- 🇰🇬I left Kyrgyzstan's worst hotel and headed towards the high peaks of the Ala-Too mountain range on my way towards the radiated town of Mailuu-Suu. And for once I had a friend with me. Join me on a Central Asian road trip...
The Soviet Sink looked totally drained from that long voyage.

This channel feels a lot smaller than it actually is because he's so intimate and 1:1 with the camera. This feels like my own private channel that like eight other people watch, but the videos actually get millions of views. It's very nice.
His camera setup is amazing. He's able to use it effortlessly, turning it from face shot to outward without any effort. Also the resolution and exposure and especially the audio are outstanding. Do you know the camera he uses?

When I was a kid, my mother did the same thing. To this day I still don't know how she didn't kill us all.
This road was originally built by Russians in 1960s, before that Kyrgyzstan was basically disjointed by mountains and there was no way to travel from North to South without going through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The 2.2 km tunnel mr. Bald showed us is a true engineering marvel of its time built by Moscow metro builders at the height of 3500 m above sea level.

Thanks for that information, I was able to follow that part on Google Earth...Reminded me of I-70 going west from Denver, Colorado with the 2.72 Km Eisenhower Tunnel passing under the Continental Divide at about 3375 meters. Work was started in '68 and finished in '79... very similar and about the same time period.

I've one complaint...your videos are too short! Your chats with people are so good, I wish they were longer. Those talks - especially with older people - will become documented history of Soviet times. Their children, grandchildren etc will appreciate seeing and hearing their elderly relatives.

Previous generations of my family lived in a village in Turkey. They were Russian Old Believers. Would love to see you do a segment there, but It’s probably long gone. It was near Lake Marmara, near city of Bandirma.

Fascinating views. I spent ten days driving over 1000 kms in Kyrgyzstan in 2017. The Chinese built roads are fantastic, the people are among the friendliest I have ever witnessed, the food is delicious and the scenery...I don't even have words for it. Most beautiful country I have been to, and so much history around every corner. I just wonder how you get to travel there in 2020...any corona videos coming up?

Hi bald, if you love so much the soviet era, you can visit Havířov! City was built from scratch by the soviets on flat plains, and let me tell you, it is really soviet, even blind man can see it. Being built in 1955 makes it youngest city in the Czech rep. I would love to tour you around the city, and if you would have more time, even the nearest cities like Ostrava, Karviná, etc. There are a lot of abandoned coal mines, you could explore. I think you would really love it here. If you would plan a trip to Czech rep. and be interested in this area, hit me up in :)
