My kids want to play this tonight, I've been putting it off most of the night thinking it would be much easier now I'm in full blown break-down mode calling my mom to see if she's too busy Friday to come show me how to play bc honestly this game is looking as stressful as the real thing, and I literally can not even.
😆 It's my second video. And even though this video was way better and helpful. I'm definitely going to have to rewatch it and take the notes he has. I played a LONG time ago. So some parts I remember but there is ALOT to know. 😳😂

Reuben Klamer the toy inventor of "The Game of Life" died on 9/14/21 He also created the phaser rifle used in the" Star Trek" TV series. It's amazing that a man who created one of the most popular games in US history ended up being it's biggest winner of all. He lived to be 99 years old. Obviously he knew a lot more about winning in the real game of life than anybody ever gave him credit for.

It seems like this game mostly plays itself?
Sure there are some a few spaces scattered around the board that allow for a decision, but with up to 10 spaces per move, you'll just jump over most of those.

If I'm not mistaken those who didn't the college route are not able to get certain careers, I think like doctors and such. So even if you get to pick a random card, the doctor's card for instance cannot be included in the pile.
Yep, also accountant I believe. And as a kid we wouldn't allow none college players to be abled to select the 100k salary
Now imagine the millennial edition: you don't buy a house, just pay rent and don't get to retire because everyone dies from climate change related causes

There is a game space for "Get Married." Each player stops for that space and adds a spouse.

What if the bank doesn't have any more loans to give out and you have to pay a high amount that you don't have. Is that when you can't loan more money and therefore go bankrupt and loose without reaching the retirement? And what if when you go into retirement and can't pay the loans, do you then also go bankrupt and loose the game?
I used to play this quite often as a kid, but me and my friends don't really follow all the rules I thin, for instance we didn't know you set aside 4 life tile for the millionaire estate. But I remember everyone just played it out to the end until you reach the end of the steps. Because you only flip the life tiles at the end when everyone reached the end, so you can take however much loan you need, the bank never really goes out of it because I think it's impossible for everyone to be that much in lone, I believe they must've calculated the highest possible debt you can be in if you were extremely unlucky and they'd still be loan to pass around, just like there will always be enough bank notes for all players no matter how lucky everyone is, besides not all can be lucky, like the career thing the highest paying one is usually among 1 or 2 cards, and the debt incurred from not having insurance and getting into accident and such are usually around 5k or something.
SO you really just play to the end , flips everyone's tile and if you have loan you can pay it off from the notes you get from your life tiles. I think it might be possible for you to get that unlucky to claim all your life tiles earning and still not have enough to pay your loan, in which case you'd obviously have a negative sum of money so obviously unless someone is in a bigger debt than you, you lost. But everyone gets to play out the entire length of the game.

One player retired to countryside. Hé had 80,000 salary. Another player landed on swap salary card but I said hé couldnt swap with the retired person. Was I right? Retired player had 80,000 highest salary in the game at that moment.

I don't see that the game requires a strategy to win. Real life requires a strategy. Wait, this is what happens! Living without a strategy for the future, being reactive to events as they occur, is lived out on this board game! (Somewhere a vegan graduate student with $100k of student loan debt is writing a Master's thesis on this deconstruction.)

Are you playing really old version to think this is changed completely? Because last I played was the late 90s version and this pretty much stayed the same. The newer version has different graphics, career choices and all. I'm actually surprised that this is 4 year old video and the board and cards' graphics looks identical to the one I had in the 90s.

Alonso S: Agreed. The older games are much better. The game version used in this video appears to be from 1999/2000.
I just found this version on eBay it was trademarked 2005. Hope that helps!

Heidi Loveless I’m pretty sure they made the same version from the late 90s through mid 2000s. At least that how it seems since this video shows the same version of the one I have thats marked 2005. Sorry I can’t help more. Honestly I would look at the Wikipedia page for the game. Those always have so much information haha

Richard teacher get salary and summer job which mean the teacher get another job, but no other salary, only get pay when land the space spot to pay, for example teacher is main job get pay $70,00 on pay day the salary , the another job is artist only gets pay when another player lands the artist space pay the player who has that career.
