How Long is your sprinter?
Hey guys, congrat on your project! Trying to figure out something, maybe you can help:
I'm trying to get some information about insurances and self-built campervan.
I've got an empty van (crafter - volkwagen) I'm planning to install a fixed bed, a gas hot shower (external to the van) and a gas stove. (the 4.5kg gaz bottle would be in it's dedicated compartment, accessible from the outside) An additional battery, lighting and an electrical 1fridge.
My question is: Am I allowed to keep it registered (and insured) as a van or do I need to have the electrical and gas certified and the whole thing certified (and regoed) as a motorhome?
Even if I do rego it as a motorhome then it sounds like I'm going to have trouble to find an insurer: the three I just called (CIL,NRMA and Suncorp) are not willing to insure motorhomes which have been 'converted' from a van. Do you know any insurance who would?
I've got the feeling that most people covert their van and simply register them as campervan, sounds like most risk their insurance to not cover them in case of an accident, how did you end up insuring your conversion? Cheers, John.

Love it :) Are you guys going to do anything to the outside or keep it plain and stealth camp?
Our original plan was to be stealth but we have since added an Aircon and Maxxair Fan which will be shown in the next video. We will also have access doors for the toilet etc. But we are going to try to keep it as plain as possible!
