      @@RennerMinistries in addition I want to tell you a testimony that has to do with your ministry. I felt a calling in ministry long ago when I was in my early 20s. I was a missionary associate and then a youth pastor. I got out of ministry in my late 20s feeling defeated. For the next 20 years I was a Jack of all trades trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I was that wave in the wind you talked about. I was seeking God then seeking money or a business, God, money, etc. Now I'm 42 years old and I stumbled upon you and I realized a lot! Its like my puzzle is complete. I realized I was a minister in my own strength. Yes filled with Holy Spirit several times but not every day. I preached very poorly and it was because I was preaching with my mouth. I was copying sermons from preachers. "Parrot Preaching" and my personal life was defeated. Now I realize that you can't fulfill a Christian lifestyle without Holy Spirit and being filled daily. Yesterday I asked Him to give me an opportunity that I can thrive at and love doing because I keep bouncing around...He didn't answer me until this morning. (I guess it takes 24 hours) He showed me a vision of me preaching and rivers of water coming out of my mouth and people were building houses, swimming, and fishing from the rivers of life comming from my mouth. I started laughing with joy. Now I feel pregnant with this calling. Soon I will give birth to it and I want to thank you in helping me get there. I just purchased your holy spirit book and the 9 gifts. I'm excited.

    I would have liked to hear you go through the Greek words in the text and what they actually mean in context because in Acts 2:1-11 its expressly mentioned that the tongues spoken were understood by Parthians, Medes, Elamites, the dwellers of Mesapotamia, Judea, Asia and Cappadocia among others. And that these people essentially all heard their mother tongues being spoken by the Spirit filled men which amazed them and made them wonder what in the world was going on.
    There were some who ''heard'' gibberish and I imagine are the ones who went on to mockingly say those men were drunk (Acts 2:15). Those were folks who didnt recognise the languages (Acts 2.14) and would have required translaters because the languages being spoken were actual languages being used to communicate truths about God to people from other lands.
    The tongues were NOT being used as a means of communicating with God but fellow human being from different parts of the world (Acts 2:11).

    Interesting preaching, makes me want to seek speaking in tongues in my personal prayer time. I don’t really totally understand “tongues” which is why I tuned into this message. I thin BUT, please be careful- there is a lot that wasn’t covered in this and some seemed to be out of context- like vs.4, standing alone it does seem to say speaking in tongues, it’s good for you. BUT, If you actually read all of 1 Corinthians 14, it says that tongues is a good gift, but we should seek the greater gifts that edify the church (1-10), and that praying in tongues should be only in personal prayer- not in the hearing of others, unless there is an interpreter (11-18, 27-28), and that speaking to others plainly is best(19), and with the misuse of tongues, we damage our testimony to unbelievers and look crazy otherwise (23), keep quiet if no interpreter (27-28). Also I wonder, what “language” do demons speak? Could that “tongues” that we can’t understand, be demonic? There are plenty of example of cults and non Christian people speaking in toungues- that cannot be the Holy Spirit. 1 John 4:1 says that not every spirit is from God, and that we should test the spirit to be sure it is. So BE CAREFUL, there is a chance you could get mixed up in Demonic activity if you are NOT SURE about these tongues you are seeking and speaking!

      Hi Jennifer, Three quick points. First, In the original Greek our English word " tongues" is singular not plural.
      Secondly, three times in the book of Acts it Is written that believers recieved the Holy Spirit and in all three instances the first thing that happened was that they spoke in this language.
      And lastly, there are two operations of speaking in " tongues" in Acts and 1Corinthians;
      1) The initial evidence that a believer has recieved the Holy Spirit and the Spirit baptized believers private prayer language for their edification.
      2) The gift of speaking in " tongues" that is always to be accompanied by a believer with the gift of interpretation so that the church gathering can be edified .

    I thought the message was most interesting and totally agree that tongues a a gift of the Holy Spirit, however, the scriptures do not teach that tongues is the primary evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit. My argument is that many who were unquestionably filled with the Holy Spirit never spoke in tongues. Jesus never spoke in tongues and he was filled with the Holy Spirit without limit, in fact he never mentioned tongues at all nor taught his disciples one word about speaking in tongues. In his teachings on prayer tongues were never mentioned. None of the disciples ever spoke in tongues or encouraged anyone else to. Neither Moses nor Elijah ever spoke in tongues or any of the prophets. Neither John the Baptist nor the Apostle John spoke in tongues. The book of Acts mentions speaking in tongues in a number of passages, however, it must be remembered that the book of Acts is an historical record not a book about doctrine and theology like Romans. Paul says tongues are not a sign for the believer, but a sign for the unbeliever, "So you see speaking in tongues is a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers. Prophesy, however, is for the benefit of the believer, not unbelievers." 1 Corinthians 14:22
    Thank you for all the amazing and wonderful things you have done, are doing, and will continue to do for the Lord, you are a powerful and extremely gifted teacher and a true inspiration to all who have had the privilege of learning from you, Sir. You are a light in the darkness and God id fortunate to have such a faithful servant. I keep you and yours ever in my prayers.

    The fruit of the Spirit is not speaking in tongues. People are given the gifts of the Spirit AS HE WILLS. A gift of the Spirit is given to one for the profit of all. How does your speaking in tongues edify the church? No, you are only edifying yourself. This is so contrary to God's word. The Apostle Paul said he would rather speak a few words with his understanding than a thousand words without understanding. Where is the interpretation? I have been born again since 1996. I have had hands laid on me and I have answered alter calls believing I would receive this gift. I never had. I can pray in the spirit without opening my mouth. God knows my heart and my thoughts. Blessings, we pray for God's beautiful plans to be fulfilled in your life! - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11) - Team Renner
