My elderly neighbor is laid up in bed and bored. She loves Cribbage and now I'll be able to play with her. Thank you so much.
This was better than the first one I watch , great job trying to explain the game. Ps I think the Dog needs to go out for walk .
Round Cribbage boards are the Bomb!
The first hand of the dealer you showed with K, Q, Q, 8, 5, 2. As the dealer I would have thrown the 8 & 2 instead of the pair of Queens in the crib. With the K, Q, Q, 5 hand. You have 8 points with a potential for 12 points if a Jack becoming the cut card. I try to hold the greatest amount of points in my hand whether I am the dealer or not. Crib is bonus and not the bank. 8 and 2 could have potential with the 10 and 6. Far greater potential than the pair of Queens. 10, 9 cut card, 8, 6, 2 potential 5 point crib. Same goes for if the 7 is the cut card. If 5 was the cut card it would be 4. Only if the 5 was the cut card. Then the pair of Queens would be better but that's banking on one number not to mention only one point extra. Not much to have me break up an 8 point hand with the potential for 12 points.
Thank you for explaining the Pegging Round. Been playing this game all along only with the Show and the Crib parts. Now it's even more fun knowing the rules!
YOU TWO ROCK!!!!! Someone gave me this gorgeous cribbage board, but I didn't know how to play. Most of these cribbage tutorials may as well be filmed with the presenter speaking Latin, or trying to show off how fast they are! I get it, once you know how to play, it's a fast game, but knowing nothing about cribbage and having only a small amount of exposure to cards & hands, I was about to give up! Then you show up in my menu. Thanks for slowing it down and explaining just what the heck is going on!
thank you for not only making it clear, you demonstrated it well by actually playing!
Thank you so much after watching several video’s your was the easiest to follow!
Excellent work, guys. Thanks much!
In cribbage, nobs is the name given to the Jack of the turn-up suit. That is, if the turn-up card is a four of Diamonds, then the player holding the Jack of Diamonds scores an extra point in her hand, known as “one for nobs” (sometimes “knobs”) or “one for his nob” (or sometimes “his nibs”).
My husband and I are trying to learn how to play and your video is the best tutorial we have found! Thank you!
Thank you for your donation of cribbage boards to support the nonprofit Avivo!
Great. Clearly explained. Personably presented . Loved it.
Picked up a few boards from this guy. Really happy with the outcome.
Wonderful instructions!
You made it soo easy to understand, thanks!
This was very helpful for a new player
awsome thankyou so much
Awesome video. Just got a cribbage set and wanted to learn to play with my wife as we’re camping. Thanks for making it. God bless.
I like your video! Nicely done!
Just got the cards for dummy’s book lol. He said you only get one point for 31 after a Go. I’m trying to get the game down pat so I can always play it right and quicker. Thanks from Minnesota
Love your doggy x
Thanks for the video. My wife and I are just learning Cribbage, and this really helped us. One scenario that we aren’t quite sure of is this: I was dealer, and had QJ96, she had K62A. She played played K, I played Q, she played 6. I said GO. She played her A and 2 for a count of 29, and pegged 1 point for last card. I started a new count by playing J. She is out of cards. Do I: A.) Play both the 9&6, and peg 2 points for the 15, and then 1 point for last? Or, B.). Play one of my cards, then peg 1 point because she is out of cards and can’t play and I played last card, ending that Count, and then I start a new Count, and peg another point because she can’t play and I played last card? A.) seems like the most logical way to play it, but her lack of cards make us both wonder if that is right.
“A” is correct, except for pegging the 2 points because the count was never exactly 15. The count only restarts at zero when every player’s card would yield a score greater than 31. After playing the J (count is 10), you would play the 9 (count is now 19) and then the 6 (count is now 25), and finally peg 1 for last card.
@@stephenpeterson7514 thanks
@@stephenpeterson7514 would he also get a point for GO since she was out of cards?
@@luket6405 She played K (count is 10); he played Q (count is 20); she played 6 (count is 26); he says go; she played A (count is 27); she played 2 (count is 29); she pegs 1 for last card. He plays J (count is 10); she has no cards, so he plays 9 (count is 19), and then plays 6 (count is 25); he pegs 1 for last card. During pegging, only 1 point is scored by each of them since there were no 15's, no 31's, no pairs and and no runs played.
Thanks so much for the tutorial! I used to play this all the time when I was a girl and wanted to play with my husband with an old board of my parents! Your video talked him into playing so thank you!!!
Nice explanation! Loved seeing the ADHD dog running around and you and your sis have good podcast voices. :D
It's doing my head in thanks
It's too complex. We must be dumb
@@Matowix 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
Oooo I'm getting all worked up counting points along with them... However his first card he laid down on top of that seven would have given him two for a pair... Also, if your opponent doesn't see a score you can steal it!😉
Thanks
great video. liked and suubed. thats a nice hat too
How can I get a cribbage board with the Great State of TEXAS on it???
Also if a player misses points in their hand that another player sees, can't they steal those points for catching it?
Yes, you have to wait until the opponent has counted and quitted (removed their hand from the scoreboard), then say muggings before pointing out the error. You get the extra points they missed counting.
Also worth noting, he should not be keeping her score. There is a 2 hole penalty every time he touches her peg. If he moves her front peg, she wins.
For the hand 2-5-8-Q-Q-K shown at 5:20, the best discard as dealer is 2,8, not Q,Q. The 2,8 discard results in 3 points more, on average. Good cribbage tutorial otherwise!
Good call 👍🏻
Yes, I was saying 8-2
A J could have been cut for double run or also the 15’s
Do you have to wear a cap to play? Or, only if you are from MN?
ON WISCONSIN!
Do you only give boards to organizations or do also give to individual people as well??
Great vid i am just getting into crib and finding it enjoyable. I want to ask about runs and flushes. if i have say A,2,3,4 can i count that as multiple runs for example A,2,3 for 3 then A,2,3,4 for 4 and then 2,3,4 for an additional 3 giving me 10 points total or do i just count it as a single run of 4? and with a 5 card flush using the starter card can i also count it as a 4 card flush for 9 points? many thanks
For both of those scenarios you can only use the cards once. So it would be 4 points for the run and 5 for the flush. Hope this helps!
@@Genglyone thanks for your reply that helps alot
A player says, go. I have two cards left, how do I score?
I love this game, but tend to play it seldom enough that between games I've forgotten the details and always need a refresher. I'm excited to find this video, especially with so many good comments!
Out of curiosity, it's hard to hook up face-to-face with my friend who is the only person I know who can play it lol In order to get practice, are there any apps or online resources for playing the game real time?
Now, on to the video...
(13:55 just time stamping this for myself for the series of steps)
Question. Player A runs out of cards and says "go", Player B starts again and lays down 5 and 5...do they get 2 points for the pair? OR..if they lay down Ace, 2, 3 do they get the run....ie. if one player is out of cards do the cards laid down on one side still follow the rules for points for pairs and runs or 15? Thanks.
Yes
This game is very frustrating to me because luck pays such a big part, it’s true the better player wins more games but there are games were luck is not a factor. Chess comes to mind as a game with no luck!
There is definitely an element of luck, you’re right 👍🏻 I’ve heard a breakdown that the game is 15% skill and 85% luck.
Most card games come down to luck...
If your dealt good cards in any game you win...
Bad cards you lose..,
In that last hand, why did you not get 2 points for 15 when you put down the 8 on her 7? You put down an 8, she put down a 7 for 15, and then you put down an 8 after her 7... wouldn't that be 15 with her 7?
You missed counting 2 points for the pair of 7s at 8:17
I'm looking for a easy way to learn the gam
Did I miss her pegging one point on the GO at 9:23?
I know there are points for a 4 card flush and 5 card flush. Can you give an example of each and how many points they are worth?
In your initial hand you can have 4 cards of the same suit that is worth 4 points. If the cut card matches you can have 5 points. To have a flush in the crib all 5 cards must be the same suit.
you should of introduce the lady in person
What is the S in the middle of the colorful board?
That is the marker for Skunk marking 90 points. If you beat the opponent when he is still below the S marker (
But I really need to know is when you plan on an old-fashioned board and there is two rows does one opponent go clockwise one way and the other opponent go clockwise the other way or do you both go down clockwise together if you understand what I'm saying
did you skip a hole @ 20:49?
When the dealer turns up the Jack, its 2 points for "his nob". When you have a Jack in hand the same suit as the cut card, its 1 for his nib.
A great beginner into thanks. There is a bit more to the game than explained here.
who taught you?????
What is a nob
Knobs is when you have a Jack in your hand that matches the same suit as the cut card-this gets you 1 point. Also, if you cut a Jack you get 2 points!
@@Genglyone thankyou
She had 10 points without trying, lol
You failed to mention the ‘Muggins’ rule. Otherwise, a nice tutorial.
AND, can I not Mug him for 2 points? He laid a 7 after her 8 (for 15 for 2). Does he not ALSO get 15 for 2?... but since he did not score it, do I not get his 2 points by mugging him?
I don’t think us yanks play with that rule
You could of explained it better to your viewers if you showed your hands in view of the camera..
