The C-RAM certainly looked pretty....while not being on. They didn't intercept any of the incoming missiles that the Patriots missed.

@@sze9000 It's coming in, they simply need to shoot at the incoming missile, not shoot at it at range. Not the most ideal weapon system to counter them, but it's that or get hit, so let them loose.
The incoming missiles may have been too far away. In the US Navy, we have something very similar to C-RAM; it's called the CIWS, or close in weapons system. Most of the missile strikes were far away, maybe too far for the C-RAM to engage.
counter rocket, artillery and mortar, the fact that missile is not being mentioned in the name has maybe something to do with why it didn't intercept
CIWS was designed to take out anti-ship missiles. It seems likely that C-RAM can perform similarly.

This was great, very tense! I'd love to see this exact same mission with some other aircraft just to see how that changes up things. The Raptor, of course, to see if you can get away with less defending and more hunting - maybe even get to a merge and pull off a Fox-2 or gun kill.
A Eurofighter or Rafale or something armed with Meteors would be interesting too because of the advantage in standoff capability. They were pushing you with Phoenixes from early on - despite being outnumbered, being able to do the same defensively from a distance could sabotage their approach.
Did those C-RAMs ever end up opening fire at all? There was a distinct lack of 'lead laser' fire as that base was pummeled.
So how did the fight play out after you were smoked?
it was obviously an impossible scenario but it's super impressive how you survived that long and got a kill too!

The reason you get the master caution after dropping tanks is that you need to change a switch to CAT 1 below the emergency jettison button. That changes some parameters in the FCS because it limits performance when you have tanks or bombs

It took you almost 5 minutes to rollout and reach the runway and take -off. That airbase configuration is murderous. Thank the Patriot battery for being able to take off.

I saw the Phoenix air-to-air missile up close, it is very scary. He will not let go until he reaches his goal. Many Iraqi pilots were killed while talking because they did not know where the F-14 shot at them.

From what I could see, the C-RAMs did not engage. Sad, concidering there was an area that was fragged in between several C-RAMs.
