  • Over the weekend of 9/10th July 2016 the Golden Valley Light Railway ran trains in celebration of Simplex diesel engined locomotives produced by the Motor Rail and Tramcar Company and Simplex Mechanical Handling. Four loco's of their extensive fleet were in full working order and providing passenger services over the weekend, and in this video we travel behind the three that were operating on the Sunday in the restored Ashover carriage No.4.

    You kidding, it’s a really small railway, also I love how that little diesel has a clutch, it must make it more interesting to drive

      Yes indeed Motor Rail traded as Simplex and built “trench tractors” including the armoured “tin turtle” from early 1916
