Have just brought one of these. Have also just sold my Paslode impulse framer because am sick of the constant miss fires, maintenance and expensive gas cylinders. The Hikoki is a lot heavier but man, it packs so much more punch than Paslode. Paslode you need to get with the times and "get off the gas"!
Just bought this framer with the new multi volt battery system amazing gun !
Gotta love tools. Working is great. Love it. Some superb tradesmen/craftsmen/makers/all rounders out there and the tools nowadays just make it the best. So jealous 😂
I bought the Hitachi 15 and 18 gauge battery powered nail guns last year and picked up the Metabo HTP battery framing gun a couple months back. Love all the guns. Solid performers. Wish the framer would hold 2 clips of nails like the Milwaukee does.
"Santa's here" Hahahaha Cameron is the man
Same one I have but it hitachi in the states ... great gun for being cordless
Hi Scott , just found your channel , the big problem with those paslode type guns as you would know is they won't nail into hardwood which we have in our older homes here in Australia
I have just bought one of these in the uk,I wish it came in the box like you have, (you say its gigantitc) it is like a chest & fills the van on its own, great gun though, I have had loads of problems with the pcb`s on pasloads etc as it is so wet where we are, hope this Hikoki will cut the mustard & not have the same problems.
Love to see how you guys do things, Keep posting.
Have also recently bought this nailer after giving it a spin at the local trade show here in Kent, UK. I was blown away, especially the bump fire function. So quiet and powerful. Yes it’s a bit heavier, but time to work those sausage arms. Good luck with it!
Mike Wood what is bump fire?
@@MsElijah16 it's an automated firing feature that doesn't require pulling the trigger but registers pressure on the nose of the tool and fires. Great for quick firing multiple nails.
Tried them all still my preference is a compressor driving my original Hitachi framing and Makita 16 gauge finishing gun.
Doing a roof , drop your gun no worries the hose saves it plus the compressor so handy for blowing down tools and inflating my inflatable doll !
Setting up a compressor and dragging around hoses sounds like such a pain though
Google Isevil yeh it is a bit but I like the grunt of air as for Paslode I gave it away with that gas , noise and lack of punch and environmentally unfriendly throw away gas canisters , haven’t had battery ones though so can’t comment but that battery gun Scott Brown had seemed to push back on firing !
J T Doh did I say that.
Haha
Mum and I watch your your utube videos...ROCKSTAR dude....
Haha I like how quickly the safety glasses got thrown back in the box.
Plateau Electrical yeah not many people wear them aye, I guess it's a pretty low chance that a nail will hit your eye, are u a chippy?
@@MsElijah16 Nah I'm a sparky in Aus but I know how often PPE doesn't get worn. The safety squint usually covers it ;)
Plateau Electrical do guys take the guards off their grinders over there?
@@MsElijah16 Yeah we've got a word for those guys though. Idiots.
@@MsElijah16 most people I know use no guard on their grinder in Aus i prefer one on. Seen what can happen 🤣
Champ! I'm really looking forward to watching Hikoki nailer soon!
I'm thinking of Hikoki vs Paslode.
When you’ve done the review of the Hikoki nail gun, I’ll have it 😉
@paearu I love it 😎💯
And Makita better give you that impact dude!
Holla bro! I’ve got this gun and I love it
Hope it serves you well
did you ever have nail stuck in the gun ?
10 boxes for a free nailer sounds like an amazing deal
Fekillix how much is a box, paslodes are 200 for galvi, 2k, what's the price of hikoki galvis
@@godspeedjnr3068 those are ecko and they probably go for around $170. So he's probably spent close to $1700 on nails
fanaticz666 nope 1300
@@KaMcRaZy07 that's pretty alright with a free gun
@@fanaticz666 Nope $92.76 a box they were 90mm Bright Smooth, I would like to know where this deal came from, as I will go buy 50 of them and sell the guns on ebay for half price
Great video as always👌🏻
I have a Hikoki 18 volt 2nd fix nail gun, and so far, there are no real issues with it. Now I'm considering buying the 1st fix framing nailer,
Great tool
Hi Scott Merry Christmas and a happy new year
Steve
I’m definitely interested in hearing more of your thoughts on the Airbow framer. Their website says they’re planning on expanding their gun lineup as well. No idea if I’d ever see it here in Texas, but I would love to give it a try.
Nice is this ok for close board fencing?
Could you do a video on fasteners/fastening what, where and why? I was thinking at least hammer and a nail, screw and driver vs nail gun. Do you use "ribbon" screw guns in NZ ?
Hey scot I have been doing some research on the Airbow framer but can’t find out what size nails it shoots, would you be able to tell me what size nails they use ??
video quality is great as always, these consistent upload times are great too by the way, love watching these over breakfast b4 headin into work.in the comparison video, it would be cool to see some stats about how many nails get fired per charge and how a full day of use compares for both. also does that giant bulb at the bottom of the airbow get in the way? make it awkward to carry? maybe throw the paslode framer into the mix for comparison too as thats the kinda standard everyone uses. keep up the good work ✌️
The air bow can shoot 300 nails before refilling the canister. I believe they are working on a new swapper bottle system. Personally it's not worth it but hey. It's made in New Zealand. Gotta support it. 😂
@andyoliver great suggestions mate, I'll keep that in mind
In the US they labeled the nailer a metabo.
It's working great so far
Last year I had the same one as a Hitachi and it didn't last a week
I hope with a new name they have also worked out the bugs
It's the exact same gun just different branding , Metabo HPT in US , HiKoki almost everywhere else
That’s a cool compressor Scott. Love the Hikoki ,hitachi, now metabo hpt tools . U should try the triple hammer drill . I love that drill!
Yea i was wondering
Here in montreal they are selling metabo nailer that looks exactly like hitachi and i was wondering if metabo was copying hitachi, i guess its all the same just different name
The names confused me too
@@michelelanni9205 Hitachi bought Metabo and now instead of having two names they have at least three.
Yo Scott big fan. Second year apprentice here. One question. Paslode or hikoki framing gun? Can't decide which to buy????
That Hikoki nail gun is great, personally use it. It is a bit heavier than my older Paslode but you can get used to pretty quickly. The bump fire on it really is amazing, never take it off of it now. It's like having a pneumatic nailer (something that's never seen in the UK). Also, the black nailer, Hitachi tried something like that back in the early 2000's and I don't understand why it didn't catch on
it illegal to have Bump fire in New Zealand on nail guns... so that function is not it...
@@WackywoodworksAhh I see, very interesting
Ahh, I was wondering how to change it to bump mode lol
Hey Scott you able to do a review on the hikoki framing gun.
Buddy what kind of lamp are you using?
Mean episode:)
I'd love to see your views on the air bow. We had tried it before Christmas with the old style compressor
Coming soon!
Watched a comparison of guns on another sight. They were excited about the Hitachi as well but the Milwaukee caute
Paslode vs Hikoki? Which is better?
Hi. Hitachi the best gun?
Where’s your uniform 😂! Cool video though bro
Hey Scott, totally earned yourself a subscription. Really enjoy your videos. I'm totally fascinated by the hikoki vs airbow. I own the hikoki and despite the heaviness it is by far the best cordless/hoseless nail gun I have ever used. I decided to purchase the dewalt da bradder instead of hikoki for its nose tip and less weight. I am very interested in the air now being no battery and made in nz. But I feel like you would need to own 2 to be able to deal with refilling down time and that compressor seems a beast to lug around. Look forward to your reviews.
Sounds like mostly all positive reviews on the Hikoki framers. Aside from the weight of the thing which you just need to get used to I suppose. After over a decade of using my Paslode I am starting to tire of its lack of firepower with all the J frame we use these days!
Adsjabo hitachi drives a nail pretty good , a mate loved his one on site , I have a paslode though haha it's a pretty good gun
@@Adsjabo Im interested in seeing how the Hikoki does in comparison to the Paslode. I'll soon buy a nail gun, but haven't decided which one is the best yet.
Now that's a deal, 10 boxes for a free gun.
Been eyeing for a few weeks - Just bought via eBay - HiKOKI NR1890DC/JPZ 18V 2x5.0Ah Li-Ion 90mm Clipped Head Nailer Kit
Total: £420.30
Hi Scott,
The festool vacuum you use, which model is it?
Midi
I got the 16g hitachikoki. I have to hold it pretty hard against the trim or the nail won't get fired under the surface. Wish it was angled to get in more tight spots which is what you need on a 16g.
Mine is Hate to say You bought the wrong gun
@@gostdeamon what one do you have?
@@adamandlorraine iT IS THE 1865DBAL
We generaly glue the flooring, does is not squeak or get bowed if its not glued ?
Thats laminate flooring or in some parts of the world they call it floating floor or snap on floor
Anyways what ever you want to call it, you dont glue thAt type of flooring cause its not made to be glued
Hi Scott I have the Hitachi framer (old name) and like you I think it is a bit heavy compared to the paslode but when you can buy a box of 90mm brights (3000) for $55.00 it isn't so bad. I do love my Hitachi angle bradder though, I'd never go back to a paslode badder, to many mis fires.
Yeah man. I'm not a fan of the Paslode bradder, even though I've been using it for over 10 years.
It reads as strip nailer of the label is that different from framing nailer?
congratulations.,.,.,.gretins from argentina.,.,broh
Argentina ? Do u use much wood overthere like here in US?
am so jealous of all your tools dont mean to be cant help it lol
I run my Hitachi one with 5ah batteries it is a big lump but I have got used to it and wouldn’t go back now.
Nice. I was nailing the top of some studs and it was a bit of a work out
You get used to it. We don’t see the compressed air ones you have in U.K. so the hitachi is a great other option.
The way I see it, even the heaviest nail gun is much less stress on your armn wrist than nailing upwards all day lol
I have the Hikoki and it works fine. You need to put some lubricant every now and than or it’ll start shooting 2 nails at once
mrCiHs twice at once, interesting, paslodes never shoot 2 at once
@@godspeedjnr3068 50mm (2") gal nails always give me trouble with my paslode framer and double firing funnily enough.
The hikoki has a function that let's you hit nails faster because you don't have to wait for the gas to load up good idea. Probably the same with the other one you got
Banned in New Zealand
Does anyone have any problem with the spring not been able push the clip of nail true?
Interesting, I see de Walt make a nailer too.
Nee to get my hands on that one too
Funny story I was nailing above my head while crouched down in an attic using a dewalt framing gun I shot into something hard the recoil of it busted my head open and I bled all over the place
I have this gun, I did find the the big clip it has on it isn't that great for what you pay. It moves and slips out of its postition, not how it should be. Great gun though sounds so good😂
Waiting for the hikoki to be delivered on Monday
mmm think i prefer carrying a small charger and 2 batteries compared to a briefcase with a 50kg compressor lol in my van xD
I didn’t realise it needed a whole separate specific compressor does that not make it a little redundant as far portability?
It's hard to get info from their website, but apparently it pumps that little tank up to about 3000psi. Only specialised compressors can do that.
Yeah you have to use a particular compressor. Dive tanks work as well apparently .
show us ur friend cars setup, seems like you have a super cool setup in your car while he not.
Do makita not have enough impact drivers to just let you keep that one. Surely they don’t need to drive out to pick up used impacts for demos 😂
I thought that too, dewalt and ridgid gives loads of free stuff to CZcamsrs, and Makita couldn't even give one impact lol.
Yes that is a bit cheap of them since they get such great exposure of their tools in his videos
Yeah fkn bull shit aye, salesman will find any random reason to see key people though haha
Hi mate, if you do a review, can you do it while roofing, or using it to shoot together members of a stick roof, ie creepers to a hip.
Most reviews I have seen are done by reps who don’t have any practical experience.
Just found your channel and just subscribed👍
Liked how you looked at your imaginary watch 5:12 to see how long it was taking to charge⏲
Wish mine came with a hard case
The Airbow concept is as enticing as the idea of bringing back blockbuster to take down netflix. I understand the hose is anoying, but that seems like a lot of engineering put into a fancy compressor that you still have to carry around.
Paslode or trade tools nails?
Have you ever had any problems with your hikoki framing nailer. My one and my co workers hitachi one both miss fire when nailing at a level position
If held sideways or upside down it we’ll fire as normal though
I'm having the same problem now, did you guys manage to fix that? I've heard silicone spray up the nose works but not too sure.
Mean I just bought one the other day. In Aussie the best deal you can get is $829 for the gun charger and two 6amp batteries. Bloody expensive but great Gun. What a deal u got!
bro we just finished rebuilding a deck just like that lol
Godspeed Jnr what treatment timber did you use for the joists?
Scott I have an opportunity to sell my Taurus super yank to a mate and was looking at the occidental pinny, is it worth for me to sell. Have been building not long but if it pays for half of it at least it takes abit of that expensive quality apron down haha. Cheers! Keep it up
sweet emotion have a look at buckaroo leather too they are good too
What's wrong with the Taurus?
I tried not to think about the money when I bought the Occidental 😂 very expensive, but the quality is amazing. Durable as anything. Literally nothing has broke or even worn away in the last 3-4 years. It's heavy though, keep that in mind .
Just be careful with small but if laminate flooring. I’m sure there is minimum length you can use
Hahaha! Van twins!
You cannot find a DTD171z for purchase in Auckland expect one place.
Try Onehunga power tools
Good for harwood but how i s your Arm ?
Sore
got the Hitachi Brad Nailer and it is bulky but i love it
Agree with that had an old Paslode nailer due for retirement Hikoki is a different beast bulky But Ilike it And got a top deal at Northland field days
@debbiehill that's the thing I am trying to get used to. Using it all day is pretty hard work compared to the Paslode. The power is great though
I tried that gun and the dewalt guns I prefer the dewalt 👍
Just don't compare the Dewalt framing nail gun to the Hitachi/Metabo/Hikoki, the Dewalt sucks compared to it. It doesn't have the same strength to drive the shanks through harder woods.
Sorry for the Airbow guys, they have a great design, but big in comparison with all of the market, and they have also that big air tank? Pfu, they work fine but they need to go electric. Nice videos man, love to watch your episodes, and projects.
That's my favourite cordless nailgun! We call it hitachi here in Canada, have fun using it!
It used to be hitachi here in NZ as well, but they changed it last year for some reason
@@googleisevil1041 Yeah, they're now Hikoki in Europe/Au/NZ, and Metabo HPT or something in the USA (Hitachi bought out Metabo). Someone in the Marketing Dept needs to be fired.
Paslode vs hikoki review please Scott
Does anyone know the type of light he's using? 4:38
Where is the deal?
I've got nail gun deal for you guys, it's called a hammer lol
Not a nail gun bro
HI scott , where did your friend get that deal for 10 pack frame nails with hikoki giveaway frame gun ? i want to buy it . thanks
*key note. It dose not fire the last 8 nails. A slid lock becomes automatically engaged.
It's a bit tight arse from Makita to take the impact back from you, do they only have one in the country ? cost them about $30 to import them
Agree to that Not a good look From a Milwaukee fan
we got the hikoki 9 inch grinder 110v for on site last week, sent it back today because its completely gutless, our 4inch battery powered bosh grinder cut the same 6mm steel in half the time. not sure if its just a fault with this one or what, will find out in a couple of days when the new one turns up.
If you've never watched these videos with Auto captions on you should. Auto captions gets some things way wrong from the kiwi accent... Deck in the captions is... Misspelled.
In aus they are Hitachi. Not bad, but nothing beats the paslode.
They have changed to Hikoki in Australia as well
Makita don't have TWO drills ?
Here in the US it's called a Hitachi nail gun
In montreal canada they changed it to metabo
Sorry mate didn't finish , older homes as when we are on renovations
Ah for fuck sake I have to go an do a laminate floor now .cheers scotty 🏴

MS REBUILDING ✋✋✋✋😎😎😎 hi
Dear Scott, did you finished those corners on the feature wall? How?
Glued and mitred. Might be covering it with a right angle aluminum though
my paslode is a pain ,,,,i line up timbers and holding and timbers in position bang miss miss bang timbers moved i get cramp lol wanna replace it with a gun that works ,,,,,
👍🏾 Nice! Here in the US it's still hitachi, but with Metabo batteries now. Tool name is changing to Metabo as well.
Here in montreal they changed it already to metabo
We were Hitachi last year
does it have an extended 2-clip magazine? no, then FLUNK!
never had the opportunity to try a gasless gun. but i do agree. the paslode with its gas fumes smell awful. as soon as we will be on a jobsite that requires a nailer. i will speak to the boss about a gasless nailer. im sure that gas is not healthy at all. just followed paerau_ on insta. you better telll him to put up some content
Hello scott
Hey
great vid scott the hitachi/hikoki nailer uses air aswell it just rechambers it for the next shot unlike the airbow which expels it my hitachi has never had any problems and powers through the old rimu framing we get with older reno work
So would you recommend it to other framing nail guns?
@@gogetbill it has greater power than any paslode gun iv seen and you dont require a massive compressor to charge it just a standard 18v cordless battery charger
@@shortymister1 Sounds great! I hope maikta also bring one gasless framing gun soon
@@gogetbill depends on what you do really if its just straight lvl framing then yea but i do find that the paslode can get better angles and in tighter spaces than the hitachi
