    Check out Indigenous Strandz. She's a thigh length, high porosity, 4b natural non-trimmer. 22nd Century Natural Woman is another one with super long hair who doesn't trim. Bottom line know your hair. Long length can be obtained either way. Don't just trim because everyone else is. Like GB, do your own experiment.

    • @nikarmour7671
      @nikarmour7671 Pƙed 4 lety +54

      Indigenous Strandz immediately came to mind after I watched this video 😄. Perhaps it has to do with how much care she shows her ends. From some comments I've read on different videos, I lot of people aren't willing to put in that kind of work on their hair.

    • @TheLordsPrecious
      @TheLordsPrecious Pƙed 4 lety +62

      I think some ppl's hair just has more tolerance than others (whether genetics, hair care regimen, or styling techniques aid in it). I don't trim as often as I should/could, but I still retain length. Mind you, I do get tangles & breakage, but not enough to fully counteract growth. My hair is 4abc/waistlength-tailbone & I keep it twisted most of the time with mini-seasons of WNGs. Would it be healthier with regular trims? Probably. But I'm a lazy natural & just not that committed (yet).

      It depends on the hair but MOST should trim. That strandz lady must just have knot-resistant hair. There is a Jamaican "natural" (she dyed her nat. hair) whose hair, though 4c, doesn't really curl on itself. It's coarse, it's curly but it lays kinda flat. That's unusual. Maybe those other ladies have "different" hair. My 4c and my daughter's 4b must be trimmed. Ymmv, i guess.

    • @CrumbCat.

      Remember Indigenous Strantz puts Flaxseed on her ends to keep the knots at bay. 22nd Century uses the search and destroy method. I keep sheers in all my styling areas and will everyday pamper my ends using multiple methods. Green Beauty is in my top three.

    this is what happened in my hair journey and i always blamed my hair, i reached mid back length but with tons of breakage and ssks at the ends and i got so frustrated i cut off my hair, as i was cutting my hair i noticed how freely my hands could run through my hair and then it all hit me: i hadn’t been trimming at all since my transitioning phase, so yeah i cut of my hair and i have a twa now and i’ll remember to trim because it’s so important. im not gonna do a specific trimming schedule , i’ll just trim it whenever my hair shows any signs (difficulty detangling my ends, ends getting snagged in combs, fairy knots, etc etc) and now im gonna retain my length and im sure my hair will get back to mbl in 2 years if i stay consistent. im gonna keep my hair in a protective style and smother hair grease on my ends to preserve and nourish them!

    In box braids I like to not split in to sections when beginning a braid. I like using the two synthetic pieces and my natural hair as the third (middle) to braid. that way I don’t have much detangling to do after a take down. I like to go back after a month and take my hair out one by one and cut off anything that is supposed to be there like you mentioned, fairy knots. Spilt ends also then I rebrand each strand while adding liquid oil and some smell good. The next go round of braids I notice a huge difference in my hair. Less build up and fizz and breakage. I still follow my loc method in braids too. This helped my hair grow out longer than I have ever seen in my lifetime.

    I just overtrimmed going crazy seeking out every knot and split. Smh. I know with curly hair, it is inevitable to have some knots so I'll stay on top of them like you do 💓

    I used to dust my ends every two weeks and boy did my ends look thick and healthy! I'm going to start this again once I get my haircut nice and even.

    I have to relearn again when it comes to hair. I've totally fallen off the track. My hair is a hot mess, but I love it! :0)

    My lifesaver you are, just after JESUS. I trim my hair 2to three times in the year. My hair is not long, so every trim is a 😭😭😭, but i keep on it, and i am experiencing volume. So you just give me much courage. To keep on even when i see my hair getting smaller.

    Hi Green Beauty. I love your channel. You're very concise and extremely helpful. I was wondering, what's your opinion about black seed oil please. My friend is suffering from hair loss after having ringworm. Her scalp had never been the same since and I've heard that black seed oil is good for growing back hair. Many thanks.

    I'm just starting to grow my hair out. I'm working on a trim schedule. This video was very helpful! I want to try the onion juice recipe. Can you do the onion juice recipe and real protein treatment on the same day?

    Loved the video!! Thanks. Do you have a video on how you trim your ends. Do you do it before or after you wash your hair? After you condition? Before you style? Please advise us.

    I dust constantly and it doesn't affect my length retention. Its still getting longer (MBL currently) It also looks better when I wear my hair out cause I don't have straggly ends. My hair stays moisturized longer but I also keep it in twists as my daily style and rarely wear it out. My wash day is easier because I have fewer knots and tangles.

      That’s exactly why I cut my own hair. A hair cut is not a bad thing, it’s just better when you keep control of it.

    I haven't trimmed my hair in 4 yrs, since my Big Chop. When blown out, the back of my hair is just past bra/ mid back length , & the front is at collarbone length. I usually wear two strands twist for 3 months, then twist out for 3wks or till next washing. I may do a blow out/flat iron in the fall for like a month, but it took me 2yrs b4 I put heat in my heat. My hair "trims itself?" in a wide V shape in the back....Anyway, I did a blow out/flat iron about a month ago & was thinking to trim my ends for a more polished look. Thanx for video.
