    Thanks for featuring the OM-5 camera. I have the EM-5 Mark III and believe both these cameras are excellent for those hiking and traveling as to their small form factor and many features.

    I have been using an EM5 mkii and an EM1 mkii in the Dolomites since September 2017 and have had great success with both cameras

      They are both great cameras. If you get the chance to try the OM-5, it's pretty amazing!

    Beautiful compositions and tack sharp. Not a fan of the over saturated look. But I am impressed that you did the whole gig on three f4 PRO zooms. Great stuff.

    Hello Mr. Frank, your review is very nice and its super informative. What I wanted to saw, is more nature and mountains photos. I have seen many reviews of OM5 but no one has given mountains photoshoot reviews like you.
    The reason is, I am looking for a lightweight and compact camera to use on high altitude expeditions in the Himalayas and I am expecting to get good quality photos of other mountains from the top of the summit. And I think the OM5 is the only camera that works in snow and rain. which camera would you recommend? is the OM5 a best option? I'll be very grateful if you guide me. Thank you.

      @@Rohan7ish Thanks for your kind comments and I’m glad you found it helpful! Regarding your question about a recommendation, I am partial to the OM-1. However, it is heavier and more expensive.

    Thank you for your presentation! Excellent pictures ! I'm not sure whether to buy the OM-5... I like taking landscape and street photography... but I take a lot of photos of my daughters... who do sports... how does the camera behave in this department...thanks!

    Some wonderful photos! Video clips looked fine. Few cameras suited for long hikes or a backpacking trip (small and lightweight), this could be one. Would it work reasonably well as a studio camera as well?

    • @ftaylorsmith
      @ftaylorsmith  Před rokem

      Thank you very much & it certainly could also be used for studio work.

    Good and interesting video with lots of outstanding images of my favourite landscape and hiking area. You were lucky with the weather too!
    The Om5 might be the perfect hiking camera for me, i skipped the line after the initial E-M5 because i usually require mire FPI for my images and also regularly use features like LiveND, StarrySky and HHHR with my E-M1 III and OM I. But i am not getting younger, every kilo counts when hiking and the OM5 offers all the landscape features i might need.
    How well does the IS work compard to the Om1?
    Regards from Munich - Sabine

      @ftaylorsmith  Před rokem

      Thanks for your kind comments! This camera is very well suited for hiking. The weight, size & features are designed for this type of use. The IS works really well. Especially when paired with a synced lens.

    Would like to hear your thoughts on the OM-1?

  • @Swaggerlot
    @Swaggerlot Před rokem +1

    If you are excited, I have to ask if you have already tried the OM-5 Mk 3? For example the 'starry sky' is merely a firmware update that could have already been provided in the MK3, much like the ND option. OM Systems are doing a lot of shooting themselves in their legs.

    • @kjl6138
      @kjl6138 Před rokem +1

      Agreed. Unfortunately, this is a lame upgrade and an embarrassment for OM compared to the OM-1. They better step up their game.

    • @RobShootPhotos
      @RobShootPhotos Před rokem +4

      I've heard the firmware update thought. The E-M5 Mark III has a TruePic VIII processor and the OM-5 has the TruePic IX processor. It's a hardware upgrade with updated firmware. The newer processor gives the ability for the updated firmware to work properly. So no, this isn't just a firmware update.

      @@RobShootPhotos Very mute point, best argued by the publicity people.

      Just go buy an OMD EM 1 Mk 3 - much more sturdy kit, with magnesium body as well. OM5 has a polycarbonate shell. Polycarbonate is a tough plastic, but it is still plastic.

    Why be excited about this camera ? It is not new. It is a copy of the OMD EM5 Mk 3 - with a few so called 'goodies' under the hood, that's all. No charger - same sensor, same EVF - same plastic body, same control lay out, same rear screen. Same pathetic battery. I wont go on. OM System getting rid of old stock ? ?
    To prove my point. For those who purchase this camera, in about a years time from purchase date, buy a tube of Supa glue, that's the time the rubber thumb rest on the rear of the body, starts to peel off. 😢
