I've been getting requests for a Choker video forever. I know a lot of you LOVE Peak and Honeybloom, but I figured I'd make this video anyway. Not everybody knows the greatness of this wonderful musician. The comparison to Frank Ocean is there, yes, but I think he's on his way to setting himself apart from the rest.
"Why isn't anyone listening to..." is a pretty good name for this kind of segment!

Choker is awesome. I can understand some people getting a little angry over the Frank Ocean similarities but in my opinion he has his own style. (And Frank is my favorite artist) His third EP from the newly released series is really really amazing.
Lucca Pagin Frank Ocean stays in the realm of rnb and soul while Choker goes more into rock & is experimental. I can understand the comparison as far as their voices, but besides that the music is very different

Shakyra Walker maybe Channel Orange and Nostalgia Ultra, but Endless and Blonde are somewhat rock influenced and Endless is VERY experimental. Choker makes music like Endless.

As of this video being made, choker only had like 4000 CZcams followers and even less instagram followers. He's unknown, it's good video
Also some of his songs still today only have 150 views. 150, not 150k. Must be frustrating for him to put out these masterpieces that don't really see the light

I just heard the frank ocean comparisons and chokers been my favorite artist for awhile. I never really felt like he was trying to be anyone but himself

Songs came on and I thought it was frank ocean till I realized “this ain’t a frank song” checked more of his stuff and I was amazed. He does give a frank ocean vibe but at the same time he owns that and makes it his own beast. He’s able to produce sounds and emotions I have yet to hear from frank (partly cuz he barely releases anything). But at the same time it’s genre bending as none of his songs really stick to one genre IMO. I’m really liking his stuff and excited to see what else he’s able to produce for us

I don't think it's quite fair that he got compared to Frank Ocean, maybe vocally to some point and to some degree sonically but I've listened to PEAK enough to be able to make a distinction between the two artists, even Honeybloom strayed away from anything that Frank Ocean has made thus far so... I don't know man

"why don't i listen to blonde...?" because blonde is only one album. this kid has basically extended what frank did and, in my opinion, improved upon it. i put choker or shuffle and just zone out. even with blonde there are a few tracks that I skip

His production has gone more into his own style, but the rapping on honeybloom is textbook frank from flows to actual content. There are some moments on the album where it might as well be frank, but I’m still looking forward to his development. Like you, Peak connected with me more definitely.

I love Choker! I got into his music just after Peak and he’s really impressed me. I kind of like how he’s a simpler version of Frank Ocean. It’s vibey and I love his stuff! More people should listen to him for sure.
