Just searched on eBay for "Beta Black Lotus", and that exact card is there. Guess Rudy bought it, 'cuz it's being sold by him. :D
I would rather have it in the case to be honest. Even if it is an 8.
"It's not a bad card" - Rudy on the Black Lotus
And people say Rudy doesn't know anything about magic
Another good video on the basics of buying and selling...anything. Key point for anyone listening, knowing when to walk away from something. Just because YOU want or like it doesn't mean someone else will. Dead inventory is a killer.
"You can't get emotional. You can't get emotions involved with this." -- Creepy Rudy with the best investing advice of all time.
lmao thats what i was just thinking watching that
It looks like someone literally folded up that Mox Jet into quarters. Timmy was like... Gonna fold this Mox Jet up and put it in my penny pocket where it'll be safe!
I remember seeing an episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond" where that happens! He buys his daughter the most expensive card in the game (it was like a pokemon parody) in mint condition at the end. She takes it, folds it in half, stuffs it in her pocket, then runs off happy.
LimitedInfinity9 I ripped a basic mountain from like 2015 or something just to see what it was like and I almost couldn't do it lol even a worthless card like that it just hurt 😋
Brett Jacobson With you on this. Heck, I even sleeve all the commons. KMC has made a fortune from me in perfect fits...
$51k is top dollar retailer. Even if you sold the cards on ebay after paypal and ebay fees is $6630. Then you add shipping cost. Another $800. So your going to be out atleast $7430 just from transactions fee and shipping. The top dollar market value is now $43,570. $28,700 to $32,000 is 65% of retail value. That is a fair value to buy all the cards even the ones your unsure buy them anyways as a whole lot. The seller has to consider that you are a business and that you need to resell these cards.
18K
agreed and for Rudy to make it profitable I would guess around 20k buyout
how about dont use paypal, it totally sucks as a seller, i only use it if iam buying but i sell my stuff anyway without it, well cards on mkm( i guess tcgplayer has similar conditions like 5% fee and buyer pays for shipping + little extra) other stuff on ebay
shipping cost? is on the buyer, never offer free shipping or markup the buying price and yeah u get more money out of it, were not talking about standard legal cards here, think longterm paypal is shit no problem sitting a month longer one reserved list cards
mac cheese You would have a hard time selling. I just started buying and selling nagic the gathering cards for about 2 years. I dont buy huge collections but I know what will sell. Just because you have 50 power 9 cards doesmt mean your going to make a billion dollars. You need to be able to acquire these cards at a reasonable price and then set your prices fairly in a competitive market place and still make a descent profit. Power 9 cards are luxury cards do you think the average player wants to dump or can afford $300 to $1500 for a card, the answer is no. The average player will spend $1-$40 on a card for their deck and collection. About 35% players will pay money for $40-$120 card, and less than 15% players/collectors would pay over $200 per a card. This collectiom caters to a small market would be a long time to sell because of the high amount of value of each card.
well i dont think rudy is looking to flip P9 cards, he collect this stuff i think (remember he plan to open a bigger store in some years and he can sell/trade them local aswell) even if hes downtalking for example the PSA4 Sapphire, 400$ offer wtf the card starts at 900€ here (in similar condition, and the card is sold in max 3 months for 1k€ btw) and i see it on tcg player not under 1k$
he is paying 5% ebay fee + what 2-3% paypal fee.... yeah 10%-15% profit... man i hope a nice hooker with beer and booze deliver magiccards in the US
forget the 600$ Sapphires on ebay, the only ones i can find are the type of shit u would expect...some dudes with 0-100stars shippin proxys
i mean its cool buying this collection for 30k but dont tell me thats fair (even without the 2 jets and the library)
if u sell for 50 cents on the dollar u are a fool or the stuff is stolen, either way u need money quick, the only reason to buylist a collection because everyone knows u get hosed if u sell to a store
sry man bad english but not my main language and drunk
Never played magic but I'd pay at least 3.50 for that.
I ain't givin' you no tree-fitty, you goddamn Loch Ness Monster!
Chuck you still owe me tree fiddy
I'm just here for Rudy and I never played magic, but I'd give at least 3.51 for that.
@@SplashAttackTCG this aint the price is right, bob
Plot twist. The cards are already his and he just wants to get rid of them.
Honestly $25,000 at most would still be generous. Perhaps 15-20 grand at most might be more realistic considering the random assortment of low value , and worn cards, as well as the fakes and questionable ones. Might not be worth the investment, but thou art CRAZY RUDY! ^~^
And for today's episode of MTG pawn stars.
Raaanch i actually laughed 😂
let me call a buddy who knows about Magic cards to come take a look at this
Storm Irma Crow??? #FloppyTaco
You never know WHAT is gonna come through that door
51 thousand? No way i'm paying that, best i can do is 500 bucks, and i'm risking it
I'd love to buy some of the signed cards. Especially anything from Kamigawa/Lorwyn block.
Nice insight into condition and purchasing. Thanks Rudy.
Saw the stress damage on that Mox Sapphire maybe 10-15 seconds before you pointed it out. I'd still buy that if the card stock felt right.
Rudy, i like you and all, but i'd never sell you anything, you are too smart and you will always win in the transaction
Or you are too stupid
The Morning Star knowing your weakness is not stupidity.
In other words , you can't scam him? Yep sounds good :D
Card sharks always pay less than the buylist price
Daniel Hewson well he is scamming you.
Now I have not seen every card in every box but most of the bulk cards look good and likely average about $7. If I were looking to quick flip then I would say in the 28k range. If I were planning on holding on to a number of things for the value to go up I might consider as much as 35k.
I would think the value of the signed cards, especially the black lotus, wouldn't appreciate as the artist pass away. considering Chris Rush only passed away a little over a year ago, perhaps a deceased artist signed, reserved list, power card will see a huge jump in price since its an even rarer subset of the card. maybe the market for signed cards hasn't matured yet as much as folks think it will, especially considering the nostalgia crowd is just now coming into disposable income as a demographic.
i don't even play magic but i'm so excited whenever i see a new rudy video
I'd say 26500. 27k max. On a side note, this mini series is really imteresting. I can't wait to see what you actually paid.
Be safe in the storm, Rudy!
Stay safe this weekend, Rudy
Finally your back, been waiting for this episode. Cheers mate.
I have a friend who plays vintage with a mox ruby that barely stands together without a sleeve and we barely recognized the card since it was washed away in the rain back when he was in highschool.
Still tournament legal though.
Start with $25,000, could be talked up to $27,500 ... then if able to, sit on it for another 5-10 years before selling.
I dont see why he even collected all this to bulk sell them lol.
He would've been better off selling them all slowly over the months/years than just get rid of all of them like that.
Rudy hope you guys are all safe down in Florida my folks are right off the Gulf and idk they're crazy as hell to stay be safe my friend !
honestly power 9 is only good for it's collect-ability... most players can't afford to play vintage, or just straight up don't want to play vintage. So, I am not sure where the market is for severely damaged power. I could be wrong, but personally the only reason I would buy one is for the joy of owning it. Not to put it in a deck.
Dylan Mooney There are a lot of people that play Vintage, surprisingly enough. Its not as big here on the west coast, but I've heard and talked to people from the east coast talking about how its more popular over there. However, generally speaking you would be correct, the power 9 is most useful as a collectible as opposed to a game piece. If I had a piece of power I would keep it on display and just look at it. The artwork of the older cards is my favorite. I'm also a fan of white bordered basic lands from Unlimited.... Please don't tell anyone. xd
The cards being signed imo hurt the collection dearly. It may be valued at a premium by a small few, but the potential loss of a far greater number of buyers due to the signed cards greatly overshadows the small premium. At most I would go is $25k-27k tops. If all cards were unsigned I would say $30k would be a fair price.
$69,420 for everything. Giggity.
wouldn't pay more than 2 dollars and a dirty sock for this
dwDragon88 i would of paid 6 dollars
Got no clue about Magic but like watching your stuff. Logic tells me he wants a retail price, so wouldnt offer anything over half his price, most likely less (40% of asking price). Especially in your trade where you can sit a long time on your investment.
I'm going to say 20k sitting on it for a long time can mean that the card decrease in value as time goes on depending on how long you keep them. Plus judging from what's in the box's and with the amount signed cards, those well likely take the longest to move.
How much do you sell the unlimited mox jet, sapphire and pearl when you have them available?
When are you going to open your card shop??
Without actually looking at numbers and calculating.
I say 30,000 flat. There is value there, but a lot of it will take storage space for a long time. I feel like 30k may even be high if 3/4's of it will be sitting for a year or more.
part three took FOREVER for him to upload!
Just keep us updated on how much you paid for the bundle if you took it! Im curious!
I've seen hundreds of card collections and usually the seller wants too much money About 50%-70% too much. I know nothing about Magic, but considering what you said. I'd only offer $10,000-$12,000 for the whole thing.
45 unused codes from taco bell's "win an xbox one x box". Or just 250 floppy tacos.
I like how you just spat out that little "Mayyourtacosalwaysremainfloppygiggity" at the end there
Its going to be hard to make an offer, personally I wouldn't want those jets, and those 4 main boxes are interesting, you'd have to go through and hand pick cards like the lions eye's and such but I don't think its worth the time to buy it all and list them all. And after all is said and done your probably just looking at the lotus the power cards all those lands and maybe a few other cards here and there; so no where near his asking of 51k
Man, i hope the seller is there and in the next video
Do we get a prize if we guess right? That would be cool and a good way to unload some dragons maze lol. I'll guess that you dont buy the alpha lotus or the alpha mox's but pay 12.5 for the rest. TBH I dont have clue lol.
I think somewhere around 25. Assuming you took the boxes too, nearer 18 if you didn't.
When he bent the jet I almost cried
Watching this channel makes me wana get back into MTG again. I know ppl are hating & what not with hosetown but just like when you watch pawnstars what do you expect when you take stuff like this to ppl like Rudy or a pawn shop you aren't gonna get retail prices for it. Smart thing would be to take some of the high end graded rares to a reputable auction house & the rest yea sale it to Rudy cuz the time & money you'll waste to get more money out of it rly isn't worth it. Next best guess would be for the guy to hit up conventions & get a table other then that "hosetown" with Rudy is a smart best option compared to the months* or years it would take to sale it all otherwise.
BRAND NEW IDEA vintage but without reserve list
The fact that there are like 5000 single that need to be sold, then the stuff that you don't really want unless its cheap, I would offer 28 and go as high as 31. From this video I can guess that rudy will be completely honest with the seller about condition and them simply putting everything at mint/near mint prices when its played or even heavy played.
How much for this collection in 2021-2022? 4/5 years later.
Rudy did you evacuate for the hurricane Irene? How you protect your investment against natural dissastets?
If saw meet in the middle, or a bit over the middle. About $25,000 or around $35,000.
I really like the cards that are worn and played. Does that make me weird?
Well, relativity says that all of theses cards can be flooded one day...
And i would give more value to a card actually being played cause that's the pupose i want a card to fill.
I may hate those cards cause they are in fact, two overpowerd and overshadow the rest.
I am going to guess you opted out of a lot of the signed bulk and really got into the nitty dritty of all of it. Im thinking probably $30,000 and you should be able to flip it for maybe a 3.5 to 5k profit. That id really based on a lot of the signed power and revised/unlimited duals.
From an average joe looking at the video's with not really knowing any of the prices, I would estimate 34-36k "seems fair" for every thing as if you weren't buying to resell. Taking the cards out which are too damaged or over priced and just buying the ones you mentioned (I think) 26-28k? maybe.
20-28k. That's my guess.
Sometimes I wonder why people have some of these poor condition cards graded / slabbed, especially when the grading cost is a significant fraction of what the card is actually worth. Enjoying this series so far!
personally i slab high value cards to prevent further damage ^^
how much is it to get a card graded? I always wondered that.
Honestly though, I think some people get even beat up cards graded if they plan to sell them online, because it helps to prove authenticity. Makes the buyer feel safer. Then the buyer can crack it and play with it. That is mostly speculation on my part, though.
yeah that is a very valid point as well. card grading usually costs between $6-12 depending on the volume of cards you are submitting
per card* i meant to add
Definitely a nice collection but also one that requires a lot of time to process and sell. Time to taco ratio is key here!
35K
Rudy I know those are expensive cards, but why is a faded/changed color any big deal? At least with new prints (bfz and forward) I've seen lots of cards (mostly cheap) that come with easily seen changed colors, or faded colors or things like that. Did older prints always came equal?
Good reason, thanks for the answer!
I would just offer on only the sellable cards and give him 65 percent. Hold on to the investment until the legacy gp, or protour comes up and off load.
30k is my ballpark guess having just totally eyeballed it all.
I love this game, been playing since '99, but I just can't justify a purchase of this magnitude.
That being said, if I was an investor/vintage/legacy player, I'd pay 23.5k
So I didn't do the full research on what each individual card is valued at. However, if you where to buy the whole collection I think you would price it at about $35,000. But seeing that you probable are not going to buy the single "bulk" rares and signed cards I would knock that number down to $23,000 for just the "juicy" meat and potatoes of the collection, you don't want the FLOPPY TACOS of the collections. That way you dont have inventory lying around 6 months to a year waiting for the right buyer for those signed cards. Just a theory....
30K for the lot or 15-20K just parting out very specific high value items.
So how was the lotus
I wouldn't do more than 33%
My final conclusion on what I would pay is as little as possible
I'd offer a handy and hope it's be enough.
How much value do artist signatures add to cards?
starcrossedother depends on the buyer not everyone wants signed because people play with the powers
starcrossedother usually lowers the value. Mostly depends on what card, who signs. If its on a 0.50 card well maybe get someone to then pay more closer to 1-5 since card is already cheap. Since most people rather play said card and be able to read the text then a signature block your view and look pretty on the shelf.
I would pay something around 15k for that max.
Can you wear a Roman centurion helmet
I want hurricane rudy!
HURRICANE RUDY!
23k. Nice collection.
i would start at 30,000 and back off at 32,500 that is what i would offer its 57% of the owners price and i cant really see all the cards and kallity .
That lotus could pull 30k if he payed double market value for those two hp moxes and held till today just those three cards could pay the whole trade…
trying to buy that stuff would be insane and then trying to turn it would be harder. signed cards, low condition cards and then other stuff is just too much. lessons to be learned... 1) dont get cards signed, 2) dont slab cards with bad condition, 3) stay realistic when it comes to selling your collection. this person would be better off keeping the cards instead of selling them.
I'd offer 18k and then flip the set for a long term potential 25-30k. But the guarantee is as always never there.
Protect this collection from hurricane irma!
I agree with most id say 25 to 30 for everything
Channel Fireball sleeves. Anyone have guesses on who's collection it is?
joe leblanc I can think of someone who just had a baby...just speculation
H3is7 I think hey would just sell directly through CFB is the thing.
I know whos selling this, he has an Instagram page mtg_illustrations he mentioned selling his collection to Rudy on ig lol
His ig page is really nice if you just enjoy sum mtg art tho
H3is7 i
THE PSA 4 I sold my extra one that was in better condition for $1000. so way over priced.
psa 4 unlimited saphire.
I'm thinking 32K max without those Jets that you didn't want to buy or the PSA 4 Sapphire and who knows what other cards you didn't want.
I mean.... I just play card games. I couldn't tell you what I would pay for this without my brain whirling around like a spin cycle. But my best guess would be just offer up some 2 day old Taco Bell 12 floppy taco boxes and call it square.
"I'm Rudy, and this is my Magic Shop. I work here with Creepy Rudy, and my son, Floppy Taco. Almost every card has a story and a price. One thing I've learned after many years - You never know WHAT is make that taco floppy."
I'm going to go with $46,500
So how many green screens will be revealed for 100k subs celebration?
Need next video uploaded naaaaoow. :)
$1 bob
I would say around $38,000
I'll be completely honest in saying I have almost no idea what this collection is worth. I knew what a few of them were worth, but only because I was given them as a gift, which I soon after gifted to a returning get who got his cards stolen. If I had to put a price on this stuff, and taking into consideration signed stuff and conditions, is probably shoot at $28,215 at the maximum. I could never got over charging a premium price for something so heavily damaged, regardless of what card it is. Also, why would you get cards in that condition graded and sealed if the cost to do so is about the same as the card? I'd imagine you would wamt to do research on stuff like that before doing it.
That Mox Jet looks like it was in someone's pants for a couple decades.
I wonder what rudy would pay for a graded beta lotus that christopher drew a taco on
With what I have seen do to time and work $43000 is where I would go
Hope you store isn't in Irmas path. Stay safe Ruday
Price is Right style. Closest bid without going over. Rudy paid, $33500. Rudy would have paid, $38000.
There's not a single Unl Mox Sapphire on eBay goin for less than $1,000. $400? Maybe if it was ripped in half...and someone would still buy it.
if it's inked and signed, does that mean it's double inked?
pretty rough condition on a lot of the cards idk wich cards u actually buy but i think about 15-20k
Im guessing around 27000. There is a lot that it truly not worth buying.
46,500
15k
Taking out the jets I think you paid 18k. Add them in and my guess is 24-25k.
