@@adder2 Got that brain fog and the name is escaping me, but the song is an ancient jazz standard and there are dozens of .MIDI's out there. Reinventing the wheel is silly so I'm assuming they lifted the piano roll from one of them.

The ability to use a recording as a starting point is pretty cool
This software reminds me of Vocaloid and its successors, like CeVIO and SynthV! The latter two are really similar to this in terms of natural-ness and quality, while Vocaloid and UTAU keep a robotic-ness for their charm. It's really interesting to see how this technology has evolved over time!

Reminds me of Emvoice, which is probably still king as far as sketching out vocals is concerned? Not sure, really depends.
Honestly, the quality is... okay, still plenty far from what we're looking forward to, but usability seems to be somewhat improved, which, to be perfectly clear, is something that all DAWs and all VSTs are struggling with (at least in combination). Make it easy to allow for nice workflows and the quality almost doesn't matter, mostly because we'll be seeing fully customizable and highly granular text-to-vocals vsts finally becoming a reality, pretty much closing the gap between paying performers and getting to do everything in-the-box.
What I'm still hoping for is some sort of translational kind of plugin archetype making it possible to play any given instrument and perfectly replicate a natural performance in MIDI (think Shreddage; it's already such a fantastic instrument, but charting out your own performance, even with great plugins like MIDI Guitar, is still a chore. Nowhere near as bad as tracking doubled guitar takes or similar hurdles, but there is so much that could be even more enjoyable. Instruments like Drums and, obviously, all keys, are pretty much a solved problem, you not only get sample-based "recordings" that are indistinguishable from the real thing, you also get to polish bad takes... do that for any instrument and the bedroom production ideal has been achieved.
Of course, there is still another abstraction layer left where we can reduce the required work, but that can wait a few more months as far as I am concerned. Music production is going to be so drastically different so very soon anyway, I almost enjoy the calm before the intense storm we're about to have.
Come on Synth V is in a totally different class. Way better.

Oh, wow, when I started producing in 2003, this was the type of things that I imagined and hoped existed, back then we had some strange ogre voice sample player, and then we had vocaloids, and then we also had the accessibility voice that reads stuff and we used to sample that for lyrics.

something like this has been out for more than 10 years XD (eg vocaloid) also vocaloid and synthesizer v studio for example should come with vst versions, idk if you need the pro version of synthv for that tho :p synthesizer v is the most advanced/realistic sounding vocal synthesizer existing today from what I know

Wow - this was really fun. I remember back in the 2000's I was messing around with Fruity Loops and couldnt get anyone to battle me so I eventually just gave up doing anything more. I made a few things but stopped. I should really get back into this as it looks like so much fun, just an incredible learning curve for programs like these.
Learning curve ain't too bad these days. I think most DAWs have some type of feature to more-quickly orient yourself. I know with Logic (and pretty sure Ableton too), you can hover over anything and have it display what it is with a brief description of what it does, and have it jump right to that section of the manual for more detailed info.

I remember about 15 or 18 years ago Vocaloid software by Yamaha was attempting to do the same thing.
This was a lot more entertaining than I expected. Here I was, freshly-baited by the keywords "AI singing DAW insane" and inadvertently found myself a new sub. Didn't think watching someone goof on some dumb jokes while dragging files and automation points could be this enjoyable lol.
On a realer note, I like how this highlights the importance of not always taking yourself too seriously and making sure you're *having fun* during the production process. Imo if you don't find yourself at least occasionally chuckling as you go, you're either doing it wrong or just haven't noticed the giant stick up your ass. 🤣
