About Love and London:
This channel is a London travel guide for anyone visiting the city that wants to experience it like you live here. Beyond talking about the usual London attractions, our founder Jessica Dante and our team show you some of the cooler things to do in London, that most travel guides don't mention. Watch our videos and you'll feel like you've got a Londoner friend telling you the best kept secrets in the city.
Just took my third trip to London, stayed in East London for the first time and loved it. It was so much more interesting than the areas I've previously stayed in and forgotten the names of. Amazing dining options.
In London last week, I noticed signs in Tube stations warning of "gadget grabbers," i.e., people who snatch your phone right out of your hand and run away with it, so I figured it was safer to use my Oyster card and keep my phone in my jacket pocket.
Sage advice
Meh, millions of people use their phone to pay for the tube every day, including me, it's usually fine.
Iâm from Massachusetts. I was in London with my 11-year-old daughter earlier this month. We had our phones out constantly for photos, booking reservations, map apps, etc.
No issues whatsoever. London feels much safer to me than anywhere in the US.
@@christendowning5987 London is one of the safest big cities in the world, you just need to watch out for pickpockets and phone snatchers.
Mine is that mostly I'm a putz and would lose my phone. I use an Oyster card so that if I lose that, I've only lost my oyster card LOL.
Love the new team, and itâs always great to get the OG too. â€đ
Great to see you again Jess, and useful info, for new and old visitors !
I visited London with my girlfriend last year, and your guides were head and shoulders above anything else I could find.
We are now visiting Australia this year and I wish they had their own version of you.
Thank you SO much for your guide purchases! And the kind words :)
Nice to see you back, Jess - been suffering withdrawal symptoms!
Hey Jess! Thank you so much to you and your crew for all the tips and advice when traveling to London. I recently travelled to London for the second time in early May. All your tips made my trip more memorable and awesome.
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching.
Great to see Jess again, even if it's just for this one video! Also, loving her suggestion to "drag your kid onto the bus" - hilarious!
LOL
Hi Jess, thanks for your channel, My wife and I spent our 35th wedding anniversary there we stayed at the Hilton Kensington London at Holland Park, it was the most wonderful trip and we used a lot of your useful tips. We mastered the tube, we used our phones to pay our fair on both the tube or bus. Once again thank you so much.
Glad to hear it, you're welcome!
Thank you for everything over the last year! My family and I are on a plane tomorrow to London from the US. Soooo excited and prepared.
Have a great time â€ïžâ€ïž
Brilliant Jess is back đđđ
This is the last one! Be sure to follow me on Instagram or TikTok if you want to see more. @jessdante
Good to see you.
Jess, so good to see you again. For someone that has been watching you from the beginning and used your services, some of these questions are humorous. Best of luck!
Thanks for the kind words Richard!
Thank you!
Woohoo! Jess is back! đ
Also, the train ride from London to the Louvre must be quite a trip... đ€Ł

@@loveandlondon Your team is doing a great job with the channel!
Getting the Eurostar from Kings Cross St Pancreas International is quite easy, and safe. When I was living in London, I went to Paris for a day trip on a few occasions. Not impossible but tiring. The train is 3h 30m and you can walk from Gare De Nord station in Paris to the Louvre in 30m, but you should book at the Louvre as itâs very popular.
Not really. It's the Eurostar. London to Paris in 2 hours 20 minutes. Perfectly possible as a day trip.
Yep, just did that day trip but just be sure you know how to get around and back on the train. We don't read/speak French and got yelled at for it. No one helped us.
London's the first place where I have had no need to withdraw cash. It's also the first place where I have seen more 'No cash, cards only' signs than the other way around. London has mastered the contactless card system to the extent few other cities (if any) have.
This coming from a first time visitor who has spent 4 days in London.
Yup! We talk about this all the time and people still don't believe us haha
I had the same issue in Nordic countries and Amsterdam. In the latter places that accept cash didn't accept bills higher than 50 euros.
As a Londoner, this is some good info. Saw you at the Phillies game and hope you enjoyed it!
so happy you are back!! Bern to London a month ago, after watching nearly all of your videos, and it helped me so much! Thanks a lotđ btw- didnât use ANY cash- first cashless holiday, great in London!
great video Jess, cheers!
Was lovely bumping into you at Spittalfields Jess :) look forward to the amazing things you have planned ahead!
â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Great stuff.
Thanks for watching!
I was just back from UK and Ireland today, I only paid for public toilet once in my 20 days there. Malls, pubs, musems etc, all of these you can use for free.
Excited to see you again!!
Happy 300K đđ
Almost there!
Nice job & and I'm glad seeing Jess laying it all down for everyone who's visiting London soon!! â€ïžđââïžđŹđ§
I always enjoy London. I will be back again in a couple months. I love how easy it is to get about on the Tube. And thank you so much for the toilet guide LOL
Ah well thanks for buying one of our guides!
@@loveandlondon I am sure I will find it very useful indeed :)
We miss you Jess! You are amazing on CZcams. Hopefully we'll see more of you.
Wow you are 100% info. No chit chat, just solid advice. Love it!
Always!
In London we only withdraw enough cash for (region appropriate) tips - for hotel staff and some cabbies prefer cash if you have it. We take the tube 85% of the time but sometimes you need a cab đ
The Eurostar is totally safe! But to go to the Louvres, you need to take the RER or the metro and switch at Gare de l'est or ChĂątelet-Les-Halles. You need to watch for pickpocket, but it's not "unsafe".
We miss you so thanks for the new video
I did laundry! Boswell laundry on Boswell Street. It's near A40 and Southampton row. You can buy a tide pod from the owner too. But pack your own fabric softener sheet. I chatted with the nicest local who also helped me with the machines. Bring cash.
Long Land Launderette in Borough, too. Nice lady works there you can buy soap, bring cash.
Can't stay away, eh? Very glad! đđŒđđ
Just this one! Back to our fab new presenters next time.
Finally Jess is back! Glad to hear that voice đ
Just for this one! If you want to see more, be sure you're following me on IG or TikTok. @Jessdante
All of these easy to find on google.
Some other places out of zone 1 or zone 2: Kew Gardens, Wembley Stadium.
Not rude at all. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Do you have any videos or suggestions for Salsa dancing socials/clubs in London?
What a pleasant suprise to hear your lovely voice today, Jess!
Thanks for watching!
Also, about zoning, you touched on a bit ... watch when you're booking accommodation. You find a place and it's reasonable but it's zone 5. It's a longer trip to the sites and more expensive. We booked in Tooting but if we'd stayed just a few stops earlier, we would have been zone 2.
Hi Jess! So glad to have you back, you have been missed ! Great information and will be very helpful when I visit. Hopefully, we will see you on more videos in the near future.

Hey Jess !! Nice seeing you! You and your Team continue to share the best for tourists visiting LDNđ€©đ„°
Thanks so much for the kind words! The team are so great :)
I bought an Oyster card back in 2007 and I still have it. Top it up everytime I go to London.
Jess looks really fed upđđ
Some of these questions đ
Hi Dear Jess I haven't seen you for a long time but now i'm so happy to see you again.đ„°đđ€
You must not be following me on Instagram then! @jessdante
The info on the under 11 are free on the tube is invaluable. I've got 6 people I'm responsible for on our trip to London in August, and been struggling trying to find the best way to manage that, since I'm only bringing two cards with me and obviously wanting to limit the Oyster Card expense.
Don't forget most museums and galleries are free! A great way to keep kiddies entertained, along with river and park walks! Have a great stay! (If the centre is too busy for your gang then spend time in Hampstead Heath or Richmond Park)
@@AM-dz2sh Thank you! We've got lots on the books during our visit and are actually staying in East Sheen (had to get out from the center of London to find affordable accommodations for six people), so have some plans for morning walks at Richmond Park.
My London guru. Love seeing you back!!
Thanks for watching!
Good to see ya, Jess!
Thanks for watching!
You seem annoyed that you're doing a video. I hope you continue because you're the main reason I watch your channel. It's your style and presentation that keeps me interested. It's the same reason I watch a couple of cruise channels despite never having been on a cruise and having no intent on going on one--the presenters are engaging and entertaining.

East London looks like my kinda jam!!!! I think we're staying either near Soho or going up to Camden. Any tips for the Camden area?
Great! Yes we cover Camden in our itineraries and Casual Tourist Guides! Shop.loveandlondon.com we help you avoid the crap there's a lot there!
Pubs pubs pubs everywhere.. I like one opposite side to Big Ben đ
đ
I...don't think some of those people actually googled? However, the vid was entertaining, in part, by the silly lack of googling!
hahah you're probably right
I think one of your questions. Is it safe to travel to Louve. I think they want to go on the Euro train.
Yes, I think it takes about an hour and a half to reach Paris on the Eurostar.
7:36 maybe they were talking about the Eurostar đ€·ââïž
Eurostar doesn't go to the Louvre ;) Stops at Gare du Nord
need to create a love and edinburgh channel ASAP
Paris is keeping us busy in the meantime :)
Can you make a Video about the Ride from Luton đ« to London City? Thank You!
That's a pretty specific route that very few people would do. Just use Google Maps to work it out!
A very important question whuch you will be fab at highlighting is which rail airport links acceot contactless and Oystet.
The Stansted Exoress does not accept Oyster and contactless. Be fab and list which links do accept Oyster and contactless and which don't. Such things need repeating.
People who try to use contactless on the Stansted Express get a very big fine. A ticket must be bought each time. Contactless can be used to pay for the ticket but an actuall ticket must be bought.
Lovely to see you presentibg as often as you like. Your collegues are also fab. đ
We miss you đ„č

Can I see how much I still have left on my oyster card? also how can I reload it
Are the uber boat rides included in the 8.50 British pounds total travel day cap?
It's not!
Great to see you again jess we miss you all your fans always its great watching your vlogg again a kind American lady with a heart of gold đ

Hello Jess! I will be in London from Montreal with my kids June 10-20! Heck, maybe we'll cross paths. I noticed that you do not mention in any of your guides (e.g., your 6-day Itinerary) anything about where we can see ancient Roman ruins. Can I suggest you add this on your next updates ?
Visit the Mithraeum!!! Or the Billingsgate Roman House & Baths, I prefer the former.)
I also suggest booking a Tour, where they can tell you the history; as you walk between the sites that are scattered across the City of London. (Different to London City. Which they will of course cover off.)
:)
Actually, scratch that - Get over to the city of Bath. A nice day trip.
Welcome home Jess.
Missed you â€

If I use both bus and metro, do they add up as daily cap? And I thought bus cap was lower than tube?
Yes!
What prepaid card would you recommend (coming from US) got visa prepaid gift card for canada trip and it did not work anywhere. Dont want to make same mistake. Thanks for all the advice

Itâs so cold in London nowđ„¶ I ended up buying more warm clothes here. Note that I came from FloridađŽđ

I do have a question is this cell phone stealing really as bad as Iâm hearing ? And what do you recommmend for keeping safe w that
Just keep it tucked away and zippered up and you'll be fine!
The police made a big effort to deal with this type of crime and it is much reduced. But please don't walk along the pavement with a phone to your ear, you are making yourself an easy target.

Hi, I'm heading to London at the end of the month, and I was wondering if i need my passport for the bub? Or could i just use my Canadian driver's license or picture of my passport?
Bub, do you mean child? Yes they need a passport.
I just pee at a McDonaldâs or a pub.
LOL, I do a lot of museums so it's like my system recognises that's where I am and have to go. Also, if you're touring small churches.
