5:16 - The 600+km is *unique* roads, so *before* they get split into shorter/reverse stages and such. Also, multiply that by about 4, because most are playable in all 4 seasons.
Thanks for the clarification, that sounds great!
*Vince McMahon falling out of chair*
Wow that sounds just awesome !
Nice! Can you confirm about real triple screen support with 3 different rendered viewports? Or does triple mean the hud is in the center?
Whoa. That is bonkers, probably one of the best things I've heard about the game so far!
“It feels dangerous being excited for a new game to come out these days” is the realest thing I’ve heard about the modern gaming industry
💀
I'm glad someone else said it, it's both everything I always wanted for codies and at the same time...EA could ruin a nice day outside if they tried hard enough.
This will probably be the only video on the game I’ll watch until release.
It’s EA man. They’ve got some bullshit up their sleeve. I can feel it.
I'm hoping this just ends up being Codies with a bigger budget. Always like their games but they feel like they need a little more to feel complete imo.
@@Bwillev Their usual trick is to get all the older titles removed from Steam so you have no option to buy the new microtransaction-infested version.
Why is everyone talking about EA, if Codemasters themselves already had so much monetisation in their lackluster games already?
@@Bwillev Either some really B.S pricing models or a rushed out game with two many cooks in the kitchen without enough time to communicate properly. Hope I'm wrong.
8:54 RBR vs EA WRC is ultimately the same argument as something like F1 cars on AC vs the F1 games. One is about muh super ultra realistic handling while the other will actually have the thing basically no modern sim has aka an actual gameplay loop for you to come back to (because no matter how good muh physics are you need *something* to tie the thing together) in the form of a fleshed out career mode. That or being able to run a full championship with the cars, drivers, tracks and etc just like the real thing.
It's so frustrating. Especially since a game with realistic physics and a great game loop is within reach. It's so close, but noone is making it happen. Since discovering RBR, I just can't go back to the physics of Dirt 2.0, but now I don't have a career mode. And the career mode in Dirt 2.0 was still very bare bones. A dream game would be something like the career mode of Gran Turismo and the physics of AC with gravel added.
I can see from a development standpoint it must be hard to get everything to align. The talent needed from the physics team like Assetto corsa or RBR but with a mature career mode and the money of EA. Not to mention the skills it takes to make a good online ranking system. I think we will just have to keep dreaming of the day it happens
@@ztarzcream and the damage model of BeamNG
It's called competing against other human beings and being competitive. No career more or time attack can give you the thrill and pleasure of placing high in a loaded rally against humans.
RBR gives hardcore rally enthusiasts everything they need. This new WRC will cater to the casual crowd and the game will suffer because of it.
Harder is better
@@JaredPaul01I'm honestly hoping this new WRC is just that. The complete package.
You and me both - DR2 lived up to the hype for me, but this having about 4x the number of unique KMs and a complete focus on rally (no RX or hillclimb) is incredibly exciting. Having new classics like the Hillman Avenger, Talbot Sunbeam and Mitsubishi Gallant is just as cool as the modern kit to me.
I've been excited by AMS2 development and where other games may go, but this is the first one I've just been hyped for on day 1.
Lovely video and look forward to the game and your take on it in just over a month. One note on the video; it will still be some long stages split up as per DR2, just there's average 35km per location instead of the ~23km from DR2.
The 'extra' locations look like they'll be Corsica, Spain, Norway and then two from New Zealand, Australia or Indonesia.
Really excited about seasons in a 'career' mode, if it means you get a varied calendar each in-game 'year'. Apparently it'll be available for 16 of the 18 locations (not Sweden or Norway).
Can't believe there wont be any UK locations! Still excited for it though
The 'Regularity Rally' mode is a fascinating decision, should be a good way to learn the physics and do a bit of recce. Don't think regularity racing has ever been portrayed in a game before
I heard about that, it does sound like a really curious way to race!
Really excited bruv, all i want is a to really enjoy the cars, tracks and all the other modes.
If anything this will make rbr more popular. People will come in with wrc and want to see what else is available. Its a win win for everyone really.
They will also have triple screen support and possibly dynamic weather changes. I hope the new engine also finally means we can save our replays and upload them to share. And being the official WRC game, I am hoping they will have Super Special Stages this time, like the previous official games had. 🤞
The WRC series had stage design that was so superior to Dirt Rally 2.0.
DR had better physics, VR, and rallycross, but the rally stages were really generic beyond the level of detail present in the different countries.
Spain was different from Finland, but I’d be hard pressed to differentiate one Spain stage from another, whereas each stage from Spain in WRC would have some unique landmark, conditions, and strategy.
WRC also had the mini game of team management and a progressive upgrade system. Not to say that I always love this, but it gave a better sense of progression and “career” than DR 2.0, which is something to consider when you’re playing what amounts to a single-player game apart from rallycross.
A sense of place and unique conditions are what rally is all about.
Really hoping they can nail the stage/location design and fun game modes in addition to surpassing DR 2.0 physics and gameplay (wheel + VR) support.
Rally is my favorite discipline and I am hoping for the best!
This! I'm really hoping the stages will be on a WRC Generations level. In the last reveal video they said stages are modelled after real world stages. Let's cross fingers.
We'll see how good these new stages are, but they're all based on real roads so how can you say that's bad? We'll be getting 25km+ of the actual El Chocolate stage in Mexico for example in the new WRC game, KT stages were fake... people complaining about REAL roads being poor stages are a bit odd. They just picked average stages which were very flat for the most part and roads were too wide. New WRC looks narrower and has a better colour palette.
I'd rather real roads and famous stages, thanks! Codies were just severely hampered by what they could use previously due to not having the WRC license.
in what world DR had better physics than KTs WRC 10/11/Generations??
@@kristojogi5186in our
@@kristojogi5186the one we currently live in. At least where gravel is concerned.
Its really really shaping up to be awesome game for both modern and historic fans alike. A shame to loose the DS21, my favorite boat.
I agree, looking forward to this. I do like more arcade style so will be putting it on the 'arcade' style settings, but still this sounds great, hope they do a good job with it.
Tbh rally is the most slept on motorsport. I dont get why tho cuz it used to be so big in the 80s and 90s heck even in early 2000s. Hope they bring a good game for others to appreciate the sport 🙏
Beautifully narrated. Thank you.
I am as well. Wasn't really into WRC titles in Milestone/Kylotonn era, but decided to give WRC Generations a chance when it was on sale and had quite a decent fun with it. Dirt Rally 2.0 is amazing imho and what I have seen in materials that EA has released this WRC title might be the best rally game ever. That is why I did what I don't usually do and have pre-ordered the game on steam, with 10% off for owning a Dirt Rally 2.0 as a nice gesture.
In WRC Generations locations never felt really like the real deal, especially Rally Croatia since I know the roads considering I am from Croatia. So seeing EA/Codemasters putting effort in to recreate real life locations is something that really hypes me on.
I'm kinda hyped for this too despite my best efforts. I can only drive in VR tho (that's how my rig is configured) so I'm going to spend the time while I wait for that implementation and sort out a Shifter & Handbrake for the rig.
You absolutely hit the nail on the head right in your intro: "[Dirt Rally 1 and 2.0 are] a fantastic love letter to rally", and it's a sentiment that I really hope has carried forward into the new game. Physics 'realism' completely aside, DR2.0 captured the *feel* of rallying (lack of stages aside), of belting through hostile environments against the clock, of recognising when to push and when to conserve the car. It had a really interesting car list, giving respect to some of the smaller, more amateur and historical rally cars out there.
And just looking at the car list, WRC seems to be following suit - that passion and interest seems to be showing through. I mean put it this way: I highly doubt that a suited EA executive would've been pushing for a *Vauxhall Nova privateer rally car.* Some massive nerd wanted that in the game for whatever bizarre reason, and they pushed for it and were given the resources to get it in the game. I just love that idea.
Great video, also included some info that I wasn't privvy to up until now - the Central European rally sounds really interesting as well!
Looking forward to seeing what the build a car mode is like, and glad they will include vr at some stage, hopefully it runs like the dirt rally games and not like f1
The season change for each Stages is absolut Amazing! I dreamed about this for years !!!
You completely echo my feelings too. I allow myself 1 new game a year and I was gonna pick the new Forza Motorsport but when I saw what WRC had to offer and the lower launch price I was sold
Haha exactly my case. 😅
Unless you're on xbox there's no way forza will replace ams2/AC. Let's face it, AC is like 10 bucks and offers infinite content
@@hansolo631Forza and ac/ams2 are different games. Ac/ams2 are sims with dead online and Forza is simcade with a lot of online players.
I agree with you on the stages driven by pace notes. Now when it comes to realism nowdays they run same stage usually two times. Drivers have also said that today they drive a lot from memory and it is a memory game also if you wanna be fast. So on that sense, in career mode, i would love to see stages for a certain rally to be droven two times (the stages are chosen from a bigger pool of stages). So the stage pool can be big but in this one occasion stages would be example: 1,3 ,4, 6 each driven two times. Next season same rally could have different stages as it is in real life. There are new stages but also classic ones.
Just my two cents
Thanks brother. I'm hyped, already preordered. I'd be happy if the whole game was on the level of a DR2.0 DLC, but it looks like it'll have some good improvements so I'm pumped.
I spent many hours on DIRT Rally 2.0 and enjoyed it, like you said can get a bit repetitive after a while thou. Myself I am a big FWD fan, so to have more F2 cars and S1600 is great, I finally have a Vauxhall Astra in a game!!
Well done, mate. Good video.
Just make sure you double check the information about the EA Sports WRC because there are just a couple of mistakes in there.
Other than that it's good.
Glad to hear you are looking forward to it.
What were the mistakes?
@@GPLaps
1. The game will have 78 cars in total (not including the fictional body shells for "Builder Mode")
2. The stages from the 5 additional locations will be stages that were used during a WRC event in the past. It'll be Norway, Spain, Indonesia, New Zealand and Corsica. New Zealand is not yet 100% confirmed but I know it'll be there.
3. The over 600km of roads will all be unique kilometres.
4. Several locations will have one very very long stage that is 30+km in length.
5. You'll be able to run all locations except for the ones with snow in four season. Not sure if Kenya will be snow in winter or if it becomes extreme wet (monsoon type of conditions). That's something we need to wait for.
6. Wasn't clear in your explanation but dynamic weather will be a feature as well. Start in dry conditions but finish in a downpour or start at dusk and finish in complete darkness.
I do release videos with all the information about the game each time big news elements go public for it, in case you are interested.
Ooooh just wanted to add some extra clarity on the Toyota situation as it's quite important. I know the vast majority is complaining about Codies not putting any classic Toyotas in their games such as the Celica or Corolla. However, that's not necessarily Codies fault. Toyota is very difficult to negotiate with when it comes to licensing their cars. They demand the cars to be represented in a certain way which would appear somewhat unreasonable. That's why so few games have officially licensed Toyotas. Codies could possibly license a handfull other cars and have more freedom with it instead of going for one single Toyota.
Then there's the relationship between Toyota and Codies which went badly sideways over a decade ago for some reason. There's not much information released as to the reason why but it had to do with licensing terms not being followed or something way back then.
That's why there's pretty much no chance of having Toyotas in a Codies game apart from the ones that fall under the offcial WRC license (i.e. Toyota Yaris Rally1).
@@SimsRacingDesign So - I was at Codemasters from 1998 to 2014 and while i probably shouldn't post the precise reason, you're in the right ballpark for what I was told. It's interesting as this is the first time I've seen anyone outside codies mention a breakdown as it sort of went un-noticed for ages, with toyota going into the "no licenses for anyone!" phase not long afterwards.
@@richtysoe6393 Nice to talk to a former employee. Didn't expect that. Haha
Yeah, people who have been around for a while in the Codies DiRT Rally/EA Sports WRC community, know that something went seriously sideways (pun intended) over a decade ago but we don't know what it is exactly except for it have to do with Codies breaching the licensing agreement they had with Toyota.
IT REMAINDS ME THE GLORIOUS WRC GAME FROM SONY AND THE EVOLUTION STUDIOS TEAM . it was MAGIC. AND THIS ONE WILL BE...................STUNNING. THANK YOU EA AND CODEMASTERS PRO TEAM.
thank you for comment
I'm excited. Living in Maine I feel like every road that a tourist doesn't know is a rally stage. We have a lot of land and do what we want on them. If your ever in my area let's do a collab. Professional chef that loves sim racing. Rally especially.
Thanks for telling us this! i never thought the same devs as dirt rally are on the new WRC IP. i just assumed it was going to be the same.
Once the game comes out, how about doing a Career Mode Walkthrough by you in your channel? It could be really fun. So if you can do it, do it. Thanks! P.D: how about naming your team with the name Vectordrome Racing and your driver with the name Jimmy Miller (USA nationality)? Vectordrome Racing is the name of a team from Race Driver: Grid and Jimmy Miller is the name of one of it´s drivers. Also, do it with no ABS, TCS, Manual Transmission, manual clutch stars, full damage and hardest AI difficulty. Thanks!
video summarized my view perfectly.. new video coming out tomorrow so hopefully some more detail, in the meantime, catch you all on the RBR leaderboards
@GPLaps, hey buddy, is your wheel shaft warped / wobbling? Just noticed it at 06:07 and, incidentally, I have myself this week noticed my CSL DD is slightly bent. Still trying to figure out whether this is unfortunately normal or if I should RMA the wheel base to Fanatec.
No, its straight. the wheel isnt perfectly round (which is normal)
People excited for a game with the badge EA on it: _they never learn_
ikr
My hope is that this game will have the physics of DR2.0, with the new cars and tracks that comes from the licensed WRC-content, and that there's a way to adjust FOV in all camera views, I would like to increase it to get a better sense of speed.
Soon as you said sunbeam I'm buying it, Old school excites me the most, Kool vid mate 👍💯
Codemasters were way ahead of their time when they did Toca Touring Cars. I had a steering wheel. I completed it and it was just staggering. Later Gran Turismo came in but Colin McRae's (rip) Dirt Rally was absolutely astounding for its time. I loved it but it needed more content for rallying as you say. I'm really waiting for this as finally it's something which seems really complete.
I hope they go wild on the build a car mode.
Looks like they'll be implementing VR post launch with an update sometime after release....which makes more sense than before release I suppose. I'll take it.
The darkness! DR2 is so dark, full beam everywhere...
Altough i will definitely play it as i've played all WRCs and Codies games before, i don't fotget that Dirt 2 was made by Codemaster for the love or rally, WRC 2023 is made by EA for a contract with WRC. Still have hope it'll be an improvement over KT racing's last WRCs
exactly.
I'll say I'm cautiously optimistic. Not enough to preorder until I see some actual reviews and especially the controller support, but it looks like a great title so far. more excited for it than forza motorsport, oddly.. i am especially excited to see that it would have a regularity rally mode in the steam listing.
So far So good. I'm just a bit disappointed that there is no VR at launch but at least it's coming. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's deep dive on game modes
I just wish that in 2023 we could get real stages. Mobil 1 did it in 1999.
I like DR and DR2 but I think WRC had better physics and tire management. Everything else in DR is better, though, and I'll definitely play this.
What a game M1RC was.
@@LuminalSpoon I wish some dedicated group of modders would take the stages from that game and bring them up to modern standards (preferably for RBR). I know it would be a ton of work, but my god it would be worth it.
my dream is to be able to re create the 2002 season with all the cars ... but i doubt thats happening
I’m really excited as well…high hopes!
i dont think you can change the snow rallies to summer but you can change summer rallies to winter hopefully that means finland in snow japan in winter might be cool if its icey and snowy roads,
The other 5 locations are apparently:
Scandia (Norway or Sweden?)
Iberia (Spain, but not the same stage as in DR2.0)
Mediterraneo (Tour de Corse!)
Pacifico (Indonesia)
and Oceania (NZ or Aus)
Also, the time of year thing won’t be open to the two permanent snow events (Rally Sweden and Rally Scandia) as modelling the environments with and without the snowbanks will likely be a bit of a stretch at this time.
I’m looking forward to the S1600s, S2000s and the extra F2 Kit Cars. Chile and Corsica (if it does turn out to be Corsica) are probably my two most anticipated locations. But I’m also looking forward to seeing what they’ve changed, if anything, of the locations already in the DR games - Monte, Spain, Greece, Finland, NZ/Aus.
From the most recent video from EA we can already see that the Col de Turini will be used as it more recently is in WRC, going right then right again instead of right then left at the top of the col. Also from the map of the Spain stage I’m pretty sure that’s a new stage this time around.
Wow surprising they wont have the UK anywhere!
@@GPLaps my biased opinion as a Brit is there should be something in the UK too, but with it not being in the WRC I guess it’s hard to justify. My only hope is that ERC content comes in to the game soon and Rali Ceredigion becomes part of the ERC next year 😉
Bit weird Italy isn't in the game or on the list no SanRemo rally?
A good UK stage would be the M25 Southbound on a Monday morning. Super dangerous and difficult. Nice.
Turns out my parents, despite zero interest in rally have owned a veritable plethora of classic rally cars over the years. Hillman Avenger, Metro, Sierra, 90's Escort.
2:50 damn, look at that detailed road surface, and all that dust. none of the ea sports wrc videos showed any of that.
Apparently there is an optional 'hardcore' damage model in WRC and the behavior on tarmac is better. We'll see.
That - and if they run a server that does online in the way that the RBR Rallysimfans does then I can die a happy man. I just love the unforgiving online stages that you get with RBR, but incredibly it's only ever been made available by a fan community.
Best Sim content on You Tube, please keep up your informed and entertaining videos. BTW the Talbot Sunbeam was a real beast. Also its pronounced TalBOT not Talbow..😊
oops, thought itd be french 😜
Hillman Avenger is in game as it's the first rally car Colin McRae drove
I'm hyped too because i love DR2.0 still playing it almost every week... I think this new game might be a banger the car list it's great, they added a lot of cars i wanted so badly in DR2.0!
But *two really important cars are missing:* Toyota Corolla WRC and Celica GT Four.
edit: considering all the big improvements and the potential of this game it might be the only game that i will buy on day1 for the 1st time in 15 years.
My biggest problem with Dirt was, that you were not able to customize the pacenotes. This is why I prefer RBR . Some notes were completely wrong. The career was also faulty. After a certain progression threshold you couldn't keep up with the AI anymore, because they set unrealistic times.
Id love pace note customization as well, seems far fetched but maybe if enough of us ask for it theyll work it into a future title
This video makes me play Dirt 2 again :)
Curious if its VR mode will be as unplayably blurry as F1 2023 is? Is it the same engine?
if it is then we are stuck with dr2.0, which is still a great game. but we will never get another decent wrc game. ea may be being fair on this first release, but sooner or later they will behave like ea again. future releases will be a nightmare. ea wouldnt have bought codemasters if they didnt want to suck them and their customers dry.
I can’t wait for this
I'm not sure what you mean by "most locations in DR2.0 are 15km of roads." Argentina is 15km, sure. but all 12 of the others are 20-30km.
The longest stage in Dirt Rally 2 is 16km
If EA WRC has the physics of Dirt Rally 2.0 but with better tarmac handling then they've smashed it. I could wish list regional rally DLC but if the UK stages are in I'm happy.
Just to make everybody aware, currently on Steam it's listed as "WRC Standard Edition". This suggests upcoming DLC and/or the driving equivalent of "Battle Passes". It is EA after all.
Which is why I'm sad that in excited. I didn't care but slowly growing more excited. But if it isn't this year, it could be like f1 comes in hot, and next year, it's going to have Battle Pass and wrc home living, etc. Crap. I have faith that this one will be good. But its future will be bleak. But I won't be shocked if it comes out and it blows. Lol
EA, EA never changes
wait, so having standard/deluxe editions is only an EA thing? ok then. and they've confirmed there are no microtransactions btw.
@@iansteelmatheson So, why can't I pre-order the deluxe edition then?
What wheel setup do you have and how much did it cost (only the wheel and pedals)?
I have a Fanatec CSL 8nm with classic steering rim and the Heusinkveld Sprint pedals
More i see of this game, more i am hyped! Hope this will be good.
Kinda surprised no RGT category. Porsche 911 RGT plus the new 911 Dakar, could have used the Lambo Huracan Sterrato too. Abarth 124 Spyder
Never get hyped for an EA game...
Yep, I feel like with any new motorsport title they all have one big glaring issue than keeps me from getting excited. at least RBR will always be free to play.
@@JaredPaul01what would be that issue you would say
I'm definitely gonna be biased here, having marshalled rally there and all that jazz but I also miss it from Dirt 2 (not Rally but the now decade old game). Morocco! Granted, stages in Dirt 2 were a bit bland and really look watered down with graphics we have nowadays. But there's a number of rallies, especially classic ones, which run in the Atlas mountains, especially in that Essaouira-Marrakesh-Rabat triangle, perhaps extending to Ouarzazate again like in Dirt 2 and the Rif mountains near Tangier, although the latter is more popular with Rally Raids.
Yup. I was sold on an updated handling engine the same as Dirt Rally 2
I think the people nervous about the involvement of EA are perfectly sensible. As wiser man than I once said of them, they are a "black hearted villain of gaming".
Didn’t even know this was coming…and it supports VR. Def need to upgrade to the Q3 now
Just a heads up, it won't be supporting vr at launch so gives you some more time to save for that Q3
I’d personally just like to see real skins on the older cars or at least for there to be the ability for modders to do their thing in this area. There’s something about a real skin that elevates the experience from driving a generic ford focus WRC car to driving COLINS Martini liveried WRC car.
I heard there will be some kind of painting in game. Hopefully theyre easy to share
Have they said anything about Rallycross being included?
You captured my thought process entirely. I’m cautiously hyped - my main concerns are how the VR implementation will come about, and when it’ll arrive.
hopefully they add more rallies over time i would like to see Great Britain and a irish rally and maybe australia
The only car that's missing for me is the mk1 Escort
I personally would love to see the stage generator from Dirt 4 again (however with more track parts please). It was kinda fun to create a whole real rally in that game
I really wish for hot seat option in the championship mode at least. I have no idea why it's not in Dirt games or any other rally game in the last 15 years or so. I remember how much we loved it in the excellent WRC series for PS2 or even the famous Rally Championship 2000. It should be so simple to implement.
Really hoping that comes in the new one too, or the custom championship mode from DR2 atleast!
I'm reammy excited too
I want to put the Stratos shell..on the mini !
Como fanatico de la saga Dirt/Colin McRae es un momento interesante. La cantidad de autos puede definir una nueva linea de videojuegos de rally. Espero con ansias. Ojalá salga algun DLC de autos mas de calle como un renault 18.
Every time I look for details about wrc the info keeps changing it says late October release now early November, and for the cars it says 75 cars on release and you say it will only be 70. I can’t be the only one confused and puzzled about the details… right?
I'm excited about it too
A few things to add. The 5 bonus locations (based on a combination of rumours and screengrabs from official sources) are likely Spain, Corsica (France), New Zealand (small chance it's Australia), Indonesia, and Norway. That's two tarmac (Spain and Corsica), two dirt (New Zealand and Indonesia) and one snow (Norway), Though I'm unsure how seasons will effect the snow rallies other than Monte Carlo, which is technically not a snow rally but a tarmac rally.
Game will have dynamic weather and progressive surface degradation. Progressive surface degradation was in 2.0, but it wasn't completely granular. In WRC, if you go second, there will be 1 car's worth of degradation on the course. If you go 9th, there will be 8. Etc. Weather can possibly change mid-stage.
On the topic of damage, when talking about hardcore damage (which will be present) in WRC, the devs said it will have both mechanical and structural damage "within the specifications that the manufacturers gave us". Reading between the lines, I think that means that hardcore damage will be as realistic as the manufacturers were willing to allow in their licensing deals. Honestly, I get it from the perspective of the manufacturers. Hardcore rally fans will understand how even a slight impact can end a rally, but to the casual or new fan, it could have a severely negative impact on brand image. And if I'm being even more honest, Dirt Rally 2.0 in the modes that allow hardcore damage to be turned on is probably about exactly right for my skill level.
It's been confirmed that the few actual snow rallies will only be winter rallies, since the big snow banks are stage geometry. Monte Carlo will have all seasons
the brand damage thing is bs. nobody is that low iq. if you crash a car at high speeds off a cliff and into a tree, it will be totalled, doesnt matter what manufacture it is.
It's a real bummer that there's no psvr2 support planned for it though.
The psvr2 desperately need a serious Rally game. Last one was dirt rally, and that was absolutely amazing in vr, even on the old psvr.
i agree, its a really odd choice, and quite worrying. if they dont think a ps5 and psvr2 with eye tracked/ dynamic foveated rendering to optimize performance is able to run it, then i dont expect it to run well or look good on pc either. especially after their last game (f1) has such bad vr.
@@socks2441
I agree.
Most likely it's a decision by codemasters to deliver the bare minimum at the price that profit the most.
PlayStation would probably have to pay them for psvr2 support.
And with console players totally silent, playstation don't even know that psvr2 players want a new rally game.
In their latest video, I noticed the omission of Weekly and Monthly Challenges. This is a great shame, as two hours of rallying without restarts against hundreds of other players was the greatest challenge I found in simracing, and it gave playing DR2.0, as opposed to other rally games, a real purpose.
A challenge with a lot of "cheaters", no thanks. At least for the last year.
Hold up create a car!?! I'm so happy I always drive in car camera and sometimes won't drive a car cause I hate the gauge layout or it's left hand drive. That's insane
9:22 and that is exactly my problem. we did have 2 (or three with rbr) rally games. but then codemasters bought the wrc licence, kylotin stopped making rally games and ea bought codemasters. now we only have one rally game (2 with rbr). so ea has the monopoly on all future rally games. and monopolies are never a good thing.
I think there will be lots of lootboxes and some great season pass stuff all over the place cause it's an EA thing :D :D
Folks are pessimistic because of what EA did to other games like Project Cars for example.
But hopefully this will be a great game, looking forward to watch your videos about it 🙂 Can imagine you replicating some historical Rally's 👍🏻
ea wasnt project cars, that was slightly mad studios, which are now absorbed by codemasters/ ea. BUT project cars 3 came out before this happened.
so as much as i agree one thousand percent on ea, project cars 3 wasnt one of their mistakes.
I'm sad that we couldn't drive Citroen DS and Mitsubishi Spacestar but otherwise im pretty hyped
I'm not as optimistic as you, or as pessimistic as Doug.
I'm in wait and see mode, with a huge dose of Electronic Arts skepticism.
Agreed!
idk if anyone could be as pessimistic as SleepyPants. He's got rightful criticism, but wrapped in such a negative point of view.

You can build a game so good but there's always some little detail that the game does'nt have that reality has its just to much work deal with...man you know what is putting in every single detail that reality has in a game, bruv in my opinion that is a very headache thing to do.
Yeah, I personally love RBR, but id call myself a codies fanboy, aware of my bias.
The reality is that the two games are just soo incomparable. RBR modded over decades with no deadline, vs a AAA game that needs to cater to everyone. You have to go in with a realistic perspective@@jacbelgrave6163
I'm very much looking forward to it, I've loved DR1 and DR2.0 for years, and I just didn't find KT's WRC entries or modded RBR to be anywhere near as enjoyable. Codies games strike the right balance for me of fun but challenging driving with immersive visuals and sound. I think you're right to be 'hype adverse', though. It's better to have a neutral outlook and then be pleasantly surprised than be hyped and be disappointed.
Speaking of RBR, I really, really tried to get into it back in the NGP4 days, but I felt that it was excessively slippery, so I stopped playing it. When I found out that they made NGP5 grippier, I felt not only very vindicated in my opinion of 4, but also quite disillusioned from all the hype about how realistic modded RBR was supposed to be. I also think that while there is some quite good modded content for it, there's also a lot of crap that looks absolutely hideous and is far below the quality of the vanilla game's content. I understand the appeal of RBR but it just isn't for me.
I am so happy Kylotonn lost the license that I almost don't even mind it went to EA :D
I own Dirt Rally 2.0. It's practically unplayable in VR (at least with my mid-tier VR setup), so I've barely played it. What I want from WRC is for it to be playable in VR without having to dial down all graphics settings.
Hopefully they figure it out because track records/history shows us that vr+unreal = disaster. That's one of the contributing factors as to why kunos abandoned the engine for their next title, assetto corsa 2
I really love Rally. I have every version of Dirt and WRC 8, 9, 10 & Generations. Not a huge fan of EA, so I'm interested to see if they can pull it off. Hopefully they won't use us a beta testers.
So is this already footage of the new game or what?
Sooooooo psyched.
I am an easy man. I see Delta S4, I click like.
😏
I first got into sim racing a little over 2 yrs ago. Rally was my main discipline. I put close to 200 hrs into dr2 before trying other rallies.
Once i touch WRC series and theb RBR, i couldnt go back to dr2. Everything about it feels off and the stages just became so boring that i had bo interest in pkaying anymore.
I think dr2 is a great game but an average sim. I really just hope that the physics/handling & FFB are on par woth rbr and the stages are on par with KT's WRC games. Everything else can be dirt.
My biggest focus is on MP and without a doubt DR2 did that best.
I pretty much 2nd that bro. Dirt rally feels too easy when you go back to it. My go too are rbr rsf edition and wrc generations
The snow rallies can only be run in winter, every other location can be any season
being Sweden and Norway. Monte is all seasons.
bummer!
I am optimistic but really hope the switch to Unreal engine wont make this feel completely different to DR2.0.
Toyota pack please, I personally own an E11 Corolla and a T18 Celica. I would love to drive them in a Codemasters game.
Talbots of the late 70s/80s were Chrysler. Iirc.
