  • In recent years I have been hearing more and more often about the miraculous effects of coconut oil. As a follower of the Mediterranean diet and a big believer in the importance of authentic Greek olive oil for our health, I wanted to see if coconut oil does what it promises. Is it possible for coconut oil to "burn belly fat?"
Initially the studies brought by marketers and fans of the particular product were studies that did not have a control group. This means they gave some people coconut oil and told them they would be weighed every week to see if they lost weight. From what we already know from medical studies, if you tell someone "do something and I'll weigh you", they are very likely to lose weight just from the process. Well, these studies are not reliable. We immediately put them aside.
In studies where coconut oil had a control group the results were clear. Coconut oil leads to significantly worse health indicators than any other oil. Coconut oil leads to an increase in LDL lipoprotein, the measurement we often call "bad cholesterol." It also increases triglycerides, total cholesterol, and generally worsens heart markers.
If you've been meaning to try coconut oil for weight loss, don't try it. There's no way he's going to help you with that either. Studies show that it does nothing.
All the researchers warn against this particular oil and suggest using it only to replace butter and animal fats, which is definitely an even worse choice.
Don't let the ad fool you. Coconut oil has nothing good to offer you. But if you really want to know what foods help lower cholesterol then you need to click on the video currently displayed to my right. I remind you that by pressing the like button and sharing the video you help me a lot. Thank you.
