Yeah, but Marcy's attitude can be abandoned at the first settlement. Marcy can be abrasive, but never propped herself up as a genocidal, post-apocalyptic prophet.
In fairness to Barstow, there's still a glimmer of hope for her as a human being. The fact that she can recognize that positive emotion (even if only her own) can influence important decisions regardless of what the cold logistics of the situation add up to, at least means that there's a slight hope that she can, with time, connect to and reclaim her better human nature. Maxson, on the other hand, seems incapable of questioning the system he lives by to even that tiny extent. So I'd say I, for one, like Barstow better, because of the 2 conscience-lacking self-important monsters out to improve humanity by utterly destroying its soul, at least she has the tiniest spark of hope for improvement.
TheRPGenius Maxson has proven that he's willing to forgo his code once in awhile, namely when you convince him to spare Danse.
TheRPGenius I suppose I just expect more out of someone hovering around age 250 than someone given total power at age 20.
For those progressing in the DLC, I discovered by accident while you explore the vault, if you can build and scrap items in the area, you dont even HAVE to exit the building menu to fight the ennemies you can encounter, I just used *SCRAP* on live radscorpions.. litteraly charging at me and BAM! Deconstructed into construction parts. now THATS some deadly application of vault technology!

I found Clem dead after the DLC ended. He was assigned to a Power Cycle and I went out to send people to the vault and when I came back he was dead next to the Power Cycle. Anyone else had this?
Yep but with a other settler. He just died when i assigned him to this damn death machine. Just use them for decoration XD

If you get that ending, it means you did the "good" experiments. Meaning the only thing in the soda was caffeine.

I explored the whole vault, scrapped whatever I could find, did the experiments, took everything in the workshops, closed the vault door, and left everyone inside, including the overseer.
That feeling when you accidentally get the worst ending, and your vault looks like a piece of shit to :'(

There is multiple tutorials on making the vault look good. It takes time, but they look like an actual vault in the end. Just wish there was a mod that made it automatically lol.

Individual vaults are exceptions but 90% of vaults failed. That is enough to say "yeah every vault"

You can be evil in base game obviously. You just can't try and be evil and still try and reap the rewards of quests only good people would do.

Nope; did just the same on my first playthrough of this DLC right now. She's lucky to walk away ín one piece after she straight out said she wants the experiments to continue.
X6-88 dislikes if you insist that a good Overseer should do no harm. I wonder what influence will the Institute make to my charachter after a couple of years - will he become a good Director or the true father of the Father, with all these stupid decisions like FEV research?

Funny thing is it would be entirely possible for the Lone Wanderer, Courier, and Lone Survivor to be together seeing as their games only take place a few years apart in world. The other 2. Well as the Storyteller used. Clones is the answer.
what about the ending where some supermutants come in on the first mission and kill clem and the overseer?
That happened to me right after I finished the DLC, if you close the vault doors it doesn't happen.

I was really hoping that there would be some experiments with FEV in this dlc... But once again, Bethesda dissapoints.
That wouldn't make much sense because your creations will either kill you on sight or turn you into a mutant which also has a chance to kill you

Yeah but dude, it's not because he wanted it. A lot of people did. This DLC was pretty empty. And FEV experiments would have made it great. Also, Vault-Tec is very known for FEV testing, so it was only fitting and adequate if not necessary.

love that dlc; great source for vault suits. before they allowed mods (ps4), I was using it to outfit all the commonwealth settlers with 'em. there's a mod where you can make them at the chemistry station now.
Each item gives you a perminant boost in a varoius stat. I wonder if they change if you do different tests or get better/worse results

I had her stay as overseer and then she randomly died a few days later out of nowhere.
Here are my test parameters
Power-Cycle: 2X Power: Success
Drink Machine: Hunger Suppresent: Success
Phorophopter: Subliminal Messaging: Success
And, yes I got the good ending

So I couldn't find the overseer desk(I now know it's in special options) so I just killed her, looted her, and dragged her corpse away, so I never did get Clem

In this DLC I fast travelled back to vault 88 and found one of my guards dead while sitting at the guard desk thingy
I heard you can raise your followers rating with you if you choose the aggressive option
I killed her after she shocked Clem. Then all three settlers attacked me and I had to kill them :/ I then cleared the vault and got access to the other workbenches

So what happens if at the very beginning you tell her you won't help her at all with experiments. Do you still get all the items to make and suit?
Nope, if you choose the option "Leave or die" at the start a window will pop up asking you if you're sure and, if you confirm, the whole DLC quest line will fail
Just seems odd. Since after what the PC has been through it makes sense to tell her to just bug off. But then you loss the extra stuff you can build to make settlers happy. I hate being forced to play out of character.
Actually you can still build the non-harmful versions of all the experiment equipment. You just don't get the legendary effect vault suit from the overseer.
Barstow is a show of proof that logic by itself is flawed. Logic can only adhere to one thing. itself and numbers. if it's outside of that it will deny it's existence or see it as a hindrance and will come up with a "solution" which of course is flawed.

Im surprised people can end this quest without staying more than 30 hours seeing how the game crashes to radscorpions or seeing how you cant build a terminal because its glitched
Did all the experiment options just to see what would happen at the end of them. I found the good ending to be less satisfying of the ending. Ended up doing all the experiment properly and laughing like the evil overseer I am. Then I got rid of all of the experiments because I just wanted to make my settlers happy in the end.

I destroyed The overseer completely. My plasma rifle completely destroyed that bitch.
Why did I kill her you might ask? After dealing with Fallout 3 , Fallout new Vegas , and Fallout 4's Vaults I had enough.
The only Vaults that survived were vaults 88 and 81. I know I killed the overseer but I still took over the vault. Vault 88 survived because they gave me an overpowered gun tho their overseer got killed in a tragic land mine accident.
