I had pet mice growing up and it turned out that our two boys were actually one boy and a very pregnant lady 😅 we had a great time with them though. Love the care you give them!
A lot of small creatures like this (and animals in general) will adopt. The rabbits my family raises and breeds will do it if you know how to introduce them right. I love it sm ❤
They’re so kind. I remember having a gerbil and reading a care book that warned that they were territorial and forgot scents easily so if you separated sisters they’d try to kill each other and you had to separate them if one gave birth because the sister would kill her niblings.
@@beeboi0097 that’s not entirely true, two male rats it’s not uncommon to have a lot fighting to where they can’t be housed together. Just way less common it almost exclusively happens with two unrelated males
It’s best to when you get gerbils, ask if they know if any are bonded. Gerbils, unlike hamsters, are social animals so they need to be in groups or pairs. If a pair member dies, it’s best to try and bond then with another. It doesn’t happen over night tho. You bond them by slowly introducing them outside the enclosure over the course of days, or even weeks :)
Thats super cool One of my friends cats had a kitten that passed then a couple weeks later her other cat had kittens and they both feed them We call them lesbian mumas
I had two females that got pregnant by the same cat, they gave birth on the same day, and then they nursed each other's babies. We call them the lesbian pride (like a lion pride) 😂
Rodents are literally the cutest things in the world!! I personally am more of a rat person but I also get so angry when my boyfriend's mom and siblings set kill traps for mice
Bruh...I couldn't have a handful of pinkies in my pocket and not be terrified. Not because they're mice, I love rodents, but because I'd be terrified that I'd hurt those little cuties. Albinism does occur in the wild in all kinds of animals you're just much less likely to see it because the albinos can't hide from predators and depending on species are often outcasts because their color would give away the location of the rest. The group will sacrifice an individual to save the rest. I'm not sure if mice do this as I know rodents have great empathy (there's been studies and rats will help rescue another rat even when offered a double reward instead of helping the other rat). Cats and dogs will adopt, sheep will adopt chickens will lay on anything, the list goes on. Meercat sisters take care of the alpha females babies. She's the only one allowed to procreate and if one of the daughters gets pregnant she will be cast out. Herds of deer often leave the fawns (past the newborn phase) with a single "teen" babysitter while the rest go off to eat and drink. Yep, deer preschool. I've seen it frequently just outside my house.
I once had a lactating Chihuahua try to nurse a baby goat that was 2-3 times her size. She just knew this was a baby and babies need mamas. Lots of animals have some adoption going on.
Loving that playful af transition, there is no hook like showing off ur toy that ur mom told u not to bring to school, you swore you wouldn't take, and she beat your ass for taking it to school before, to me like I'm a kid at the playground this is excellent
Gerbils AND wild red squirrels will also adopt. I had a gerbil mum who raised several litters that weren’t her own. She also had daughters who were extremely good mamas compared to other ones. The wild squirrel adoption was one I found out by accident. We had a young squirrel fall between the two sections of my MIL’s home (trailer with an addition). I managed to get it out, but wasn’t sure exactly where it had come from. I could tell it was too young to be on its own, so I took it over to one of the pine trees that had a few adult squirrels in the upper branches, and put the kit on the highest branch I could reach and stepped back. The kit (female) had been completely silent until one of the adults started to come down to see what I’d put on the branch. (I knew it wasn’t mom as it turned out to be a much older male). The second the kit realized he was near her, she began distress calling like crazy and he all but raced down to her. He checked her all over, then gathered her up at the back of her neck and took her up the tree where he was met by what I assume was a female, who he then handed the kit off to. I saw the kit about a week later, playing with some other kits that were all a good week or two older than her, so clearly she had been adopted.
I have a question... I caught a little wild mouse intruder in my house today Can they be tamed an be held as a pet? There are more mice in the celling so the life trap is set up again and hopefully it catches another one ore more so it's not alone but surprisingly it's not really afraid of me and would sometime even go onto my hand and groom itself on my hand 😊
They can. I found a tiny baby alone in the grass. Tiny loved running into my hand and grooming himself and getting scratches. But he was a lone mouse and would try to escape to be with me. When he did escape, the vast open room scared him and he darted all wild till he was recaught. So keeping them alone really stresses them, keeping males together causes fights, and keeping males with females causes breeding. Hopefully you only find 3 females.
Being blind for the first week of your life then suddenly being able to see the whole world must be so crazy like how can their tiny brains comprehend that
I had domestic mice that bred with wild and we ended up with pink mice a couple months later, we also had a blue and white wild and domestic mix once its really interesting seeing what comes out of it
Animals are amazing. I found a baby mouse once luckily it was old enough to eat regular food. I borrowed it a lil place outside and bright it food everyday until it moved on

Mice & hamsters are much more hostile and agressive than rats. You only have to worry about mice, hamsters, & gerbils killing & eating eachother too.

No they accidentally kill the babies fighting over them taking them back and forth!!!
Her pulling those mice out her pocket is the same vibe as that lady that saves bees when she just whips a spare queen bee out her pocket lmao

There's a reason mice/rats can quickly become a problem, they look after each other
