I met Jim Cuddy when I was on tour in Afghanistan. I had dinner at the mess with him. Blue Rodeo came to a war zone to cheer up us poor saps working there. God Bless them. May God bless our troops where ever they are.
Met the hole bad through their manager I met when I was 15 canvassing in toronto asking if people if they wanted there eavestroughs cleaned it was on Riverdale manager name was Quan cool fucking guy
God Bless them All🙏❤🙏
Wow 🙏🙏❤❤
What a wonderful comment! I wish you soldiers a long and prosperous life for the service you've all done for the freedom we all take for granted!!!
I got some of the bike if
This song is perfection - one of our Canadian gems.
Hello Cj how are you doing hope you’re having a great time with your family may God bless you and your family
As a neighbor just south of Buffalo, NY, and with relatives in Canada, I have always felt like a friend of Canada. Love Blue Rodeo.
@K P you are so right
Agreed ❤
This is a love song. ❤
I first heard this song on a school bus. Decades later, never gets old. I hope all of Blue Rodeo are out there living their very best lives. ❤
Thank you for standing with First Nations people here in Canada 💞 I am West Coast Salish .
Canada loves you Jim xo
Hello Angela how are you doing hope you’re having a great time with your family may God bless you and your family
Met every member of Blue Rodeo. They are the epitome of kindness and humbleness. Each and every one of the band are such great souls. Wonderful band.
It's the only way us Canadians know 😊
lucky you
Yes, and even recently (well, a bit more than a year ago, before Covid) I saw Jim at the Horseshoe - he was there to see his son play, but it was a Tuesday and hardly anyone was there, and he was so kind and took time to talk to anyone who spoke to him. People were kind enough to let him watch his son, but between sets people would approach him. I spoke with him for about 5 minutes and he was so kind, fully open and connected, even asked me where I grew up. Solid, salt of the earth guy!
One of my poker buddies got to meet them also. Big time hash smokers. Wouldn’t mind meeting them
Greatest Canadian band. Ever.
I was in a little shop in northern Ontario, up from NYC where I work and live just now. This came on the radio speakers. I almost cried with the ache of longing for those days, when Blue Rodeo was playing in all the bars and clubs. My beautiful Canada… stay TRUE TO THE CANADIAN IDENTITY . South is not Free.. it’s a disaster zone
Hello Chosify how are you doing hope you’re having a great time with your family may God bless you and your family
This is a perfect description of how I felt when I heard this song played today. How lucky we were to have grown up in Canada during that time. Just magic.
Agreed
Brilliant. This song never gets old. Full of emotions. Eighties. The best time.
Make ya smile and teer up at the same time
i know thats right!
Just saw this band for the first time (2023), they are truly fantastic! 🇨🇦🇯🇲.
Jim Cuddy is an astoundingly great singer.
The best.
This must sound so different than their other songs cuz it’s a different singer?? I think Jim Cuddy is the better singer for the band then..
The range on that guy, amazing.👍
Isnt he though. I always wanted to hear him and KD Lang sing together ❤
@Andrew Cummings nice! Blue Rodeo isn't exactly on my path and while I've always known about them, I come from a harder musical place. They really are excellent.
Blue Rodeo is going to perform at Wasaga Beach, Ontario on
Feb.18, 2024
👍🏼
I want to go but I just saw them in Windsor. Fourth row. Unbelievable.
Wasaga beach- now that brings back memories! ❤
One of the best Canadian bands!!!
So underrated
This is the ultimate song after all these years it still sounds fresh
These guys are so good and so consistent they should be international superstars.
i was working at a daycare in Toronto . his daughter was in my class that day . he came into the playground to pick her up he was so nice .
Saw Keeler and Cuddy perform at Folks on the Rocks in Yellowknife a number of years ago. They were awesome. I left a few minutes before their set was over. I was camping on the other side of Long Lake. Late into the evening I heard this song across the lake. It was hauntingly beautiful. The best way I can describe it is if your ever in the lake country and hear a loon call out (not that they sounded like a bunch of loons) its that emotion of longing that it pulls out of you.
One of the finest ballads of all time. Cuddy's voice. Wow.
This beautiful song is a Canadian Classic! I love it!
it sure is!
A true Canadian gem, our Blue Rodeo.
One of the best Canadian bands. I remember listening to it in my room during that cold winter days in winnipeg
There are winter days that AREN'T cold in Winnipeg? The year that I moved there it didn't go above -40 (C or F) for 90 days straight. Good time to enjoy Blue Rodeo!
I'd give the best nod to Lighthouse......more hits and crossed over to America too!
I'll never forget laying on the floor in my bedroom with my legs up on the bed, on snowy winter afternoons in Upstate NY...listening to these guys and the Hip! Now my husband from Cali loves the Hip too!
I too is from Winnipeg. I remember listening to these guys on winter days. I also like bad timing
@@feathercat9323 how could you be from upstate and not love both of them?!
I love this song! Jim Cuddy is awesome!!!! Blue Rodeo is a classic band!! :)
Love Blue Rodeo, going to see them in Kingston in October
One of the most poignantly beautiful n haunting songs ever!!! I remember seeing the video for the very first time. We had one of those enormous satellite dishes n I lived in a tiny lil town in NE MS. n it wouldn't pick up MTV but it did MUCH MUSIC outta Canada (,their version of MTV n far better in my opinion) n every single soul I ever played it for just fell in love with Blue Rodeo. Whoever said it sounds just as fresh today as the day it debuted is absolutely right.
Much Music was an absolute icon of beauty, fashion & music in those days!
Seen these guys play in Nova Scotia.... They blew the roof right off the building. Great vocals,,,Awesome music. Big fan off your group .
Blue Rodeo and Jim Cuddy I truly Canada's gems no matter how old this song gets it is a masterpiece
I moved to Canada in 93 with the love of my life, she showed me what love WAS...RIP my love ..I do TRY!! This was in the cassette days for sure! Great band with many great memories with my wife, in Canada
Hugh Big Knife beautiful. Hope you find another love in this life ❤️
Beautiful tribute Hugh, thank you for sharing. I also have someone to remember as I listen to this song. Your wife is as grateful as you, I am sorry you were parted too soon. much love brother xoxo
I still have my Signed Cassette.
I am sorry for your loss my friend. I also experienced what love really was and have not found it since. I am happy where I am. But that...man was it ever powerful.
I am happy to hear that you are now at peace, enjoy every moment my friend, life is far too short.
I love this song so much. Takes me back to being in high school, I was into rock and metal in the 80s but Try just did something to me and I couldn't get enough of it. I still can't, just a perfect song and incredible band.
Thank you Mr. Cuddy.
Your words helped me when I was in living on the streets
Hello jean how are you doing hope you’re having a great time with your family may God bless you and your family
I just went through a break up. Days of being alone I heard this song on the radio. Thanks blue rodeo
This is a 80's Classic! Who agrees?
Me.
It’s 90s. But , yea for sure.
@@mbjames119 It was released in 1987 on their debut album Outskirts.
Not just the 80s, it's a timeless classic.
@@markbrowne4433 Brian has left the building.
Love this song, such an underrated band!
Well put!
Singin’
Holy Smokes...this album is 31 years old...I must be old...I better go have a nap :)
NAPS ARE GREAT
haha..."I better go have a nap."
I sing this song when I am attempting to get up...”oooh, you’ve got to try...oooh, baby , you try...” It gives these old bones a little get up and go.
Just Try!!!

I "TRY" TO THINK OF THEM AS ANTHING OTHER THAN A CANADIAN MUSIC LEGEND - BUT I CAN'T!
Best thing to come from Canada, I've met Jim and the band
Agreed
When I was in grad school in southwest Virginia circa 1989, I helped DJed an event for the Taiwanese student association, I brought a tape from Canada during break and I played this song, people slowed dance to this and they have never heard of this song before, I'll never forget it!
What a voice this dude has. Totally impressed.
SAME BRO
Don't know why these guys haven't win 50 grammys. Honestly. Such quality overlooked.
Agreed
One of Canada’s greats for sure!!
Makes me proud to be Canadian with talent like this.
You can not like Blue Rodeo but you can't deny this tune.
3:41-3:58
Always listened to Blue Rodeo. This stuff never gets old. 👍🏼
The best part
I love this song no matter how old we get ❤
I love this song as much today as when I first heard it. Jim Cuddy is a great vocalist!
So long ago now, but this is when I heard who Blue Rodeo was, "Try" I became quite the fan since, and that Jim Cuddy voice. I got to see them live in Winnipeg. What a thrill that was.
Excellent très bon classique.
Slice of Canadiana!
I Never ever ever get tired of this song. Fell in love with it when it first come out, and it still makes me weak.
Such a beautiful ballad. Sounds as good today as when it first came out. Beautiful.
Still love this song
Must be great souls to put this sing together, I am 57 and don't even knowing how many years I have loved this one!
WHAT A CLASSIC SONG!!
Such a good song. Timeless.
Hard to believe this was released almost 24 years ago...it stands the test of time! Great tune to strum along to!
More like 35 years ago
I read everywhere about the 80's being the dopest of times and echo that right into eternity.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That voice...
Try "you definitely have too sometimes" this song has always been 1 of my faves never gets old
Amazing voice
The epitome of music... Canadian legends
Dear Lord Jim Cuddy... can anyone croon so well?
I sang "Happy Birthday" to these guys in Kelowna at The Keg in Kelowna in 1990/1? Such a funny memory. Saw them in concert the day after I think? It was very much a blur... Might have been a bit nervous since I was a big fan. 😄
I have listened to this song for 31 years.. This song had a huge impact on me since day one.. and I will die listening to this.. Thanks Blue Rodeo
I listened to this song as well 30 years ago...I listen to it when I need a picker upper
this song makes my eyes leak.. My mom used to blast the hell out of it when I was a kid.. reminds me of her so much
Same!
She had good taste in music :) mine too but then I began to like them too
Keep trying .
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great song
The very best song for years
I’m sorry for your loss, Nikki. Good friends are hard to find and you had one. Now you’ve got yourself an angel who will watch over you, just like she did in your chats. She’s got your back - she’s your heavenly moderator ❤
I was 13 living in Winnipeg when this song came out! I can still hit all the notes! Love this 💜
Blue Rodeo - You make my heart sing.❤
Jim's vocal on this is incredible, especially the falsetto part near the end. Classic song.
Great memories as our kids were young in those days. Proud to be a fellow-Canadian.
Can't get enough of this....... love these guys
Same here
This is the first Blue Rodeo song that I heard about thirty years ago.I have loved their music since.
Same here!
Same! I went to New Year's Eve at Nathan Phillips Square in 1988 when I was sixteen - Blue Rodeo played in the cold and I fell in love with this song. Good memories.
Still listening and enjoying.
Timeless
Just came from seeing them play, can't stop listening.... thanks for being so amazing Blue Rodeo 💙
Just heard this song for the first time earlier tonight on Zoomer Radio AM 740's The Eighties At 8. The singer is absolutely awesome! I thought it was country, but someone else here described them as a rock back with country influences.
Several years ago I was at a Top 10 Event at Elgin Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto and Jim Cuddy was a guest speaker. When finished speaking he pulled out his acoustic guitar and sang Try. Amazing vocals! For me it was a special moment because walking in I recognized the theatre entrance and Lobby from a summer job I had there in the 70’s. Now my favourite artist was on stage singing one of my favourite songs . It just doesn’t get better than that ❤️❤️
I absolutely love this song and Blue Rodeo.
Love this song since 1993 when I first time listen to this at Vancouver, it always keep on my mind !
Beautiful! Loved this song for years!
Nice to see from the comments that I am not the only one who cannot help sing along with this song ... even if I can't hit the high notes Jim Cuddy can :)
One of the best from a great, great band I've been lucky to see a couple of times. Just simply one of my all time favourites.
This is one of those songs that when I was a kid, I didn't like. Now that I'm older I can really appreciate it.
A chaque fois que je l'écoute c'est des frissons garantie meme si je l'écoute en boucle. Wow que dire de plus je vous laisse imaginer le reste … bonne écoute a tous
"Every time you walked into the room I could never be sure of a smile." sums up 11 years of marriage

In a perfect world there would be no such thing as the blues...... and that my friend would be a drag!
I grew up and listened to the band and is my favourite and seen them in concert 3 times and they were amazing to see live.
One of my all time favourites. Many thanks for the tears.
Remember listening to this when I was shopping in Dominion with my parents, grabbing every coupon I could find for my collection, early 90's.
Beautiful song
Truly a great song. It was great when it was released in 87 and just keeps getting better. I have been to three Blue Rodeo concerts and hope to be able to see them again. I play along with my guitar or sometimes sing at the top of my lungs when driving, or play it loud when working in my shop. Thank you, Blue Rodeo!
Best. Song. EVER! ❤❤❤
I don't think anyone has to try to like these guys, just comes naturally. awesome talent!
Going to their concert in November over in Dover. This band was my childhood, and I still love their music.
Is it even worth making a comment here? They are absolutely fantastic.
Makes me so sad thinking of my 20s in Toronto at the Black Bull and all the Queen St pubs. Great entertainment. You could catch BR some times.
In Florida for quite some time. Blue Rodeo always makes me homesick
I was lucky enough to attend their rehearsal back in 1989 at Bishop`s University and they were simply AMAZING!! love this song still all these years later :)
U never come in the room the same way twice!!! I was sitting on my couch in the 80s n serving in Army n was just hooked. Great band never get credit they deserve.
Simply one of my favourite Canadian songs of all time. No, scratch that...one of my favourite songs PERIOD. Thanks to Blue Rodeo for this absolute gem....
This song reminds me of all my trips to Vancouver in the late 1980s.
Great tune. Quick story: my young children grew up listening to this song and they were familiar with the words. Every time they acted up or explained their 'version' of the truth, (which I knew was incorrect, ha!), I'd break out with the opening lines of this song, " Don't tell me I'm wrong 'cause I've been watching every move that you make". They'd immediately start telling the 'truth' and then we'd all be laughing about it!! hahahah
It's these kinds of songs, that are the very definition of music. When lyrics made sense... Not like now, where they're 'subliminal', like figure out what they're singing about? We all know this song is about her taking him for granted, and he loves her... She just doesn't put effort it. Simple, eh? Just such a beautiful song, beautiful voice...
WOW! Well said, you must be a talented song writer.
vxCOCOxv hey true dat sister bro
Well said BRAVOS
I met Jim Cuddy at the horseshoe in Toronto probably the nicest guy to ever walk this planète!❤❤❤
I love this song!! Blue Rodeo is amazing! :)
