    Hi Ben, thanks for all the very informative videos. I have 3 questions :
    1) after I get a pump do I stop, or, do I carry-on doing more reps?
    2) why do I not get a pump some yes? 3)And do I fix that?

    The isolation of the biceps via contraction and connection has already increased my strength in 3 weeks! Straight bar curls always niggled my wrist as I increased the weight. Plus I literally just couldn't curl any heavier at a certain point. So I went right down to a 15kg bar, focused on massive contraction and engagement in the bicep, removed all engagement of loss of form. To my surprise yesterday I did my last set on a 32kg bar. For me this is a massive jump.
    So why did it happen? If my previous form engaged stronger muscles to do some of the load, no proper contraction of said bicep, it left me with no power to increase. Why? Because when you remove everything else's opportunity to get the weight up you are left with just the biceps. The mechanics of the movement is to engage the bicep maximumly. If your other muscles are taking the load the the bicep reaches a certain point and there is no real strength power to increase the weight. The other muscles are not really the proper muscles to use to do the curl. They only help up to a point. So by using your biceps in full contraction all the way through they are finally getting the load they need to grow.
    So this technique has helped me move beyond my previous best with the exercise, with great focus and engagement. Plus ditto happening with all my other muscle groups apart from legs so far. That's still a work in progress.

      @mjrowden Před 7 lety

      819Dan tbf, the ez curl bar is great for certain things. I find that the growth of my bones means that a flat curl bar is very painful on my wrists.

    when I tend to supinate my elbows come forward is that because the weight is too heavy?

    • @mjrowden
      @mjrowden Před 7 lety

      stacey keller Yes. Your forward movement at the elbow is compensation and reduces the tension on the bicep.
