When I saw Tina Fey struggling to play that instrument, I imagined she was gonna resort to tapping it, but I was thinking like tapping the instrument on the floor or slapping it in that rythm. I'm an idiot if I didn't think of knocking on it.
She couldn't make a noise because there was still a cover on it 🤣🤣🤣 OMG THAT WAS SO CRINGE. She even touched it and never thought to take it off 🤦🏼♀️
@@petalsforarmor106 There was a cover, but it doesn’t prevent sound. It’s a bell cover used for COVID regulations but the was no cover on the mouthpiece. She just couldn’t play it

How did someone get through the entire process of micing that mandolin without thinking, even once, that maybe it should be tuned up too? C'mon NBC
Very impressed that Tina Fey not only knew what a timpani was but the piccolo trumpet as well. The instrument Jimmy tried to play is not exactly an "Electric Saxophone", but an Electronic Wind Instrument (EWI). Although it is played with saxophone fingering, it has many other voices including violin, trumpet, shakuhachi, synthesizer etc. In addition to these built-in voices, you can get desktop and iPad apps from companies such as Audio Modeling and use your EWI as a MIDI controller to get the sound of pretty much any instrument in the orchestra, which are very realistic. I'll be playing my EWI (mine is the same as what Jimmy tried to play on the show, a Roland AE-10) as a bassoon when my community orchestra starts up again in August
TL:DR: The Electric Saxophone is a Smart Instrument.

I’m rolling here cuz I play sax and I went to Tina’s Alma mater UVA...doing us proud 😂 Yeah, the hardest part of sax is getting the sound.

@@petalsforarmor106 On the bari, I saw what I would call a "hairnet"--never saw these until covid came along.. But it is a very light mesh, and would not impede sound very much.🎷

I played alto sax through college and I don't think even I could play the bari sax just picking it up for the first time XD
you be surprised how much easier it is to play compared to alto or tenor just don't be discouraged by its size and weight! Well coming from a bari player.

Every time i watch these videos of them trying to play an instrument, i feel very stressed and omg... cus like i know how to play those instruments😂
Reed instruments are difficult with no prior knowledge. I still have a mark on my bottom lip from the embouchure you have to make to play the sax/reed instrument, felt so bad that, that was an option because its not easy to even get a sound out at your first try sometimes.
