It's posturing by them both and it has less to do with each other than who's watching them. Trump's not going to be particularly touchy feely with any man and he was tolerating Macrons physicality and wanted to be seen as tolerating it. Macron was being as physical as he could because that's an "inside space" and communicates a bond, publically. Here's the important part: it has nothing to do with sincerity of feeling.
