    Thank you Brother for this very helpful video. It gave me the knowledge & confidence to repair a single pane sliding window where the side frame (attached handle) bowed & came off from the glass. Had I not watched this video I wouldn't have the courage to unscrew the loose frame, straighten frame, reset the gasket, tap back the frame into position & screw it back at both ends. It was a great feeling after making it right. CZcamsrs like you are helping a lot of people like me hoping to fix things ourselves. God bless!

    Wish mine was this easy. Took off the brackets so the window would slide all the way up but it still doesn't allow it to pull up and out. No exposed screws anywhere on the sill or the frame.

    Very helpful....thank you. my broken window slides vertically (the fixed upper pane needs replacing), is it essentially the same process? thanks

    • @roadglassandmore9064
      @roadglassandmore9064  Před 4 měsíci +1

      So, there are 2 types of the frames.
      If you see 2 screws on the outside holding horizontal piece of frame that holds fixed upper pane, then the process it the same as in this video, but you will have to remove the horizontal frame first ( remove to screws and poll the frame down).
      But if there are no visible screws in the outside then the fixed glass is glued to the frame, there are usually removable glass stops on the inside.

    Nice Video! Are you supposed to put desiccant and inert gas to prevent the window from fogging up?

    • @roadglassandmore9064
      @roadglassandmore9064  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks.The new glass already sealed from the manufacturer when you buy it.Gas ( orgon ) is mainly used in colder states for better insulation.

    Thanks for the tutorial! My mobile home windows are like that but, the glass who I want to replace is the other one (the stationary panel) no the one that you are showing, it is possible to do it or I have to replace the whole window. Thank you!!

    • @roadglassandmore9064
      @roadglassandmore9064  Před 9 měsíci +1

      It’s possible to replace stationary side, pretty much the same process , but I’m not too sure how to replace them on RV, I looked at mine RV windows and it looks like I have to take out the entire window out, but yours might be different.

      @@roadglassandmore9064 Thanks for the answer, mine is Mobile Home (looks like house,the ones that you can move to your own land) not RV.

    what's that gasket that goes around the glass called? I can't find replacement for mine

    • @roadglassandmore9064
      @roadglassandmore9064  Před 3 lety +5

      Glazing gasket. Try that. Also measure the thickness of your glass, there are different gaskets for different thickness.

    How much does it usually cost to replacethe glass part?

    • @roadglassandmore9064
      @roadglassandmore9064  Před 3 lety +8

      If you go buy glass yourself expect to pay roughly $ 5-7 a square foot, if you hire a company to do the job expect to pay $90-120 + labor charge and cost of glass ( usually 1.5-2 times the cost)

    I thought those old dual pane windows had moisture absorber between the panes. Without it, you might get condensation on cold days

    • @roadglassandmore9064
      @roadglassandmore9064  Před rokem +1

      Old dual pane has moisture absorbing bead inside the spacer, but it can only do so much , once seal breaks there are a lot of moisture collects inside

    How is it not breaking when u hammer the frame in place

    • @roadglassandmore9064
      @roadglassandmore9064  Před 3 lety +4

      Rubber gasket that wraps around the glass absorbs the impact a little , plus the impact from a hammer directed towards the frame.

    • @roadglassandmore9064
      @roadglassandmore9064  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Don’t understand the question?
      It’s older double pane window. 1/2 overall thickness. Look closer in the video you can see 2 panes of glass with black butyl glues around the perimeter.

  • @jadsalem2723

    you did not show how you put the new glass single pane! that is the whole point !!!

    • @roadglassandmore9064
      @roadglassandmore9064  Před rokem +1

      The video about dual pane, single pane windows are similar though.
      But if your question is how to replace one broken glass side? You can’t, dual pane glass comes vacuum sealed from the factory.
