    The new normal
    Stadium build: $3 billion
    Stadium life: 20 years
    Who pays for it: taxpayers
Net worth of the team playing there: $1.5 billion or greater.
If the owners want a new stadium, they should pay for ALL of it, not the taxpayer.

I’m ecstatic as a jets fan on Long Island but I don’t buy it. I could be wrong but what’s the incentive for the jets to spend more when fans will show up regardless of the stadium? Second, there’s at least 10 stadiums in the area. Will the residents be fine with stadiums popping up left and right? Lastly, probably more importantly, where is this stadium going? The Citi field area already feels tight, add an MLS stadium, and an NFL one, and it just doesn’t seem possible. Again, not an expert, but that’s how it feels. Unless the jets team up with NYCFC and the MLS approves a joint stadium, which I know the MLS prefers soccer specific. Or they can sell them on making NYC the largest, premier soccer stadium for the national team as well. I’m rambling, although how unlikely, it’s good news as a jets fan. Come back home.
