A Comet Hits Earth, Causing Tsunami All Over The World. Mankind Is In Danger!!!

- Welcome to Movie Shortens. In today's movie, we follow Leo, a 14-year-old boy who spots a comet while looking through his telescope one night. The comet is forgotten once the scientist who discovered it with him dies... The comet reappears a year later. When a several-mile-wide comet is anticipated to strike the globe and wipe out the surface people, the president goes on national television to announce their plan to save life on the planet. The problem: 800,000 people will be chosen at random to go into an underground cave fit for a two-year stay. The rest must stay on the planet and hope for survival....

I’ve always wished there was an actual scene when the US and Russia launches it nukes. Even though it was futile, it still would of been spectacular
Even though they did their best, the Comet broke into two parts which while they managed to blow up the main *troubling* part, the other was unfortunately left to drift towards Earth.

Watched it right after this video and man the feel. This video summary is good but it does not do justice to the emotional build-up of the movies. I saw some in the comment section complaining there's not enough destruction but it is bc this movie focuses more on the human element and people making amends. One of the hardest times I've cried from a movie in a while.

even if you blew an oncoming asteroid up with a nuclear missile it would just combine back together and then rain down radioactive bits of asteroid

small bits of asteroids wouldn’t make it through the atmosphere, it would get destroy on entry
@@moisescarrillo6991 unless your explosion is strong enough to first "dust" the asteroid into small enough parts, and send most of them in a different trajectory, they would reform into a semi-solid chunk again, and still destroy everything. nukes dont remove anything, they just excert force and heat and radiation on whatever it hits

I've always wondered what movie these scenes in my head were from when I was like 2-3, so it was this movie!
So like the movie Armageddon then but with it actually hitting the Earth. Yeah this is way darker, at least in Armageddon there was only a handful of deaths and the guy got the girl in the end, but this movie is giving away death and separation from loved ones like Christmas presents.🤔😬😂
Paris gets annihilated in Armageddon, that's about 2 million right there but still very low compared to the numbers that would've died from the mega tsunami in this film.

That president speech in the end on the ruined capital step was a great speech was one of my favorite scenes and that would be in the history books as one a the greatest speech ever if it happened in real life

One of my favorite movies. Preferred this one over Armageddon. I liked the premise & more realistic storyline of this movie vs that one. It has Denise Crosby (Bing Crosby's granddaughter, & she played Tasha Yar on Star Trek, TNG). I think this was the first Leelee Sobiesky movie I saw (she was in a movie called something like The Glass House; my sister or friend thought she & Blake Lively were the same person. I long thought Leelee, Helen Hunt & Jodie Foster could play each other's relatives). Anyhow...

Easily. The raw data would be kbs, not megabytes. And even if there were graphics in there, they’d be in thousands of colours, not millions and of low resolution. I was around then. My first hard drive was 40mb!
