I was unsure between Italian and Portuguese..
I’m a Portuguese that lived in Italy and even tho I knew very well he was speaking Italian I knew it had to be some kind of southern dialect (or someone that speaks in dialect and mixes dialect when speaking the language).
off topic but you have such a pretty name!!!!!
But it wasn't standard Italian, it was Pugliese, a regional language or 'dialect'. My mother-in-law is Calabrese and father-in-law from Basilicata, they don't understand each other's regional languages very well so they speak standard Italian at home.
I'm not Italian, but I can speak a bit Italian and I heard enough Italian words to realize it's some kind of Italian dialect probably in the south.

The guy speaking Gaelic had an accent I couldn't place until he spoke English, but damn, he speaks it better than 90% of Scotland (who speak none at all). We need to get it taught in schools again or it's gone within a few generations.
it is taught in schools all around scotland i went to a gaelic and english school and if you couldnt speak gaelic you could pick it as a subject
@@poop8649 I'm glad you had that opportunity. I went to school in Edinburgh and had no such option.
it sounds super duper similar to irish. dun do mbeal is the exact same as shut your mouth in irish
I was in scotland in 2019 and we went north to the highlands (drove from Edinburgh to Inverness and further up) and all I could hear was gaelic everywhere. Every pit stop every shop and mountain range we visited. I barely heard english from a mother speaking to her toddler to couples passing by. I have cousins who are half Italian and are pretty much fluent, and they say it's extremely difficult to understand Italian dialect. I discussed this with them in the context of the HBO show My Brilliant Friend, which is set in Naples, and they found it extremely difficult to understand Neopolitan, which is also a Southern Italian dialect - Pugliese is from Apulia, which is the opposite side to Naples, but pretty much on the same latitude.
So even if you speak Italian, having someone talk at you in a quick flow of language can be very difficult. I don't think they were the only people to miss that he said "mamma mia!".
