45 years later and this car is still doing what it does best
That's some super-righteous driving. Nice slow hands and almost no sawing at the wheel, just turn in and hold. Must be kinda tough doing that with a turbo engine that wants to take off and bite you.
Zakspeed Capri , was at Donington, park, awesome machine, blows away all op position.
Wow to the driver! He really knows the car and keeps his cool.
Zakspeed: First class all the way on ALL their race cars. I do not know how they do it, but they sure look and run very well!!
I LOVE Capri Zakspeed
Bravo maestro!
It seems so effortlessly going up that you wish for two more gears.
Amazing car i love the capri
Was für eine geile Karre, da trink ich erstmal nen Jägermeister drauf auf die Karre und auf die Zeiten damals 👍🤘
Mega 👍
Great Driving! in a cool Car =)
what where the little cars that you overtook so easy?
Amazing!
Sheesh. Video cuts off at the best part. 😭
Que canhão!!!
Geilo!
Wasent the Capris deathtraps ?
I seem to remember something about the front end taking off at higher speeds, but of course that was stock Capris not kitted out.
Still back in the day it was a nice looking car.
Mind you i would also like to try this, even if i would probably scream like a little girl.
@Gavin Tye The Euro Capri was pretty lackluster, but coming in a few sizes but the big one was a 3 liter ( V6 i think )
BUT ! most had the 1.7 Liter as i recall.
Well at least in Denmark i never saw a V8 Capri.
It was a okay looking car, a M8 got one and threw on a 20 or so layer paint job.
A V8 out front might also have helped keeping a front end more planted.
now I'm an idiot, and can't even heel toe downshift, so don't take this as rude, but is that blip a bit early? Or is that how the car likes it?
older cars seem to be driven just a little different
Were those Group 6 cars the Capri was racing with? If so how on Earth could that Capri hold them let alone pass them? That poor red one at the end; just got left for dust.
Yeah they look like 2 litre Lolas and a Chevron, maybe T290 series and a B26. I think the red Chevron missed a gear at the end. I suppose they are 10 years older and have 200 fewer horsepower but it's still incredible.
The Zakspeed Turbo Capri was even capable of competing with the Porsche 935s in the DRM (Deutsche Rennsport-Meisterschaft)in 1981, which at this had almost 200hp more than the Capri. However, the Capri was uncompromisingly constructed as a ground-effect vehicle capable of really insane cornering speeds. A car for drivers like Klaus Ludwig.
@@BlaserTactical Ya Ya Klaus Ludwig. I saw that guy drive an IMSA BMW through the corkscrew at Laguna Seca faster than any car I ever saw.
Manic with gigglesome power deliver.. Like an elastic band... Wait for it... Wait for it... Wait for it.... Twwwwwanggggg. Hilarious
That has a 16 valve rubber band, similar to a lot of B.M.W.s but better.
Actually, Zakspeed managed to build these engines to have, for a 1980s racecar, almost non existant turbolag. The engine pared with very aggressive aerodynamic devices and one of the first ground effect tunnels made the car very stable, even in relatively slow turns.
Who'da thunk a Mk. II Capri could ever go that fast?
