  • Sulekha, was one of the major crowd pullers in the Kolkata International Book Fair. The response - from nostalgic old people to youngsters seeking their first brush with pen and ink, was overwhelming. Inked Happiness was there at the Sulekha stall - here is a quick snapshot with feedback from the actual end-users.
The Satyajit Ray Ink, the Jamini Roy series of inks and, the Abeg Series which comprised Mohun Bagan East Bengal and Mohemmadan Sporting inks were big hits. However, the Banga Lipi series of notebooks, relaunched after decades was the one that created the real stir.

What a coincidence. Was searching for the Satyajit Ray version of the ink, and up comes your video at the perfect moment. Feluda would say telepathy.

Thanks for this video. I like your videos and I keep checking every week for updates. I have a couple of requests for you.
Can you do a video on woodex and plp? I read a post on woodex that you had done. I enjoyed it. IAM also a fan of woodex.
Also can you please do some videos on the pen turners themselves. I feel given the resources available and constraints of the small scale, these pen turners here turn out exceptionally interesting high quality pens. It will be very nice if you can do a video on the pen turners. I find mr Prabhakar and mr Lakshmi pathi of woodex and plp to be excellent craftsmen but I know nothing about them

you are absolutely right about the pen turners. i too have often wanted to feature them. but the biggest constraint is money. let us hope that i am able to save enough to travel to the south and bring their stories for you :)

to be honest, it is purely a personal choice. some prefer imported inks. some prefer costly inks. some prefer locally-made inks. even inks from the same brand have been known to differ from batch to batch. to be on the safe side, try to avoid pigment-based inks or glitter inks and go for dye-based inks. maintain good fountain pen hygiene. rest is a process of trial and error - some inks for example, are drier than others. some act differently when coupled with fine nibs. most react differently with different types of paper. so, to cut a long story short, there is no one ink that fits all pens, or satisfies the user, it is a journey of discovery that one has to make. happy inking :)
