  • Here is all you'll need to know about using the GPR-B1000 with this FULL tutorial which includes the navigational side
    Read the 'WUP69 Tips for more information that helps you understand this Rangeman further.
    **WUP69 Tips**
    1. Pressing button 'C' (MODE) for 2secs will always return back to home screen regardless what function you have open, even if it's in the middle of a gesture, try it as it works.
    2. I have mentioned this in the video, but many are still confused... when you need to start an open navigation (track me/NEW) always reset 'GOAL' as you may have a planned route installed, and when you start the Navigation the watch will use the planned route first... if you intend to use the planned route then don't reset 'GOAL' if you do by mistake, then you'll need to transfer the planned route again. The Rangeman can only hold one planned route at a time, this is all about the survival experience when less is more. The app can download one planned route at a time, so carry this with you just incase you need it later, and it'll work even if you have no phone connection, it just needs the Bluetooth connection.
    3. The Altimeter uses the sensor on the watch, but can also use the GPS for a more accurate measurement... I have covered this in the video, but just to refresh if you require the altimeter to read the GPS when you start an open/planned route navigation then always open the 'Altimeter' first and wait for the GPS to refresh the measurement before travelling, as it can take up to 1 minute to receive the GPS update which equals a distance travelled on your route.
    4. In WorldTime long press on button 'A' takes you to a shortcut to the cities.

    why do lots of real outdoor people mountain climbers say the watch sucks and navigatiin is way of track?

    • @WatchUP69MrRangeman
      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  Před 4 lety +80

      I know several mountain climbers, many from Switzerland and they mostly don't wear a watch, or if they do it's usually a light ProTrek... real mountain climbers don't use toys like these, these toys are for those who aren't native to reading and surveying the openness, or are less experienced.
      This is where it goes very wrong, you're trying to make something the watch isn't, thinking it's a Sat-Nav, the GPR isn't that type of watch, it's a tough watch that has tracking abilities and is able to set points for later use. Huge battery pack with a working solar charging system. It's mud resistant and resistant to shocks including temperature shocks, plus has a LOW TEMP DISPLAY, and have you seen how a regular LCD/display acts when in freezing conditions?
      Let me also mention the reliability of the GPR-B1000 Rangeman, at this moment and time Garmin for an example have been hacked, which has forced them to shutdown the app side, which means I can't at this moment plan any routes to my watch, am also experiencing GPS signals loss! While that's in a mess my Rangeman continues to track me, route me and set point memos, so if anything sucks at the moment it's not the GPR. Their's climbers and their's CLIMBERS, I think the ones you've been listening to aren't hardcore with no nonsense relying on gadgets, the big boys interest is making a challenging summit.
      You choose your tools wisely, if you choose a tool expecting more, then having a hissy fit about it proves their weakness, real climbers get on with it and always move upwards.
      Look at both sides to build the fuller picture, and those real climbers don't have time for CZcams!
      So these watches are for the lesser men if you know what I mean, we are using these as aids but sometimes you never know, so having a solid tool with some form of help can be a life saver, but it's not 100%, and getting lost is easily done regardless, as humans make mistakes that no computer can help you with.

I always wanted to buy a solar buy powered G Shock but there was never one with all the features on it that I personally would have liked to see until the rangeman gpr came out. have the Rangeman-B1000 1-BER since November 2018, was first in the Netherlands with the green version though lol😉have to honestly say navigation of the rangeman gpr has never let me down during the long forest walks with the kids.Im a noob and no mountain climbing for me😋 i was just wodering cuz of reviews.so thx again bud ! when i got the first all youre YT vids realy helped me understand the watch to the fullest for that i tyvm! @@the_outer_circle_trader1936 Cheers for your reply :) The Garmin fan boys have gone quite and the Rangeman fans still continue using their GPR's... use it to its means and it's a powerful tool... as with trees this does have an effect, personally I believe GPS watches and devices work using antennas, have been doing some research about this, as the military still stand by them. The coverage from a frequency covers a huge distance, and to think how far the MB6 antennas reach just goes to show their strength. Sometimes with an open sky in a deep valley the GPS can fail which I've lived, and this gives me more proof to my idea how they work. Also receiving frequencies doesn't use up battery that fast, look how long a battery radio can last, and that has a speaker too.
      If you're planning an Amazon adventure, then please go with a guide and in a group, at least you have food if you're not a vegetarian LML :-P

      Cheers buddy... you're not the first to say if CASIO paid me, and I also got a negative comment saying how crap the GPR-B1000 was compared to the Garmin Fenix's, and that I must be getting paid to support such crap.... well the answer is, CASIO don't, nobody pays me, this is a passion that I enjoy, and making it a job would spoil that side I'm sure. The GPR-B1000 is my favourite watch, and when my Fenix 6 Pro couldn't be used when Garmin got hacked that time last year, my trusty GPR-B1000 was ready... oddly that negative comment guy went quite when I returned to ask how his Fenix is coping with the use of Garmin's App... well he didn't reply, and that was one point I mention, that this GPR-B1000 shouldn't be compared to the Fenix, both are different, but most importantly, both can navigate you :)
      (the Rangeman navigates further)
      Enjoy it, it's a very very good G-Shock to have :)

    Thanks so much for taking the time, Sir. I just received the watch and your tutorial (particularly the "hands on" GPS functions with walking tour) is the first one that makes perfect sense to a new owner like me, and is far easier to understand than even the official full manual, which after repeated reads still didn't make all functions clear. Great job, very much appreciated all your hard work. Cheers from sunny Southern California, stay safe!

      The manual is scatty where to start, so my tutorial is basically start to finish in order... time stamps are there to use at anytime too... Thank you for your feedback, makes me happy that it’s useful... Cheers from a mix of sun, grey and snow flurries here in Buckinghamshire UK

    Best channel on CZcams. Before I bought my Rangeman i was up in arms between the G shock and Garmin! However after watching all WatchUp69 videos on the Rangeman and the tests that his been doing between both watches I found that the Rangeman was a perfect fit. Tough, thick and long lasting solar power. However I do need to say this about this channel.....
    I struggled to get my watch up and running since the day I bought it which was 6 weeks ago. Without the help of WatchUp69 and his detailed reviews i would of return the watch as a Faulty unit. WatchUp69 spent some time with me to teach me how to understand the functions of this watch and to come to realise that the watch wasn't faculty but the App needs an update(which hasn't happened yet). THANKYOU Mate!!!!!! You have a happy viewer here.
    Now this is a shout out to Casio - You need to sponsor this Channel, I called Casio to help me sort my issues and maybe assist to see if I was doing something wrong. I got no help at all! They just said return it!! This channel did the work for you, therefore I think this channel should get sponsored to promote and review other G-Shock watches. CASIO, I will buy more watches if you give him watches to review and keep. Some of the reviews are long but they are detailed. You wont miss a thing. Once again thank you for making my life easier.

      Thank you my friend for your amazing message... it was a pleasure to help and glad it wasn't anything wrong with the actual Rangeman.
      I enjoy doing this channel and most importantly helping with understanding a watch that I've had experience with, as those who sell these types of watches aren't as geek as I am, plus they've probably not lived with it enough to understand every detail.
      I like to address every possible situation with watches I review especially these hybrids, even taken them on pointless tests across Europe just to see how the GPS functions, but if anything it just shows how incredible this Rangeman is.
      Anyway, thanks again for the message has made some big smiles my end of the world.

      The videos don't lie, so what you see is what you get and it's true, the battery is a monster!
      Remember when it's on 2 cells on the battery, that's like a regular solar G-Shock, so if you want a few days of GPS then use the charger and don't rely upon the solar side, as the battery to reach full charge (4 cells) is massive, and it would take weeks to get it up to full... the solar does keep the watch performing, and does top up the battery to 3 cells, but wanted to mention this now that 4 cells is faster with the wireless charger.
      Looking forward to your feedback once it lands... just find a nice quite spot when you open it, and enjoy the experience... think the size will get you first :))

      Hey buddy
      What a great comment with some interesting information too.
      Now I’ve been doing some research especially with regards to the GPS, and when I mention to those who are having issues with getting GPS signals, is because I believe that the GPS is working using antennas like how the military use. Now I’ve experienced that in areas that are isolated, near military zones or some airports, that the GPS isn’t available. When I was in the mountains in Switzerland travelling in a deep valley, I lost the GPS signal, even with a lovely blue sky above my head. But as soon as I climb nearer to the road, the GPS signal returned. Some think I’m wrong and it does use satellites, but I’ve yet to try it in the middle of absolutely nowhere to see if I’m able to get a signal, and for those in Qatar unable to use their GPR’s proves it’s antenna based in my view. The frequency range is pretty wide form antennas, but fall too far below, or travel too high with many mountain peeks, you’ll be out of range, and if it was satellite, then you shouldn’t have issues surly???.... it’ll be interesting to know how you get on sharing your experience along the way. Please let us know... cheers buddy and thanks again ;)

I about four at one time and loved them... and theirs me banging on how you don't need your phone and how convenient the watch is to read your messages... but when that silly iWatch came out, Pebble cut many of the features it was offering, and of course Apple wanted their customers buying their watches, so Pebble became literally a Pebble, so was made to return to looking at my phone at the messages... but over a period of two weeks I realised I was using the Pebble making it fit in my life, and living without it wasn't the end of the world, and ever since I don't have interest. Sometimes best to keep it mineral and let the phone do what it does, and a camera do what that does, as it's less fuss especially trying to get that connection between watch and phone on smart watches :-P
      The GPR-B1000 will outlive any smart watch of today and phone and cars and people... it's a hybrid, but also stands alone ready and waiting for you, and most importantly , it'll be reliable and not have a mental breakdown because it can't upload the latest software... the GPR-B1000 is my ultimate and favourite watch, next to my new GG-B100 Mudmaster :))
      Cheers and you did a good choice :)

      The Rangeman has become a popular G-Shock... it's not for everyone as a few think it's the same as a Garmin, so get a little hissy because it's on the same price level... just remember that G-Shocks do stick around for a long long time and the Rangeman isn't subject to becoming outdated in the next few years. *Its quite obvious this watch was intended to hunt the undead:
    Autolight is disabled in order to avoid being spotted. Daylight remaining and distance from safe location are measured to ensure you get home before the light dies and the vampires come out. A moon graph to indicate when werewolves are at full strength and to show how much ambient light is available for night hunts. Temperature readings to detect sudden suspicious drops in temperature indicating the approach of a ghost or eldritch abomination. Pressure readings with warnings about sudden changes -clearly to indicate a vampire in mist form or a vapourous spectre entering your location. Altitude to indicate how deep you are in a dungeon. Tide graphs to show when its safe to enter and clear out coastal caves. Heck it even creates a location reading so that you can call in fellow hunters using their own rangemans via the radio. All they need to do is dial in your longitude and latitude and they have a drop zone. On top of that its nearly indestructible. This watch is the greatest!*

      @@WatchUP69MrRangeman Sure go ahead my friend :) I was thinking it was a bit too puerile to post, but I hoped it might raise a laugh. Only that I've been re reading Dracula by Bram Stoker. With all of the watch sensors showing temperature drops, moon phases, the time daylight ends and its helping us stop being lost in the woods it had me thinking that good old Jonathan Harker -Draculas arch nemesis (alongside Dr Van Helsing) could have done with a Rangeman. Its definitely a watch for a crisis!

      @@anthonymares5079 Let me try and help... connect the GPR to the app... select the settings icon at the top right corner, and scroll down to select tide location and open.
      For an example, I’m in Switzerland at the moment, and the map isn’t showing any port locations, well that’s obvious, as Switzerland doesn’t have tides, so really having tide information is pointless, unless you need to know from another country, so from the map, scrolling around with pinch to zoom in or out will show all the ports with red dots. From there you’ll follow what is needed.
      You may find that you won’t see these port location red dots, that’s because you either need to pinch to zoom out, or you’re in a land like Switzerland, that has no sea ports.

      I want to have the tide/moon shown in Home Time... Casio sometimes miss great opportunities to really quench our needs... I have no idea who makes the final decisions with G-Shocks, and between myself and my viewers we are always suggesting good tips... CASIO does watch my channel... but for them to acknowledge if it was your idea remains hidden... I would love to see a G-Shock super fan have a watch made to their wishes, as for me, don't make it too complex and ruin the genius behind simplicity :)

    Hi, this is a great tutorial. My Bluetooth sync somehow managed to ruin the sunrise/sunset times when I sync auto and also manually. I’ve seen the location coordinates are now missing (they worked fine before). Only when using time and position with GPS it corrects itself, until the next auto sync is made with the app. My home city (Santiago, Chile) is not listed as yours in the default ones but it does recognize it automatically. Time, moon, everything else is ok. Just this kind of bug. Have you ever heard something like this ?

    Thanks for this tutorial. It is really great. I have this watch actually. Do you know if there is way to navigate through already recorded activity on the watch? I mean using “activity” as a “route” directly on the watch itself?

      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  Před 3 lety +1

      Cheers for the feedback... I did cover more in another GPR-B1000 video, so have a look in my playlist :)
      But once your activities have been saved to your device via G-Shock Connected... just open 'Route Setting' then hit the '+' icon at the bottom.... then tap on 'Activity' and there you'll see you saved activities that have be overlaid on your new route... you can also add your Point Memos as a START or GOAL when you select 'NEW' from the list at the beginning.
      Think of it like a clever compass, remembering 60 point memos is plenty in my opinion... you can cover a huge distance and time with it... it's this side that destroys my Fenix 6 Pro.
      My SOTC video I posted just before Christmas sums it all up to my thoughts on my GPR-B1000 :))

    I own few g-shock and pathfinder watches and this Rangeman as well.
    I've notice on auto light is enabled this Rangeman it turns on when you angle the watch towards your face even it is in full light. The other models will be illuminated only in the dark when auto light is enabled.
    Is a malfunction or is suppose to be like that?

      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  Před 4 lety

      So on the GPR-B100 when you have 'LT' on the backlight comes on when in full lighting whether inside or outside? The solar panel detects automatically if there's enough light to emit the auto backlight, so if this comes on in good lighting then something is wrong for sure!

    Thank you for your best tutorial!!! Just a question: how can we set latitude/longitude for a more accurate sunrise and sunset time?? Please could you help me? Thank you!!! (For example the 9400 has this function)

    • @WatchUP69MrRangeman
      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey buddy, cheers for your feedback :))
      So as long as your GPR-B1000 has been setup with your device and that you've allowed the app to use your location, then try this...
      In Home Time press for a few seconds button 'D' (Receiving) and release on the second beep... now the watch will connect with your device to sync... once successful, the display on the watch will show your coordinates, you can check this on Google Maps to see how accurate it is, but this should pin point your location giving you the perfect Sunrise and Sunset. As long as you have the bluetooth on your device and that the watch is within reach of your device it'll try a sync four time in 24hrs, which will also give give the watch your location at the time to match Sunrise and Sunset... so when you say travel the time line across a country, you can either adjust manually like I said at the beginning or just allow the device and watch do it automatically, which is every 6hrs in 24hrs.
      The GW-9400 has the LAT and LONG setting, but it's not pin point accurate compared to the GPR-B1000, this is using either your device location or you can use the GPS + Position option in the watch if you don't have your device near.
      Hope that helps you :)

      There isn't an option with regards to manually setting the Power Save mode, it's done automatically when stored in the dark between the hours of 9am till the morning hours, and the display with go into sleep, which will be completely blank... pressing any button or exposing the watch to light will wake the beast wake up... Between the recommended dark hours it will sleep if left untouched in the dark every hour, unless you have a function running. It's just the screen that sleeps. If left in the dark for a week, it will go into another Power Save mode turning off the Bluetooth and other functions to really preserve battery.

      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  Před 4 lety +1

      You can calibrate the Barometer to your area and this really needs only doing the once. Find the Barometer pressure reading online and adjust... don't use the data for the next day, has to be then and now. The Altimeter uses the Barometer sensor, but is only really good when the weather is settled to have a good reading, but as soon a air pressure rises or decreases then you'll have a sudden difference in altitude... so I always use the GPS to keep the Altimeter more accurate, and this is using your GEO location.
