    Stuck in El Chapo's hometown of Culiacan, Mexico and down to my last stick. Leaving for Guadalajara on Monday where I have multiple trusted sources to buy sticks but until then I found some petit corona size sticks and the price point was alright so what can you do? Gotta have sticks to get me through the next 6 days!

    If you are in Northern Mexico, you should check out LCDH in Hermosillo, Sonora.

    I only buy cigars from la casa del habanos stores, no need to worry about fakes

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Depends on where you are amd which LCDH shops my friend. There are some LCDH Stores that sell fakes if youre buying single sticks. That being said if you are buying sealed boxes only then it's a safer bet but again you have to know the store and go thru all your verification check points

      Thanks for watch8ng and subscribing. There is an LCDH in Cabo however I have not been there and also I have heard that some ppl have spotted fakes there so my recommendation would be look for hoyos, ramon allones or diplomaticos as these are more reasonably priced amd less prone to be fake

    I was in Cabo recently at the Cas store. The store person was complaining about the Hong Kong prices., as well as the Mexico taxes. I minimized my purchase, as I was disappointed. Thankfully, I'm in pocket with a decent supply of Eagles, Series E and P 2s and Upmanns.
    Can you expound on the "Mexico Taxes"?
    Also, you spoke of store hand rolls at a shop in Havana. I think the ladies name is Margarita. Is there any way to procure those sticks in the US?
    Thank you!

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  Před 9 měsíci +1

      So as far as tobacco taxes in Mexico, they pay about 49% which is high. On top of that if you are caught bringing in cigars over the allowed limit of 25 sticks, you are taxed 500% on each stick over that limit. The Cabo LCDH is expensive like Cancun bc its a high class tourist spot. I have not been to the store in Mexico City yet but I assume it will be the same.

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  Před 9 měsíci +1

      For the custom hand rolls from the Escogida shop at the Comodoro hotel in Havana, the lady who is the torcedora is Yanis. She rolls different vitolas but my favorite is called the "Margarita" a 56 ring with a pigtail at the end. Unbelievable stick. Can you get them outside of the shop in Havana? Only if you or someone goes and brings them back which makes them very difficult and very desirable. I did a give away earlier this year and you can check out that older video. All on the up n up and winners selected at random. May have to do another

      @@KimoKapaku yes I was disappointed. I can do better with a couple of online retailers. It's been years, but. Cabo, the city itself. Has evolved the wrong way. Sad.

    hello friend , great review, one question, I'm heading to Culiacan to visit family in a couple days and wanted to ask were you bought the cigars? tried searching on google maps but most places are just seedy smoke shops. don't wanna bring any of my cigars from the states because last time i tried the Mexican customs people wanted to charge me a hefty importation fee even tho they were for personal use.
    you mentioned a high end wine establishment, may i ask the name?

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  Před 3 měsíci +1

      So you are allowed to bring in 25 cigars. That's the permitted limit. In Culiacan, at the "La Ceva" plaza in the Fresh Market store there is a wine, alcohol store directly in front of the entrance of the market where you can find habanos in the glass cabinet. The Fresh Market is relatively new. You should be able to find in

      @@KimoKapaku thanks for the help i'll definitely go there, it was only about 10 cigars in a hard case humidor for the trip, but the customs lady wanted me to pay importation fee se came up with at the window, about 800 pesos. i know i was getting finessed. but money lost to avoid missing my flight.

    Hey Kimo thank you for the video! Is it a pretty safe bet that the high end wine places will have the legit sticks? Or do you encounter fakes sometimes in places like these?

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah but you still have to check whether they have the Habanos export label (re/white with habanos logo) as well as all of the govt health warning labels completely around the outside of the box and the label strip across the top that shows the box ID and date of receipt. Not to mention the usual Cubam g9vt green label with serial code. If possible run the serial code to authenticate as well

    Greetings. I have an opportunity to buy a box of Qual d orsay 54 and or a box of vegas robaina unicorns. Ironically I am just getting over a cold and while I have a sample of each, my taste buds are shot. I'm flying out in a day and need some advise. Which to get and why? I realize they are different strength and I'm assuming flavor profiles. I guess the question is assuming I have the patience to age them which will I be more grateful to have in say 5 years. Both boxes are 2022 and are almost the same price per stick. I appreciate your insight. Cheers.

      I went back had them look through the boxes for the dates, curious to see what's the oldest sticks they had for any make and model lol. They had a half box of those unios from 2018 in the back. Not sure if that was a smart idea but as I assumed this wasn't a brand likely counterfeited and the box code checked out I decided to roll the dice and buy the rest of the box. Your thoughts on this?

    im about to buy a box of aristocrats on ihavanas, but im nervous they will be fake smdh all my friends are telling me they are good, but my gut is telling me no for some reason 😅😩 i dont like the idea that they open to inspect the box, although understand its to check for mold etc.... idk I'm torn LMAO

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Ihavanas is legit and my friends and I have a long history with them. You can tell them not to open to inspect the box if yoy want. They do it so you don't receive any damaged sticks and then ask for a refund. They want to ensure you're getting a perfect box is all bit if you decline the inspection and want the box sealed as is then you can't get compensation if you receive a damaged stick. Rest assured ihavanas is good. U.S. customs seized a box a friend ordered and they made him whole by shipping another box. You just need to send them a copy of the seizure letter as my friend did.
