
@@oakenshadow6763 it's like a lighter, less sweet lychee. Very delicious.
The way he pronounced chiang mai made me cringe
Long Gan is just Cantonese for 龙眼。 Mike grew up in USA so his Chinese skill is a bit lacking. ;p
The food looks amazing. Love your outfit. I definitely think you should get one and wear it more often
You did a live!!!!! Ugh!!!
I love traveling the world with you and your videos! The food and cultures you experience are amazing!

My perspective and love for food has changed ever since I watched your videos. Much love and thanks for the great content.
Have been waiting for this video. Very interesting and the food looked amazing. I found it amusing that they had you changing clothes for activities, but probably a good idea in the rice fields for sure!
I love every video you put out, but this one was my favourite in recent memory. Didn't stop smiling and also made me incredibly hungry. I know what cuisine I'm ordering tonight 😂
Thanks for another awesome video showcasing how beautiful and richly cultured Chiangmai is Mikey. You looked awesome in the traditional outfit as well. Much love from Minnesota. #teamsoutheastasian

I Love seeing the different cultures in food, dance and the clothes......
I know what you mean about massages, I once had an Indian head massage, & the lady was really rough & it hurt so much, I ended up more tense afterwards than I was before!

I lived there for one year. I miss it all the time.
Cold Chai!!!!
🤙🏻 Aloha Mike! Thank you for always posting about Thailand. I find it so resourceful. Just a Thai/Lao girl living in the states. Can’t wait to visit the motherland next year.
That was so cool. It's really nice to see how rice is produced and how many dishes can be done with it :)))

Love that you love Jasmine! Me too! You dancing was everything 😁🦋✨
I now know we have the same birthday! 😊😊 rice fields look like so much fun
this is so interesting!! I've not really thought much about how rice is grown! :D
The inside of that sweet sticky rice wrap is not jujube but banana. It is a smaller-shorter type called 'Nam-Wha' banana, when cooked it turned pinkish like you see in the video :)
Nice one Mike! Thanks for coming to Chiang Mai:)
Mikey Chen....such a pleasant experience watching you !
Epic! Thank you for the video!
