The implication that the spiders couldn't enter the house just because you locked the door is funnier to me than it should be.
They’re like vampires, they can’t enter without permisison

The factoid that spiders eat 3 humans in their sleep is actually a statistical error. Average spider eats 0 humans in their sleep. Spiderbob, who lives in the woods and eats 10000 humans each day, is an outlier and should not have been counted.

I love how you got spiders its random in The four days that the player must survive have different possibilities of encounters. It is possible to encounter a swarm of locust, mutated spiders, or a cloud of poison.
So if manly got invaded by the poison cloud instead of spiders, he is basically screwed?
@@roboticbob1.016 HE WOULD have used the plastic wrap on the windows instead of iron bars
@@roboticbob1.016 nope regardless of what you get, you can always get a perfect night without exception
@@onibeebee That's not what they're saying. Manly was preparing for spiders, so he had open windows (!) reinforced with iron bars which have holes in them. I guess that means in the case of a poison cloud he would indeed be screwed and have to reload a save.
I was wondering why he got spiders, I always thought on first playthrough it was always a specific order
The moon is a nice touch, you can just see it eerily broken in pieces
Seriously the don't escape and deep sleep series are very well made. Kudos to the dev/s
Yes. Scriptwelder is one of my favorite indie devs, he never fails to deliver something great.
Scriptwelder is one of the best creators to come out of the late Flash game days. So glad they stuck around and still make great games.
Polish people make good games.
@@vahlok1426 Is he still doing stuff? What's he doing?
Also when you are outside the farm house the moon changes to look like it is covered in spider webs.
Ah yes, I remembered this series. This one will be, without a doubt, one of the longest of the series. Get some snacks and drinks, buds, 'cause this will be a very good watch.
It also feels very different from the previous three games. Not to mention, 4 Days to Survive reveal much of the lore of the Don't Escape series as some people said that 4 Days to Survive actually has some connections from the first three.
@@Isaac-gh5ku It also has some connection to the Deep Sleep series that made by the same dev(s).

I expected this game to end like the others, in where you fend off the "NONONO" and that's it. My expression dropped when you got a stat increase like "m-more? there is more?!"
Oh, there’s a hell of a lot more. This game is bonkers awesome compared to the rest of the series; it’s one of the best pixel games ever imo.
Okay, I don't have any sort of anxiety condition that I'm aware of, but I live in a cabin in the woods. With my headphones on, every creaking wood sound from this game sounds like it's coming from my cabin's front door and I think someone's coming into the house. I have to keep pausing to make sure it's just the video. lol
If you live in a cabin in the woods, I bet watching horror games like Slenderman creeps you out extraordinarily
A birdhouse is hardly a cabin in the woods
Wow, ArmorGames... I haven't hard that name in years.
I love Manly's playthroughs because he is so thorough in demonstrating all of the content, even if he might have to save scum a bit (of course avoiding if possible). I do not have the means to play myself so I'm grateful that he shows off as much as possible in each game he plays and especially in all of Scriptwelder's excellent games. It's also awsome that he reads all of the notes and details aloud. I always look forward to your videos!
Very well said 🙏
The game gives you like 12 save slots im sure they expect you to save scum
Oh man, spiders. I had those too my first time through. I love this game, I play it once every 4 months or so just to see how fast I can finish it. Hope you’ll enjoy the game as much as I did! Also: in my opinion, your voice really suits the protagonist, Manly!
Wait, you can get different enemies?!
@@mimble52 thats the rng factor. There will be different disaster everytime
Mya Iman for every day there are 2 different disasters that can happen. In New Game + you specifically get the opposite set to your first playthrough, so there’s no repeats. It makes it a hell of a lot more fun to play through again to get the True Ending.
@@Armund_Wolffe Man, SPOILERS
I love this game myself, each time I think of it I get an adrenaline boost, I love the story, I had spiders the first time too, I have done a series on youtube myself actually, it's one I'm most proud of
I like how the dev is constantly trying new things with these. It makes each game feel special while keeping the premise of the series intact :)
Originally, this game was called “Don’t Escape: 4 days in a wasteland”
Do you know why it was changed?
Jere Mossy I’d be lying if I said I did
@@motorman1318 i think it was copyright i dunno
@Jere Mossy Fucking Wasteland devs came threatning with legal action.
...Because they own the word Wasteland now, apparently.
It’s about time! On a more serious note, I’m so happy you’re playing this game!
It's finally here! I feel like I've been waiting an eternity for this.
also I'm afraid to say that the game started with spiders anyway. Possibly major spoilers for the other first day threats and more below:
-A corrosive gas that, well, does corrosive things. Not much to say about it, but it's possibly the least creepy of the scenarios.
-A swarm of flesh-eating locusts. Objectively the creepiest, unless you have a decently mild case of arachnophobia, then the spiders are creepier. These things are also a big struggle, you need to know a lot of stuff before-hand, and the weapon you use highly affects the locusts downed. I won't spoil much, but the rifle is the worst weapon possible to use, especially with the limited ammo.
P.S: Each and every playthrough will give you a different combination of scenarios on the first, second, and third days. This makes several playthroughs have their own unique experience, require adaptability, and more. The first day has 3 scenarios, second and third have 2 each. The fourth and final day is always the same; though I'll leave it to Manly to find out what the fourth day holds for us.
P.P.S: There are 4 results for the end of the day.
Result 1: You fail to keep threat out and die, and you get sent back to the point before you run out of time.
Result 2: You do a good job at keeping the threat out, but some of it still gets in and makes it, so you end up losing an hour of time to use the next day.
Result 3: You do a good job at keeping the threat out, but you have to use your equipped item to finish it, no penaltys or bonuses.
Result 4: You do a PERFECT job at keeping the threat out, not even having to use your equipped item. Like how Manly and most others do it, as well. You get a +5 kg permanent carry capacity bonus, allowing you to hold more useful items at once.
The final; P.P.P.S:
This one is just in case Manly decides to read this. The game actually doesn't have a good ending the first time you play it. In the future, you'll have to pick between two future allies. The other will die. Each one of those future allies can access special areas only they can, that lead to specific items. Both of them are required for the good ending. You might wonder, how do I save both? If you start the game again after completing it, there are changes on your second try. And if you explore up a certain set of stairs in David's prediction dreams, you'll have the capability to save the second ally you had to let die. Then everything will fall into place, the final missing piece of the puzzle.
I hope I didn't spoil too much for ANYBODY who reads this, but I did put a warning up above.
Hopefully he reads this or a simular comment and actully dose another run,but i expect him to just do the one run, also there are two scenarios for day 4,just VERY simular
I thought the beginning scenarios changed! I watched John Wolfe play a while back and he had the corrosive gas beginning. It's definitely the sign of an awesome dev who puts this much work in a game series so that it can be replayed multiple times with multiple outcomes.
Thanks that explains why markplier was deallng with different stuff then manly here
I love this series. I hope the game developers keep making episodes.
What can they do from here?
@@fireshockgamer6734 You mean story wise? The Don't Escape series jumps around what time it is playing during all the time. As far as ideas go? Well, that's something more difficult to figure out.
Really though this was just to wrap the games up and explain everything.
@@fireshockgamer6734 Minor spoiler alert.
Don't Escape serie operates on a concept of multiverse. There are multiple hints, pointing towards previous games in the serie.
There's probably never going to be a new Don't Escape game now
I was actually having a very bad memory flux when I saw that Manly was posting this game and thought to myself, that he's reposting or replaying the game that was updated or something, when in reality my brain was pulling from when I saw Markiplier play the game.
It was a very long game and I recall enjoying the whole thing.
All I can say and ask of you Manly, if you read this...is to be very thorough and search all the possible actions you can do before comitting.
I love pixelated games like this akin to the older games from long ago. I appreciate the play through!
5:08 Hey, it's Armor Games! I remember playing Crush The Castle on their site back in the early 2000's. It's good to see they're still making games.
Meh,Kongregate was better still.
And I remember playing The Last Stand Union City a lot. Too bad I spent so long without visiting or I'd know the paid DLC became free all the way back in '16.
If the main character had Arachnophobia he’d be screwed.
The evils of Majora are so universal that it's pouring out into other games!
5:07 My jaw dropped and my mouth curled into a huge nostalgic smile once I saw the words "Armor Games Studios"
Oooh I've been waiting for you to play this one!
A helicopter- (crashes)
Oh Crap!
A legitimate response when a helicopter crashed into your shelter.
"Yeah you better run, I have the power of a gun!"
I think the spider figured that out before you said it. Great phrase though.
I remember my first day being the locusts. I hope you manage to do an awakening playthrough.
Yes! I need both bois alive
I must say. I'm Impressed!
Never have heard of this game before, or the prequels for the matter but boy, it is well made! It balance well the resource management and puzzles with the horror, the nightmare scene set the tone perfectly and kept me on edge the whole playthought. Would I like to know more? HELLYEAH!
The desolate feeling of this game is incredible. So much more powerful than even triple A post apocalyptical games.
I find it interesting that the protagonist walks both against the wind and towards where the spiderwebs are blowing from
I'm in love w your videos
You get a bonus every time you make a perfect shelter against the threat.
Super dramatic voice: “a helicopter”
Bruh voice: “OOHH CRAP!”

Hmm, i wonder how much worse this would have been if the dev knew that spiders dont really eat their prey as opposed to melting their innards and slurping them up like a living juice box.
Love that you got into this, Manly. It’s a pretty good game, even though I’ve forgotten many of the details already. Will be nice going through it again while watching you.
I was waiting for this game. Excited to see you finally play it. Keep up the great work.
My exact words at the end were echoed “oh crap” ! Can’t wait for more :) great play through!
Oh my god I've been waiting for you to play this, super excited for the series!!
I was thinking about the possibility of Manly playing this game yesterday! Wow! I'm really glad to see that he is playing it now!
This is interesting stuff here, i know the spider apocalypse story has been done to death but i like the spin they did on it here with the destroyed moon an all.
26:40 - that sound... I'm getting DS1 flashbacks.
About dang time! I been wanting to see you play this for AGES!
Yes watched this series a year ago and it was beautiful. And now Manly plays it too !
I've been waiting for this! Gonna be great!
I love this game.
I come back to this playthrough every now and then to relive the experience :)
For horror to work when it's applied to a given cast, one must be brought to care for said cast and to worry about their well-being.
Most horror games / movies fail at this.
I love how he had to stop talking about spiders because “why is there moon split in half-“
I loved this game, I didn't get spiders the first time, had no idea it could be different that's pretty cool
Manly: "hell yeah I want the crowbar" Also manly: "M O N E Y"
I’ve been so so excited for you to play this game!! :D I’m hoping you play it twice for the true ending :)
Don't Escape 4 has finally come... Thank you for this Manly... We appreciate it...
_You shouldn't tease about spiders_ :(
It doesn't matter if humans eating spiders in their sleep isn't true - I don't like them. I'll be glad to see you triumph in game!
I love watching u play these different games...keep up the awesome work bro 💯👍
Nice! I was looking forward to your playthrough of this; perfect run so far, well done! 😄 I love these games, especially for the more unusual concept of having to barricade yourself inside somewhere for various reasons, instead of just escaping your environment like plenty of other games (hence the title!). It somehow feels more exciting and scary, especially at night! 😱 (Ick, why did have to be spiders? 😩)
This is definitely the strongest of the series so far (though the others were equally enjoyable), you can see how the creators improved with each game, which is cool. It's a good survival challenge with time management elements (which I usually dislike, but it's done well here and it's also fair), weight limit issues (can't carry everything like some protagonists!), unique threats at night for replayability, puzzles, great characters and a fascinating story, with strong world building and mystery. This is certainly a favourite of mine, so I'll be looking forward to the next video! 👍
Really like this one and how you managed wisely. The heli was a nice touch except when it crashed. This was a bit short tho.
That's a great cut at the end. I love your work, as usual. :3
5:05 Yeah, this game is definitely RNG. The last person I saw play this started with a snowstorm, not giant spiders.
Finally!!!! You played it I've been waiting for you to play this

One of my favorite series you played. I feel like Don’t escape 4 days to survive needs to have a hd remake or something for a larger audience to see or a show or a movie.
I love the art in these games! It reminds me of the old LucasGames from the 90's like Monkey Island and The Dig. I believe my parents were nice enough to buy me every game they made, or at least the vast majority of them. God, I almost fell like a kid again watching these playthroughs. It's like I'm sitting at my computer in my bedroom with a cousin or friend trying to figure out the puzzles, just chatting and reading the lines out loud in character voices we would make up.

This game has some decent replay value just from the random threats that appear and how you handle them.
Yes! I was wondering when you would play this, cause it has been a while since the last playthrough in the series.

Your voice and way of speaking reminds me of Marshall Dyer. Calm and relaxing, could listen to you for hours and not know what the heck you said and still enjoy it.

Yeah if I had a dream I was attacked by giant spiders, I would probably have a heart attack in my sleep. Espically if I woke up and saw giant cobwebs. Arachnophobia, my greastest fear, why do you hold me so?
The beginning for this game is different every single time I mean like the creatures that attack you in the days you got giant spiders but might be something different than next time you restart
I love how you keep a serious and calm voice during gameplay
it would've been really annoying if you had a screaming, happy voice during this, it would've ruined the atmosphere
but thank god you keep the atmosphere perfectly! I can actually feel the tension of the world freacking ending whit you!
