EPIC 48 Hour Guide to Edinburgh Scotland (ad) 🏴

- Spend two days in Edinburgh Scotland with me! In 48 hours in Edinburgh I did a ton, including drinking at a panda-filled speakeasy behind a bookcase, browsing a beautiful secondhand bookshop, walking the Water of Leith waterway, tasting whiskey and gin at a hyper local Edinburgh distillery, and more. You'll get tons of inspo for a future Edinburgh visit, especially if you want to discover the more "local" side of the city.

About Love and London:
I'm Jess, I've lived in London for many years, and this channel is a London travel guide for anyone visiting the city that wants to experience it like you live here. Beyond talking about the usual London attractions, I show you some of the cooler things to do in London, that most travel guides don't mention. Watch my videos and you'll feel like you've got a Londoner friend telling you the best kept secrets in the city.
So glad you went to Edinburgh! One of my favorite cities in the whole world. Scotland is mystical and magical. Some of the tastiest and most imaginative food. I'm not vegetarian, so I love their beef and seafood, particularly salmon. The vegetable sides were incredible, so fresh and clean. Their single malt (scotch) whisky is my go to for that type of drink. Can't do American stuff any more! So much to see and do in this small country. The history is unbelievable.
And, you said it! The people are so interested and interesting! Kind and thoughtful.
So glad you enjoy the city as much as I do Becky!! Really appreciate you taking the time to watch and write a lovely comment ♥️
Loved this! I was married in Edinburgh in 2019, such a gorgeous, vibrant city!
Congrats ! 👏 I am jealous that I'd love love to go there !!! Lol 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Omg that sounds lovely! So glad you enjoyed, thanks so much for taking the time to watch! ♥️
Edinburgh is an amazing city! Love it with all my heart ❤️
it truly is! Thanks so much for watching ♥️
Ahhhh I'll be heading here this weekend so what a perfectly timed video! Thanks lovely lady! Edinburgh just looks sooo gorgeous! x
Oh perfect!! Have such a great time. Thanks so much for watching ♥️
Such an amazing video! If I ever visit Edinburgh, it will be so useful!
Great post, Jess! I loved my visit to Edinburgh (& Scotland) ... AND, I wish I would have had your list of places and restaurants to visit when I traveled there! Happy Holidays to you.
Aw thank you so much Julie! Glad you enjoy it there too. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment ♥️
Love it! We were in Scotland a month ago and I still can’t believe we were able to make this amazing trip!
Oh how lovely!! Thank you so much for watching Natalia ♥️
Going to visit in August, thank you for the video, love this! ❤
Ah amazing!! you're so welcome, thank you so much for watching, I appreciate it ♥️
Perfect timing. I've been saving for a trip to Scotland for years and just today decided to start the planning process for that.
Fab! You'll have a great time. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch ♥️
Great video! My sister spent a month in Edinburgh a couple years back and loved the city. And I can see why. ❤️
Oh...that's SUPER ~!!! I am jealous !! Lol.👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

I was just in Edinburgh yesterday for 3 days. Such a magical city!! ❤️ I can't wait to go back
SO magical!! Me too. Thanks so much for watching Jess! ♥️
wow i love the filming and editing of this video! Edinburgh is one of my favorite cities in the UK. its so medieval
Thank you so much, means a lot!
I think one of the secrets to visiting edinburgh is if you’re only visiting the city centre and the slight surrounding areas, is avoid uber and busses, its such a walkable city with hidden wonders that you stumble upon randomly, as a local i always thought one of the allures of the place was how close everything you want to see is, its a city made to be loved on your two legs
Agreed! But if you are going quite far and can't walk the hills Uber is super reasonable too! Thanks for watching.
Edinburgh was awesome - so glad I popped up to Scotland for a weekend last time I was in the UK. Came back with some whisky that was amazing and had some great weather then too.
Such a great city and so easy to get to from London for a couple of days. Thanks so much for watching!
Fantastic tour. Heading there July 2023
Thanks for watching Dave!
Lucky enough to be based in Rosyth near Edinburgh for 2 years when my ship was in refit there. Me and my wife loved our time up there, exploring Scotland. Happy memories. Loved the film, thank you.👍🥃
Oh very cool. Thanks so much for watching Dean, I appreciate it!
that actually isn’t calton hill, it’s still a part of arthur’s seat. calton hill would’ve been behind where you were facing at that moment. it’s an easy mistake to make that a lot of my friends who have visited have made
It’s Salisbury Crags
Hi Jess
All your vlogs are great, so informative! 😊 👍.
Thank you Steven, very kind of you to say. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch the video ♥️
Edinburgh looks lovely, would love to visit one day! And the view from the top of Jacob's Ladder looked like it was worth the hike up!
It's a great city. Thanks for watching Daniela!
Yay, amazing video from Edinburgh! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Love the video , I was there last week (29/11-02/12) for my birthday . such a beautiful place to visit., lots to do , Edinburgh castle is incredible

I loved the video. Looks really cold but the scenery is awesome 🤩
It was indeed chilly but helps that everything is so beautiful there! Thanks so much for watching.
@@burntsoup Thank you for the tip! I’m planning a trip to the UK for next year & I hope to visit Scotland as well 😃
Amazing your, this is at the top of my list to go to this year and explore

Very nicely filmed and edited video, it really made me wanna visit 🏰 the live translation feature is awesome!
Isn't it cool? I might be off to Paris next month and will definitely be needing it. Thanks so much for watching, really glad you enjoyed it!
Did an Invisible Cities tour upon your rec, and it was great! Our tour guide Angus gave us a great overview of the city.
Ah amazing!!
Would love to see you do more videos about Edinburgh! 🙂
Thanks Georgie! We've got a train comparison coming next week so keep an eye. And we will do more in Edinburgh if this video is popular so be sure to share it with friends, thank you so much!
Sigh. My favorite city in the entire world (at least the parts I’ve visited up to now). What a great video. Thank you!
Lovely. Thanks so so much for taking the time to watch ♥️
Love that city! Great vid!
Thanks Jean!! ♥️
Awesome video! I’m planning to visit this year and can’t wait to check some of these places out. Cheers from Mexico 😁
Amazing. Have a great time and thanks so much for watching
Edenburgh always looks fantastic. You did a great job showing the city. My family goes back over 1000 years in this city, yet I live in the U.S. and have never visited 'home'.
My family emigrated to the U.S. after the Civil War. Thank you again for this beautiful trip!
Thanks for watching !
This was so fun and makes me miss Edinburgh! We went for a few days as part of our trip to the UK and I can't wait to be able to come back.
Aw that sounds fun! Thanks so much for watching Brooke, glad you enjoyed it!
Once again nice upload. Really nice.
Recommend the Sheep Heid Inn in Duddingston on the other side of Arthur's Seat, a 14th Century pub with a haunted skittles Alley. Bonnie Prince Charlie, Robert Burns, Walter Scott and recently, the Queen decided to add her name to the list of famous visitors.
i USED TO GO THERE WITH MY MATES IN THE EARLY 60'S
Love the video! Thanks for the tips
Thanks for watching Andreea!
Enjoyed it ❤️
Thanks so much for watching!
I love Edinbra' and I love your video as always. Kudos.
Me too! Thanks for watching Nyonyo ♥️
I went to high school where the Water of Leith walkway starts in Balerno, a suburb of Edinburgh about 8 miles south west of the city centre. I've lived in Edinburgh my whole life and it's nice to see different spots and places i wasn't aware of and hadn't been to before.
Nice! tHanks for watching!
Such a beautiful place!! And the fairytale towns like Dean Village.
I am really happy that u chose a spectacular city for ur videos
Thanks so much for watching Jyoti, glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent!
Thanks Kathy, glad you enjoyed it, thanks so much!
I feel so much better now that I watched this video, I am coming to London next month and will stay for almost 7 weeks I am terrified by the way cuz I am doing it alone, and I was thinking about taking a few days off to go to Edinburgh and I was more terrified of doing so, but I see you went alone and it felt safe and easy, thank you so much for this, you literally helped a sister here, greeting from Costa Rica
No need to be terrified. This is a very simple country to handle especially when you watch more of my videos. You'll love it.
Superb Jess. Be cool if you can do more of this x
Thanks so much Robert, really glad you enjoyed it! If this video is popular we will for sure do more.
Edinburgh is on my list so thank you very much Jess for sharing this. Also if I may say, you look so pretty w your hair up and w your glasses on 🤗😍
Oh fab, hope you found it helpful. Thanks so much for watching Kate!
I stayed in Leith when visiting Edinburgh in 2019. However, I used the bus to get back and forth. That walk - just wow! You're good.
haha ... GO Jess!
Nice!! That's great! Thanks so much for watching Evelyn! ♥️
This video really shows off the amazing city! Hoping you do more videos like this in the future
Thanks so much! I just did one in Paris, go have a watch: czcams.com/video/yPu0c_6d2cI/video.html if these types of videos get a lot of views I can pitch more cities to our upcoming sponsors!
My husband and I honeymooned in Edinburgh! Such an amazing city and super friendly!
Awe how lovely! Such a great city. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch Sarah!
I've been to Edinburgh loads of times, but haven't delved too much into the foodie scene was nice to see. Dean Village is really nice, beside the water of Leith, just 20-30 mins walk from Stockbridge and the Botanical gardens. The hill/scarp you see (9:28) from Regent Road is Salisbury Crags with Arthur's Seat behind it (Calton hill is immediately behind where you were standing)
Yeah I've had like 100 people correct me lol. Thanks for watching Eleanor, glad you enjoyed it :)
@@loveandlondon Edinburgh has many hills, so it's easy to mistake them on your first visit. Although it is one of the smallest hills, Calton hill has great view of the old town, over to Fife and Greek inspired architecture. The restaurant on Calton Hill is another good lunch spot, at fairly affordable prices, with a grand view over the old and new towns
Water of leith is a river. Edinburgh also has a canal called The Union Canal with nice path to walk, specially in summer. The mountain you called Calton Hill is a Holyrood Park with popular Arthur`s Seat on top a little to the left. When you pointed Calton Hill with your finger the Calton Hill was right behind you and in my opinion the city looks better from smaller Calton Hill than from Arthur`s Seat, but it`s only me🙂 Nice movie!
Hi, I'll have to correct you. It’s Salisbury Crags
Great video thank you! I don’t see the link to view the train comparison though.
It's coming next week! So glad you're interested in watching :) Thank you so much for your support Wendy!
You are a really smart and confident lady. I really like your videos. Really spectacular and interesting.
I love Edinburgh ❤ I definitely highly recommend staying at the Charlotte Square Hotel. We stayed there for my birthday this year. I even got a free bottle of wine and some profeta rolls on my birthday delivered buy room service.
The best thing about the hotel, that it's pet friendly. My cat loved it and didn't want to leave. Service is brilliant there.
Love the video and the photos you have taken look amazing 👏🏼
I'm loving all of your content 👍🏽
Nice!! thank you so much for watching ♥️
Thank you for checking out my hometown. Best city in the world! :)
Thanks for watching!
ah thanks for the video, I do like Edinburgh a lot. I'm a Scot in London but haven't been back to Scotland since 2018, hopefully 2022 will see that happen. I have to say though that my heart is in deepest SW Scotland where I'm from: 200ft cliffs, lighthouses, remote deserted beaches, fishing villages, dramatic skies and Ireland in the distance.
Nice!! Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching.
"...dying..." Love it!
lolz! thanks for watching
Great video
Thanks for watching Kam!
Could not dream of a better timing, going to Edinburgh in 2 weeks!
Oh perfect! Have a great time! Thanks for watching.
Great video and those were good pics you took.
Thanks so much Juan, appreciate you taking the time to watch
So glad you enjoyed your time in the city I live in. I know I'm biased, but I think it is one of the best cities.
I love Edinburgh, very cool city. Thanks so much Steven
@@loveandlondon i loved your video. Definitely trying out the Panda place and that wee cafe
Whut!!! Me and my partner literally just got back from Edinburgh - it’s so so beautiful there 😍 They do love to put up Xmas lights this time of year too ❄️🎄Gonna make a note of the stuff you mention here for our next trip!! Love your channel ✨
Where did you stay? If you don’t mind me asking. I’m going in March and I been looking where to stay.
Amazing!! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment Niamh ♥️
@@catherine2044 No worries at all!! If I'm being honest, I wouldn't recommend the hotel we stayed at - we got it on offer and it was for good reason 😅 Didn't get much sleep!! But there's plenty of hotels to pick from :) Sorry, I know that's not very helpful!!
@@loveandlondon Awh no worries at all, I just love your videos!! 😍 Brings out the traveller in me xx
@@autism_and_niamh sorry to hear that. Thank you 😊
Fortitude is where I get off the tram/bus if I'm coming into the city, so I will give it a try. Good tip.
Nice! Thanks for watching Iain!
Great video. My girlfriend and I are looking to go September so this helped tremendously.
We're having five days so this gives us a great guideline.
Did a great job advertising that phone too ☺
Thanks so much Ayanda for such kind words!! Enjoy your trip in September :)
@@loveandlondon thank you 🙏🏽
Loved that you showed distilleries and cafes. The food out there were amazing as well, did you get to try Haggis?
Loved watching this. You were very close to where I live in leith
So glad you enjoyed it, and hey that's cool. Thanks so much for watching Craig!
Jessie please consider expanding your topics from London to other parts of the British isle. You've done tons of great work about London and now we want travel information about other British cities or countryside villages!!
So glad you've enjoyed this! I will continue to share other parts of the UK but only if people watch this video and it's successful, so please share it as much as you can if you would like to see more. Thanks for watching!
Like me, you are ambivalent and questioning about the monarchy, but something worth seeing resides on the Leith seafront at Edinburgh: the decommissioned Royal Yacht Britannia, which you can go round deck by deck. The royals wanted it scuttled (sunk) so that we can’t see it. It gives a marvellous insight into the workings of the monarchy. As a taster: the biggest department is the laundry, since life on it was so formal. Up to 12 changes of uniforms in tropical climates, with different clothes for specific times of day. I’ll never forget my family outing there.
Great video. When im in Edinburgh I love to go on the tour buses they do 48 hour tickets too. Best place to get on by Waverly Station.
In this video I tried to give some non-touristy things to do ;) Thanks for watching!
@@loveandlondon quite injoy it
I went to Edinburgh back in 2022 for the first time. I'm going back in July. One of my favourite city's in the world
Edinburg looks nice maybe I'll take a trip there
It's lovely. Thanks so much for watching Larry!

Which boots and coat are you wearing? They look warm and cozy for the weather!
The boots are from Will's Vegan Shoes, jacket is from Noize Original. Thanks for watching!
My favorite city in the world. I even love the cold!
Thanks so much for watching!
Heading to Edinburgh for 2 days in two weeks, so this video is quite timely!
Oh PERFECT. Hope you found it helpful. Thanks so much for watching!
I am very jealous of you ~!!! I originally included Edinburgh in our itineraries. And Loch ,that lake !!! 😍 But ,both physically/ financially impossible for us ( my mom is very old with medical conditions & I have some medical issues ) If I give up on Italy & Hungary & Austria...we can ! But,I am on my mission ,Wales is the main reason/ destination.
A very very nice vlog as always !! Yes ,I guess you kinda have to drink Whiskey in Scotland !!!? Lol. 🤣 I hardly drink so ,I won't !! Lol But,I'll be checking out many vegan restaurants there definitely for sure !!! Thank you so much for this video !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🚈✈💞
You're so welcome, and thank you SO much for taking the time to watch and write a comment! ♥️
I spent 6 weeks up there as a student performing at the Fringe...what a ball!!
Nice!
This is the next city I want to visit and it looks amazing plus I’m vegan ! Thank you so much 😊
oo amazing! Thanks so much for watching
I recommend a trip to Pilton
Really enjoying this city walking tour. Also, currently I'm a Samsung user - this got me thinking of going google pixel.
Really glad you enjoyed it, thanks so much for taking the time to watch and write a lovely comment! Yeah the pixel is great, been using them for years!
Get Video Jess of Edinburgh!! Did you get out to any other cities in Scotland?
And that phone is awesome!
The phone is so great, I use it all day every day! I went specifically to film Edinburgh so only made it there as it was very full on shoot days. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch ♥️
Someone may have already pointed out that what you called Calton Hill is actually Arthur's Seat (aka Holyrood Park). Calton Hill is what you would have been facing at the top of Jacob's Ladder.
And your walk to Tell's Books then all the back back across the city centre and down the New Town hill to Treen is a long - but wonderful - stroll. When you were at Treen you were two minutes walk from the Water of Leith. Just a few minutes one way up that is fabulous Dean Village, with the Gallery of Modern Art beyond that, while a few minutes the other way gets you to the Stockbridge Colonies and the Royal Botanical Gardens. Stockbridge is one of the city's more fabulous areas.
Worth noting that at Treen there is a selction of gent's clothing on the lower level.
And yes, David Baan's vegetarian restaurant is great. A friend and I, both non-vegetarian, had lunch there and it was fabulous. We enjoyed everything, including the peaceful ambience. One shouldn't be put of by the idea of a vegetarian meal; most great starters are vegetarian (salads etc.) as are desserts, while the mains at Baan's, the various fascinating concoctions and combinations that sounded unreal, were fabulous. We are definitely going back.
Thank you for this video. It is always great to see the city I love through the eyes of visitors discovering it anew.
Yes like 100 people already pointed it out lol. Thanks so much for watching! :)
Planning a trip to Edinburgh in the spring! Do you mind if I ask what hotel you stayed at?
Thanks so much for watching Melissa! Yes I stayed at Aparthotel Adagio.
The statue in the water was probably by Antony Gormley. He also has statues placed in ocean and tidal areas that are revealed as the tide goes out. Also statue and human figure in the crypts of Winchester and Canterbury cathedrals.
Yup it was! I put a little text thing to say that but it pops up quick. Thanks so much for watching Earl, appreciate it!
Next time you can visit Écosse Éclair, an amazing eclair shop Easter Road 🤤 So yum.
Nice, thanks for the tip! And thanks for watching.
Great video.
But you should have gone on the tour of Mary’s Close. The old Edinburg 50 feet below the new one.
One of Scotlands most haunted places. A great experience.
I’m going to London in three weeks. So your London videos are great. Helped me a lot with the planning.
There are a million things we could have included but there's only so much to squeeze into one video!

Love the video and all the recommendations.
My travel friend and I are looking at Edinburgh for next summer...what were the COVID regulations there like?
Thanks so much for watching Tiaesha! Of course the restrictions will change many times before you come in the summer so best to keep an eye on announcements from the govt closer to your travel dates.
I wanna go there soooo bad!!!!!
Ahhhhh you can do it!! Thanks for watching Gloria!
Just one thing, the Water of Leith is my favourite place. It takes about 4 hours to walk it. I walk along parts of it often. It may be small, but it is a river, not a canal which are man-made.
Close enough, think you get the jist ;) Thanks so much for taking the time to watch Steven, appreciate it!
@@loveandlondon not really. It isn't a canal, it is a natural river flowing from the pentland hills to the sea at leith. It's like calling a sea a lake. Not close
@@stevenmclaren2730 I was born in Leith and you are so bloddy true , nothing like foreigners trying to tell us what it is LOL

Kind of creepy to comment 5 seconds after you posted the video, but anyway 🤣🙌
I went to Edinburgh in 2018 and it remains the most beautiful city I have ever visited. That square where they used to hang people has lots of really good restaurants ! (don't remember the name of the square 😂)
Lol. I know that feeling !! Lol. I often try not to be the 1st one to comment ,especially if it's consecutive ones by flukes !! Lol. I am jealous that I haven't been to Scotland ,yet !!! 👍😆💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

Love the video! Any covid restrictions to be aware of?
This changes frequently so best to check before you travel! Thanks so much for watching Naomi!
the way you say edinburgh is perfect but when you started saying layyyyth i was cringing. leeeeeeeeth walk! ahaha
Yup as mentioned I learned how to say it properly on the tour. Thanks for watching
The Water of Leith isn't actually a canal it's a river - the Union Canal is the canal
Glad you went to leith particularly as I've heard good stuff about it. I'm aware prices in Edin are "almost" high es London but its hard to tell as you're vegan and that food is more expensive lol. Same with the bars and etc woulds been more useful is you went into more local hearty usual places to get s sense of the vibe for everyday people and the prices. Well done on getting up them stairs though hahhahaaa omgg
I'm vegetarian and actually veggie/vegan food isn't more expensive, it's often cheaper than the meat and fish dishes at the same restaurant. I was only there for 48 hours so there's only so many bars restaurants etc that I can fit in and I wanted to cover things I thought would be cool and a bit different. thanks so much for watching, hope you got some good ideas for your next visit.
BTW she is totally
