I've FINALLY started learning the F-16 and i'm falling in love with it.
I own most of the modules in DCS and I always grab the F16 when I jump on. It's just great at everything!
Im so eager to start playing but the prices of a TrackIR are sooo high and putting me off..

The sad thing is, the YF-17 that the F-18 was based on was apparently quite stiff competition for the YF-16. Granted, there were a lot of changes made to both aircraft between prototype and production, and the F-18 especially ended up being purpose built as a multirole fighter rather than the ACM monster it started out being. But the legacy Hornet at least should've had some of the same potential as the Viper.
In 2020, I have found the GS CZcams channel and watched quite a few F-16 vids, then I jumped onto the GS Server. I absolutely demolished most of the other players in that server simply by copying what GS does. I had little to no understanding of BVR fighting, MAR or even dogfighting but I got a lot of kills and mostly returned to base safely, to rearm my AMRAAMs... The F-16 really is a superior BVR fighter to most jets out there, proved by me, a dumb-dumb who doesnt know anything about BVR, but can lock someone 60+ miles away and press a button...
Because: Fly high, IFF, lock, launch Fox-3, crank, defend, maybe RTB, or (if not RTB) reengage, isnt really that hard lol

Can you do a video like this where you handicap yourself with sparrows? I'm curious to see how much different your decision making is when you keep your radar locked on the target.
I would die every single time lol. If you’re getting a sparrow kill on a guy who is armed with amraams either he has no idea what he’s doing or you got very lucky lol.
So serious question here; if the F-15 has similar speed and a better radar firing the same weapons, how is it not a match for the F-16 at those ranges?
It’s not really about the ranges as much as it is about situational awareness the f16 has with its datalink vs the f15 which doesn’t have a DL.

In reality, where the F-15c has a datalink, it would demolish an F-16.
Actually a well flown F15C with good radar operating skills destroys any other aircraft. The only thing a 16 can do is to stay away and wait the opportunity to attack when he switches to another target

I have a soft spot in my heart for the F-5, the Viper, and the Hornet. They're lightweight, relatively low cost, easy to maintain, and get the job done.

Combat in the F16 is so much fun. But combat aside, one of the things I love about this module the most is that it really gives you a feeling of flying. I often take it out for a spin for that reason alone.

If you can, try placing the maverick in pre mode and finding your target with the TGP. Also something I learned (the hard way), is place your maverick seeker in narrow view to fire from a longer range.

The Viper in AA load out yes, it's a hellion in the dogfight arena. A mixed load out, it doesn't perform so hot with. Lots of drag.

F16 is my most jet favourite since i am kid along side the f15 i am now 22 and the f16 all of my life showed me it me its acting as expected deadly as a viper and fast as a lightning
What a beat in the heart for the last dogfight. I think you should practice your MiG-29 against an Su-57 Felon in both BVR and dogfight scenarios. My 21st mention about it, I suggest. You always made thrilling BVR combat situations using an F-16, so why won't you try a MiG-29 on a Russian 5th Gen fight? It should be great to know the jets' flaws.

It would be interesting if a F-16E model comes to DCS. The improved AESA radar and more powerful engine could really show the maximum potential of the aircraft.
@@RW-zn8vy Less classified than the F-22 which is in DCS. The F-16E is actually an export model for the UAE. The US Air Force never even bought them.

I started with the F18 for the longest time. I then moved to the F16 for a good chunk of time. Then I went back to the F18 and after a few fights I was like NOPE going back to the F16 and been there ever since. I just wish they would update it with a modern F16 cockpit and loadout.
Why? The F-18 is better in BVR and much better in ACM than the viper.
@@thebrain7441 Personally, it's just the view and the speed. I do miss landing on a carrier, and all the campaigns of which F16 has only a few. DCS-wise, F18 has much more going for it.

question, how exactly does your RWR/ radar know what kind of radar you're being locked by ?
Every radar has a distinct signature. Using this signature your RWR will tell u what aircraft is trying to lock you
