The more I see Conny settle into his role, the more convinced I am that he is the right man for the job, and will be for a long time to come. Even as a player, he was always forthcoming with media, says a lot without ever actually saying too much. He’s really established himself this first year. Has his work cut out for him at the draft, but I’m confident that he has enough picks in the first four rounds here to at least hit on a few of them. Better not think he can wait until the Dallas pick to take Justin Poirier tho lol

I like the fact that he is not making rash decisions. He took a lot of heat for waiting to trade guys but the results so far have not been bad.

I thought the conversation flowed very nicely through the segment with Craig. Well done guys. And Craig pls keep your chin up! Love seeing you like this. I felt through most of the interviews after trades it was obvious to see Conny was getting worn down by the flux of the team this year

I said it last summer so I'll say it again... You guys (Boomer and Pinder) are at your absolute best with these longer form interviews! Love it! Can't wait to see what's in the hopper for this summer.
That was quality content throughout. Conroy is a gem and I love how forthcoming he is but still keeps his plans close to the vest. Happy to see him steering this ship into a promising future!

I love what Conny’s done so far and look forward to his leadership of the team going forward. Also love that he makes the time for these interviews and gives the people what they want. They should have a documentary following Conny around the office for a year. That man is likeable as hell. If Craig Conroy had a movie made about his life he would be played by Greg Kinnear.

Conroy is a pretty straight forward guy. But credit where credit is due - Boomer and Pinder are very good interviewers. Sure things might get a little loopy on Barn Burner with Retro thrown into the mix. But these two lads really know what they are doing. It doesn't feel like an interview, just 3 people chatting hockey.

I'm in Conroy's corner. The only thing missing from our historic Stanley Cup run is a Calgary Flames team pushing us even harder - and I mean to the brink like the 80's. Those games back then were iconic and must watch TV no matter what team you supported (from Vcr to Mtrl). We've been deprived of the greatest rivalry in hocky for years, either we've sucked (and it was mostly us for a decade) or the Flames. My fear is when the Flames build into a powerhouse, we'll suck again :(

Lots of draft picks. Good news is Craig has been scouting live for years now so between him and the staff he's got a pulse on the new up and coming crop. So hopefully his decisions pan out in a few years

Stressful yes. But at least he gets an immediate opportunity to put his stamp on the team and implement his ideas. I would think that anybody who aspires to be a gm would want to build the team the way they want. Pass or fail it will be his team. I think Conroy has done a great job so far under the gun and now let's hope the drafting goes well. I really like the idea of being disciplined with contracts. That is something the last gm was not capable of.
Great interview. No doubt we'll develop some gems in the long run, but whether they can sign and secure key players through their prime is still unsure. Craig is awesome, but we've really struggled on this part even when he was AGM and now as GM. When Zary, Pelletier, Sharangovich and Coronato realize their potential, hopefully they won't become the next round of exodus for greener pastures (Tkachuk, Bennett, Hanafin, Fox, Johnny to a certain degree).
Wolf needs more playing time. I hope the Flames can pick up a veteran goalie who’s had success in his career- I would suggest Martin Jones for some backup Insurance. He is cheap on a 1-2 yr contract for $900,000 great goalie near the end of his career.

People talking about rebuilding depression, I love the rebuild. Honestly I am so excited for it, I’m sick of being a kid team let’s shake it all up.
It's frustrating when you watch a team that's up against the cap limit and you know they are not good enough to win a cup and are barely making the playoffs.

Honestly should have been able to get Jerseys 1st this year with Markstrom 50% retained. Conroy just had to work for it.
So if YOU were the GM of New Jersey, you would have traded the 10th pick for a soon to be 35 year old goaltender? Imagine Calgary giving a high draft pick for Mike Smith, same career as Markstrom.

@@chadlitz8101 my comment was with the 50% retain salary, so you would do that trade if you were the GM of New Jersey? I would have used that 10th pick to land Soros or Ullmark but see Markstrom was the cheaper goalie to land hence the 10th pick was never in play.
Not a fan of Craig as a GM he has plenty of runway to prove me wrong but how can you not like him a person?

I dont know about the Tanev trade. Especially losing the conditional pick. But if tanev walks then it is a win. Besides you have to like tanevs sacrifice attitude but the flip side is he gets hurt a lot.
