  • It dawned on me that many perhaps do not know about the old 1/10th Scale RC Car models from HBX (Haiboxing), as the smaller scale HBX models seems to dominate the market and brand nowadays. It also dawned on me that I have never speed tested the 1/10 models I have in my collection. Definitely not the cleanest and not the fastest, but here they are. Hope you enjoy!

The two buggies, the HBX Rocket Buggy 1/10 4WD and the HBX Quakewave 1/10 2WD (re-branded in the States as the Redcat Twister), are quite dear to me for nostalgic reasons, as they where my first 1/10 hobby-grade buggies when I got back to the hobby. The Quakewave was sold way back then, so here is a re-debut of a new second hand unit I got my hands on recently. Glad to have it back now. I remember it seemed very fast back then ... but not so much now. Might have to throw a new motor in it.
Not too sure what I think about the two trucks, the HBX Volcano XP4 1/10 2WD and the HBX Stealth X09 1/10 4WD. Both where acquired second hand recently for some too tempting prices. I haven't been running the Volcano much, mainly because I have several Tamiya Monster Trucks with the same speed and gearing (slow) that seem to do that job fine. The Stealth X09 is the second unit I have tried of that model. Both times it has seemed a little bit too heavy and fragile for my taste with all that aluminium, and I am really not a fan of looks of the body. So since I have some used spare parts lying around for my Rocket Buggy I will be converting it to a lighter truck and see if it gets more run time like that.
