Welcome to my latest video where I'll be comparing two of the most popular World War II-themed first-person shooter games - Hell Let Loose and Enlisted. As a dedicated Hell Let Loose player, I was excited to try out Enlisted and see how it stacks up against the game I know so well.
In this video, I'll be sharing my experience of playing Enlisted for the first time, highlighting the key differences between the two games and ultimately reviewing Enlisted as a standalone game.
I'll start by giving you a brief overview of both games, including their gameplay mechanics, graphics, and multiplayer modes. I'll then dive deeper into the differences between the two games, from the realism of the battlefields to the weaponry and equipment available to players.
As I play through Enlisted, you'll get to see my initial reactions and thoughts on the game, as well as my gameplay footage. I'll share my opinions on the game's strengths and weaknesses, including its level design, pacing, and overall gameplay experience.
Finally, I'll conclude the video with my overall review of Enlisted, and give my final thoughts on how it compares to Hell Let Loose. I play the game for a year now and I can give you some tips:
1. In the upgrade tab I would suggest you to upgrade the A) Squad upgrades first and then B) Personal upgrades and then C) Workshop ugrades
2. Your bots can give you ammo even without an engineer. You must have zero ammo and the press ALT on keyboard and there is an option to ask for ammo. At least one squad mate must be alive for this.
3. By pressing Z you can change to a different a soldier even while alive.
4. The game is not P2W as it looks like. You can earn everything like people that pay only it takes longer but the first unlocks are capable to destroy the enemy. Premium gives you more XP and 2 more squads to use during combat. Premium squads often have worse weapons but they look cooler and ahve XP boosts.
5. In tanks by pressing CTRL you can look out of the tank but they can headshot you easily + you can change to driver or commander by pressing numbers.
6. Later in the game you will unlock better weapons but they will have more recoil too.
7. In Pacific there is more bots because not a lot of people play that theatre. Normandy and Moscow is more populated.
8. For every squad I would suggest: 1 engineer, 1 radio operator and/or AT gunner.
9. If you hear a morse code there is an enemy rally point close by where enemies can respawn. You can build rally points as an engineer. They are a must to win a game
10. By pressing V you can mark spots with enemies and your squad will shoot there sooner. Your teammates can see the marks too.
A lot of people have a problem to understand this game and I don't blame them. I had a problem too with some mechanics. I know this is a lot to handle but you will learn this slowly by playing.

@@emperorcolton Upgrading your ai is really important. Like I'm highly upgraded in Berlin for example and I don't loose soldiers as much.
@@emperorcolton One other thing if you chose the pacific for your first matches that explains the skill gaps. Go play Normandy or Berlin if you want skill.

Yeah that's what my twitch viewers were saying. I noticed the skill difference when I tried out the Berlin campaign
I'd say you're right in your assessment, but you calling it a much more relaxed game is what keeps me playing. I don't have to sweat too hard, it's not intense like a milsim, it's not stat focused like CoD and Battlefield. I can just shoot bots with my bolt action and occasionally feel good about myself when I outskill a player. No hassle.
I agree thats why I think it's definitely a go to game if you've been playing with the stress of playing with the hardcore players of any milsim game. Definitely a relaxing game 😁

It's a type of game where you hop on after exhausting day, turn your brain off, shoot people, while having a chaotic fun battle.
Disagreed. Once you reach a battle rating of higher than 100, the game becomes a massive sweat fest, relaxing is no longer a thing. Imo the game was a lot better when I was a new player and low BR
@@emperorcoltontry playing Normandy axis, you won’t be saying that. You were in games with only bots, that’s why you got the most kills.
the AI definitely is the biggest weakness it needs a rework. I think just reworking the pathing or pathfinding would completely change it. Stop the bots from taking these jagged unnatural turns and stops and just shattering any immersion
I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought that! It definitely would up the rating I would give it if they worked on that in my book

The custom server 'lone wolf' battles are great fun. Just picking the best soldier from your squad only playing against other players. It can be tough though playing at others their OP premium soldiers, but its a nice challenge. Also great is that it even earns you quite a lot of XP eventhough its a custom match
I keep telling myself im gonna try some lone wolf servers but i always forget to XD XD
It's a solid shooter that has some history. Guns from forgotten weapons. Just fun with friends.

i love enlisted, it feels like a game that just try’s to be fun without all of the hardcore aspects of most fps games. my most important tip is to always upgrade squad xp first before any other nodules.
Yeah it's definitely been sucking me more and more into it I've had to force myself to stop playing the past couple days just so I can take care of stuff I need to take care of for other games lol 🤣

I'm not saying my soldiers (IRL) are dumb but keeping them from doing dumb shit is half my job. Especially the new guys.

Nice video! Just a suggestion: if the bots become annoying, there is a game mode called "Lone Fighter" where you only play against other players and spawn with one character at a time.

Yep the only problem i have with enlisted is the AI soldiers are morons like not fun to fight at all.
If the AI could hold their own this game would completely blow me away for sure!

For sure. You would have to run it on lower to medium settings on no greater then a 1080p monitor
I've been playing enlisted since I came out. When I start the game the AI were much better, they aimed better, they hid from the enemy, they made constructions and you could even position each one in different positions that you chose at the time. Of course, the system was complex and needed a lot of practice to master it, at least I liked it but many did not think that AI was so OP. Today, AIs are the closest thing to human shields you can use in battle. In my opinion Enlisted comes to be a game similar to hell let lose (which I also like) but instead of being skirmishes between small squads is more a large-scale battle where the adrenaline is kept longer because there is no rest. In short, each one has to contribute different things that make them special and great in their way.

The thing that annoys me the most about this game is when I shot the enemies and nothing happens like if somehow someone added blank ammunition in my magazines.
And this thing happens multiple times in every game.
I feel like that happens to me sometimes too 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤣

Yup, I saw it happening multiple times in the video.
most likely it gets inaccurate if you turn just before you shoot the bullet.
@@cultofpersonalit1888 In the video, he shot window glass at least 2 times, this looks as if nothing happens but the shots broke the glass and that's it. This happens a lot in this game, most of the time your bullets get blocked by some obstacles you aren't even aware of. But yes, in some rare cases the bullets seem to just disappear. There is also a hidden mechanic in the game, called "dispersion", I think that's kinda comparable to "bullet spread" in other games. Should not happen for bolt action rifles though.
For anyone who wants more a more hardcore feel, you can play lone ranger game mode where every player controls a single unit with minimal help from the HUD and friendly fire enabled aswell

The AI is constantly being worked on but yeah it has a long way to go but I like building up my squad so if I die to a tank I can switch to my anti tank guy with a Piat launcher, or I can switch to my flamethrower guy to roast everyone on a capture point. Engineers are VERY important to your squad and your team, they are unlocked early and are a force multiplier. You can build rally points(spawn points) ammo crates, anti tank weapons, machinegun nests, AA guns. Your radioman is another one to unlock since it will let you call in artillery strikes, and smoke barrages, and when you level them up you get a massive bombing run. Also for things like ammo crates or medical crates, you will see them on your map if other engineers build them.
I really like Enlisted(been playing since OBT started) because it fills that old school COD/Battlefield/Red Orchestra itch, and as a painfully average fps fan it is fun being able to roast 8 or 9 enemies or go on a kill streak. I also play Hell Let Loose and I love that game as well, just sometimes I don't want to talk and just want a cool epic battle.
edit: When you talked about players being brain dead the first few matches, the game purposefully matches you with bots your first few matches to get you used to the game, this game will give you some intense matches, especially on Normandy and Moscow.
I love having engineers a lot of matches I find myself tending to be the only team member trying to set up good rally points or getting ammunition points set up I think it must be the hell let loose player in me lol
When you’re out of ammo, press Alt + 2 and one of your squad will give you a full mag.
Man imagine if u can play against bots in HLL to test guns and armor , that would be cool
that would help out a lot to figure out what the hell im doing sometimes lol 🤣🤣
Dont really care much about the comparisons because Enlisted is free and that's the #1 reason why I play it. A FREE multiplayer world war 2 FPS that allows you to cross platform? I'll continue to play it until they discontinue the game
Yes very true. Your definitely getting your value out of the game cause it is truly a very fun game even if you choose not to spend a cent on it
I played this game heavily at one point because I thought that over time the AI would probably get better, but it hasn't. It feels kind of pointless to me to just continuously fight against braindead hordes. lol
Yeah the AI is kinda lackluster at first it threw me off but I've eventually learned to look past it. I've learned to design my squad to support my main few fighters in the squad to try to make a big difference before they get wiped usually a engineer to get a rally point built and a radio operator for artillery strikes cause you can usually get those down before your squad wipes while your fighting with you main fighter. One thing I have found that helps with the enjoyment of the game is finding other people to play with. There are a lot of people who play on my discord if you would like to make a new battle buddy
Isn't there any recoil on this game? Feels a bit weird
when your use to playing alot of mil sims games the recoil feels almost non existent im sure its there but its hardly noticeable
higher tier gameplay has players knowing how to use the squads VERY effectively, chaining up destruction like nothing iv ever experienced in a game.

I'm pretty new to enlisted I enjoy it i love having a WW2 that's not cod or battlefields interpretation of it, I love the squad building mechanics. And it actually lets me play it on my Xbox one, I'd love to play hell let loose but it only works on the newer consoles so until then this is perfect for me
Enlisted is a lot of fun I actually need to make a new revised review video cause since this video I've put a lot more hours in and learned a lot of new things about enlisted
Yeah it definitely has it's moments I know hell let loose is way more refined and seems more tactical from what I seen I can't wait to play it one day everything I've seen on it looks immaculate

You can actually control your bots in this game there was one time i ordered them to guard a point they killed like 30+ soldiers that includes players they had more kills then me xD
You have more luck then me! whenever I have them stand at a point they usually stare off into space the opposite direction of a battle XD lmao 🤣🤣
@EmperorColton Gaming Marking (usually "V") makes them look at it and be on alert. For example, an alleyway, anything that moves in there is going to get shot at by all of them.
I need to take more time to think about placing them in strategic locations locations then 🤔
If its pay to win then how are you getting the top of the scoreboard without paying? That shows its not p2w.

Very true I wont argue with you there. I do think alot of it is coming from a hardcore shooter to a more arcadey shooter. But you do have a completely valid point my friend.
the best in enlisted is u can play solo an create ur own custom game.
if u have no premium u cant lock this server but rarely ppl join and u can do ur daily missions that way.
its alot more relaxing and whenever u feel like u play pvp.

I’ve seen elements from this indie game that are on par with call of duty minus the AI as far as graphics and features. I’m impressed. Hell let loose requires you to make friends. This is like a traditional game where you can choose to play with people or not. I would say the game isn’t easy. One shot kill matches are no joke. It’s hard core mode from call of duty. The only time your team comes in handy is when you die you can switch to them. All I would say is for the devs to make it more customizable and less expensive. The best thing about this game is historical accuracy as far as guns and troops. That may be a little less after the new update but at the end of the day they aren’t trying to put unicorn vomit into the game. This is like battlefield down to earth. Also I don’t like the idea of pay to win but there’s always someone better than you in every game most of the time lmao and I don’t see enough dlc in my opinion to spend that kinda cash.

Only time will tell! I mean for me personally spending no money on it I had alot of fun so the cost to fun ratio is definitely high XD
The recoil in enlisted is way worse if you have a semi-auto or full-auto gun as you don't have to unscope for every shot to close the bolt

if this game had no bots and was pay to play (say 30 bucks when on discount) I'd play the shit out of it.
air gameplay is fun, also like the tank play. playing warthunder this gives smaller vehicles their role

Though I have to disagree it being pay to win game. Need to put the time that's it. Plus you can build better squad without buying premium squads that cost like a new game 😂.
My biggest tip if you like the game just buy premium and you will get to good stuff much quicker. So pay to win is very minimal here..
Ive actually played the game alot more and been having a lot of fun and getting sucked into it for hours Im getting closer and closer to clicking that premium button
@@emperorcolton I'm a free loader and even I have bought some premium because the grind is LONG
I’m not sure if I’d call it pay to win. People with premium squads can get destroyed because a premium squad might increase your odds of survival, but it doesn’t fix a bad player. Equally, you can unlock stronger stuff for free, it just takes a bit of a grind, which is annoying. But, I’ve also found that premium squads with the right techniques can be combatted. So, it’s not pay to win per say, more like pay to progress 😊
After playing alot longer since I dropped this video I would say I agree. I ended paying for premium and even then it's still a hell of a grind!
@@emperorcolton totally agree. I’ve got 2 premium squads and they can absolutely destroyed by a decent player. I think they certainly help ease the grind to an extent, but a noob is still a noob, with or without a premium squad. A good player with a premium squad, well, that is a scary thought!

I don't care what anybody says If you know how to tweak the character controls and set it up correctly then honestly you will love this fucking game!
I play hell let loose which is you need communication in that game which I do.. But then when I want to lay back and not chat on mic.. I jump into Enilsted👉🏻
The guns don't have much recoil.... except when you get to the mid to high calibre full auto guns, you'll be looking at the cloud pretty soon if fire at full auto 😂

I never compare games, each game I play I love for it's own individual play.
That's a good perspective! I'm currently working on a new review video for enlisted now that I have many more hours/weeks put into enlisted. I think it deserves its own revised review
@@emperorcolton yes that sounds great, I know Arma Reforger is only a preview game for the next Arma 4, sought of like a play ground, but I've had a go on the Xbox version of Reforger and it's looking bright for the future on console, have you reviewed or tested that aswell ?

The reason your teammates are brain dead is because they don't play HLL. HLL forces you to be strategic and slow which carries over to Enlisted when you play. We're just better. I was highest kills on a few matches of enlisted. HLL is hard but I can get a lot of kills in that too, just requires more brain power.
For me the Game was good atmosfer chaos in war.. ( but ppl never play objectives!! ) they just doing random things like camper - fly plane for vacation etc you name it . the AI way more better than real player because AI always move on objectives!

Only reason why I quit playing this the AI will never get removed & devs think its a masterpiece of a multiplayer? Lol.
It is probably the same issue as war thunder: the engine and assets look enticing, but the economy and grind make it a terrible game overall.
Yep that's why I retract my statement about pay to win. it's more pay to progress. I ended up paying for premium and the grind is a lot less worst

Enlisted feels so arcade and cheap. Idk, it really feels like that typical f2p game. Played it for 2 hours and never touched it again.
Thats how i felt when i first played it but then i eventually gave it a second chance and got hooked for a couple months

Enlisted is just shit. I play it but it is hard to play. Click bait for buying upgrades. I can not even upgrade ammo quantity for a basic rifle. Players told me "that is not realistic" to have more than 20 rounds of ammo.
Weapons are allmost impossible to upgrade. I do not see how to make progress in upgrading any weapon. You get allmost no points to upgrade but it guides you to an webpage to buy stuff.
You can get ammo pouches in the logistics if you wanna upgrade your gun click on the gun in your soldiers inventory
@@spencersecrest6001 I did. Nothing happens. Looks like the game is only click bait for buying with money some coins. I did get 5 small ammo pouches but they do not show up on any gun. The whole progress thing on weapons and men is completely confusing an complicated. I am done for good with Enlisted.

How many real players are there in Enlisted? I have sometimes the impression bots are more effective in shooting me than real people.
Enlisted is just to difficult to progress and completely confusing. There are 4 groups and 5 different rifles to upgrade in each group. Man, I just want to upgrade my sniper rifle, normal rifle and submachine gun. Enlisted forces me allways to the Volkssturm with shitty weapons and I never could select any other group - not enough coins or something else confusing. There is no progress in Enlisted. The game is to difficult. Just 20 rounds of ammo? I need 200 rounds for an bolt action rifle, in each building an ammo crate and 500 rounds for an SMG at the very beginning.
I leave Enlisted forever...
the upgrade system is complicated. but all the upgrades are obtainable for free you just got to grind it out and get the proper cards to upgrade certain things i would suggest giving it another chance 😊
Hell let lose need more maps little more stable but is better like the realist hate AI

I've been playing since it launched and only ever bought 1 premium squad. The premium account is more useful as it gives you more xp.
Just treat it as a dip in dip out game when the grind gets too much.
Btw they are totally changing the progression system soon which will change how the economy works and it's gonna be a lot better
Hope you enjoy it, for people like myself who can't always sit for an hour on one match it's great.
That's one good thing about the game it's easy to dip in and dip out when I wanna play other games 🤪
