BIG Speckled Trout CRUSH This Lure in Bayou Bienvenue: Plus Easy Limit Of Bass

- This is a good time to be an angler in South Louisiana because our fall inshore fishing can be absolutely fantastic. On today's trip, the main target was larger speckled trout using jerk baits and twitch baits, but I ended up catching five different species on this one lure: speckled trout, redfish, largemouth bass, flounder , and sheepshead. The wind couldn't decide what to do. I started the morning off in slick calm conditions. An hour later, a thick fog rolled in coupled with winds blowing 15 to 20mph only to turn back calm an hour later. The majority of the big trout I caught were when the wind picked up. After I quit chasing trout, I ran into the marsh to hunt for Bass and they were pretty much stacked up and ready to eat. There was a misting rain the whole morning so I had fits with the camera equipment, but the fishing was so good, I didn't mind. This abandoned shipping channel, known as the MRGO, runs for miles from Chalmette, LA all the way to the gulf. The rocks along the shoreline make a great habitat for all kinds of fish, especially during the colder months of the year. I launched at Eddie Pintos Marina in Bayou Bienvenue. Thanks for watching!

I appreciate what you do with the big females and 20 inch fish . I hope you in the 20 inch club if you should be . Tight lines .

Fine job! Putting in the work on a less than stellar weather day paid off. Those were some beautiful trout!
Man that was some solid trout.
The bass have been on fire in that area. Me and KB went Sunday afternoon and they are still stacked up. Nothing big, but I was glad to see a new crop.
Incredible day again and great video and catches!!
Some BIG, fat trout. Well done my man!
And then the crazy bass bite in the marsh. Would never make a trip out there without hitting that!
Good luck ahead and look forward to seeing your next one!

I love it out there.
Nice trip

How do you like that Tracker boat? I've been thinking about getting one of those for a while.
Love it. Pretty durable
Jar, just wanting to know, do you fish saltwater jerk baits or do you use the freshwater jerk baits
The only difference I see in the saltwater version is the hooks are “saltwater” hooks but they rust anyway. I actually take off the factory trebles and put Gamakatsu hooks on anyway. The other difference in the xrap freshwater version is it has a little feather trailer thing but it can be removed if you don’t want it. What I’m saying is I would use either one.
Just curious do you keep any fish do you eat any fish or you just like catching them you don't like the taste of speckled trout flounder redfish Bass even though they think bass is just a sport fish they taste pretty good
Fish is one of my favorite things to eat. I did a catch and cook video a little while back. I don’t like to freeze fish so I just keep what we will eat fresh and what I want to give to people that don’t get to fish. But, I also love the sport of fishing so I do a lot of catch and release. Thanks for watching!
The increased wind was the reason your bite picked up pushing bait into the rocks and concentrating the fish IMO.
Probably right
Hey brother I just picked up my 1860 Grizzly and was wondering if it would be worth it to come down to Bienvenue/Hopedale area the first week in January or will it be too cold to catch trout, flounder or hell anything?
Congrats on the boat! Of course every day is different, but in general, Hopedale and Bienvenue are great in January. I usually catch my biggest trout of the year around this time. If the trout aren’t biting on any particular day, there are usually Bass or Redfish willing to oblige.
Awesome thank you.@@Jar_Fishing
Do you use floating, sinking, suspending or try all three jerk baits when fishing like this for specks to see what they are doing?
@@youroutdoors5453 I use mostly suspending, but I change the hooks out and give it a very small amount of sink. That seems to be the sweet spot for me.
Straight braid? Or u use a leader?
15lb Fluoro leader probably around 5ft long
what is the model boat you use?
Grizzly Tracker 18ft
It looks like that twitch bait is connected with a snap swivel? Bite is just as good as direct tie on?
I do use a small swivel. It lets the bait move a little more freely, but it also adds a slight bit of weight to help the lure sink a bit more on the pause. I feel like it doesn’t cost me bites, but I could be wrong.
@@Jar_Fishing I always use a loop knot , on my hard plastic baits, using a 30 inch mono leader on my braid , gives it plenty of action , have you ever tried a wake bait cranking , I’ve caught some very nice trout & reds using one along shoreline rocks
@@karlrockvoan1587 Never thrown a wake bait at them. I bet they crush it if you catch them in the right mood.
What’s your favorite model of jerk bait?
XRap I think it’s the SXR08
@@Jar_Fishing Thanks! Looks like a fun way to catch them. Thanks for the great videos.
Hand trolling motor not good for back
I've hit the rocks 4 times last two weeks. Can't get a bite I guess I just need to figure out our far down to run and which streches to hit. Glad you getting on
It can be hit or miss for sure. When they bite, it’s usually big hammers and worth the grind. Thanks for watching
